One Minute YouTube Mission! June 4, 2009

Posted by Marta at June 4, 2009 11:25 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 43 ) | TrackBack

Do you love watching YouTube videos? Are you a fairly busy person? Is helping animals your thing?

If you said yes to all three questions, then our one minute YouTube mission has your name written all over it, dude.

Here's all you gotta do:

  • Sign into your YouTube account.
  • Go to YouTube.com/peta2tv.
  • Click on the "Subscribe" button near the top left side of the page.
  • E-mail us at StreetTeam@peta2.com to let us know you did it!
It's that simple. Once we get the e-mail from you, we'll give you 500 Street Team points.

How exactly does this help animals? We update our YouTube with all of our latest videos, so once you subscribe, you'll be notified as soon as we add a new video—that means the latest band interviews, video compilations, undercover investigations, and random ridiculousness we come up with. You'll be in the know for all the latest we've got going on. Plus, the more popular we are with subscribers and rankings, the more people will see our videos and want to help animals.

So what are you waiting for? Since you're reading this blog right now, I know you've got one minute, so do it now!

Marta

P.S. If you haven't already, be sure to check out our one minute Facebook mission!

P.P.S. Want 1,000 bonus points? Upload a peta2 video to your account right now and include a link to it in your report for points.

Help Us Out. Libby Awards Are Soon. December 24, 2008

Posted by Pulin Modi at December 24, 2008 3:51 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 8 ) | TrackBack

Hello! We're hard at work gathering info for the next Libby Awards.

This time around, some of the categories include "Best Student Group" and "Best Internet Personality."

And we need your help!

What's the best student group out there working on animal rights? Is it your organization? Your friend's group? Something else you've seen online? Whatever you think, comment below with your nominee.

We also need some suggestions for best internet personality. Maybe it's someone you look up to on MySpace or perhaps a YouTube superstar. And then again, for all we know, there's some amazingly compassionate person who helps to reach people about animal rights on another site like SocialVibe. Again, we need you to comment below with who you think should be nominated.

So we're announcing the official nominees within a few weeks and need your help today.

Please comment with your nominees for "Best Student Group" and/or "Best Internet Personality."

Thanks!

Chris P. Carrot and Nugget: A New Hope October 15, 2008

Posted by Lara Sanders at October 15, 2008 3:07 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

The last presidential debate is on tonight, and I'm greatly disappointed that presidential hopeful Chris P. Carrot will not be taking part. I want to hear from Mr. Carrot on the issue most dear to his heart and mine—getting America to go vegetarian! To me, Chris P. Carrot stands for all the things that make America great.

Check out this important message from Chris P. Carrot, and you'll see my point:

Inspiring...I felt goose bumps of hope while watching it. Did you?

What makes Chris P. Carrot even better is his fantastic choice in running mate: Nugget!

Check out peta2's YouTube channel for more amazing videos!

P.S. As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, we can't and don't endorse or oppose any candidate running for election or any political party. We also can't and won't approve comments about the actual election or the candidates running—so don't do it!

Whose Skin Are You In? September 25, 2008

Posted by Marta at September 25, 2008 9:51 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

Isn't it disturbing to think that wearing the skin of another animal is considered normal by many people? I mean seriously, wearing the skin of someone who was once living and breathing is really sick.

Many people wear animal skins in a misguided attempt to be fashionable, but how can wearing dead skin make you look good (Hello, Hairy-Kate and Trashley)?

I think the problem lies in the fact that many people are just completely unaware of what happens to animals in the cruel skins industry. Honestly, it's weird, but a lot of people don't even realize that leather comes from an animal. We need your help to make sure everyone knows the truth.

We have a brand new video to share with you all, called "Whose Skin Are You In?" It's a great video to share with your friends and family to get them to think twice about whose skin they're wearing on top of their own. Our goal is to get 1,000,000 views of this video on YouTube. Will you help us?

First, watch the video below. Next, embed the video everywhere you can (get the code here). Then be sure to go to YouTube and comment on and favorite the video. And, of course, don't forget to forward the video to everyone you know!

Let's make sure everyone knows that wearing animals is not fashionable. Thanks so much for your help!

Marta

Baby Pig Learns to Sit! August 11, 2008

Posted by Lara Sanders at August 11, 2008 1:47 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 9 ) | TrackBack

Warning: If you object to cuteness, please do not watch the following video.

YouTube_screengrab.bmp

See, pigs are just as smart as dogs! They can even learn how to sit. So, if you haven't already signed the petition to get pigs the same protection as dogs, do it now!

Woof! - Lara

P.S. Check out these equally as cute photos that have been uploaded by Woof fans!

P.P.S. We don't recommend adopting a pig as a companion animal. Pigs like to be with other pigs, and they can get HUGE!

Matthew Lush's Top 10 February 13, 2008

Posted by Pulin Modi at February 13, 2008 11:35 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 9 ) | TrackBack

If you don't know Matthew Lush (a.k.a. Gay God), you probably haven't spent all that much time on MySpace or YouTube. He's one of the most popular users on both sites with hundreds of thousands of people checking out his pages every month. And the best part is that Matthew is vegan and dedicated to animal rights.

Check out this fun video he made about the "Top Ten Reasons I Won't Date A Meat-Eater," just in time for Valentine's Day.

It just went up over the weekend, but over 200,000 people have already checked it out! We'd love to see your own videos so do it up and send us a link!

-Pulin

P.S.- Matthew also talks about peta2 and animal rights every Tuesday night on his Stickam show. So check it out.

Vegetarians: At School and On YouTube September 6, 2007

Posted by Marta at September 6, 2007 4:01 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBack

I was sent a couple of cool news articles today that I just had to share with you lovelies.

First up is the Fox River Grove, Illinois, teacher who got kicked out of his classroom for sharing with his students why he's a vegan. Dave Warwak, a favorite teacher at Fox River Grove Middle School wanted to share with students just why he chose a vegan lifestyle ('cause animals on factory farms and in slaughterhouses are treated horribly) and was ordered to leave his classroom. Sound the alarm! I can't believe a teacher was ordered to leave his classroom for providing students with the truth. I was under the impression that students go to school to get educated...

Anyway, Warwak says, "It was never said that you have to take this and be like this. It was nothing like that. It was just hey here's some information if you're interested." Click here to read the full article for yourself.

Next up is the article about 14-year-old Amy Bareijan who wanted to learn more about a vegetarian lifestyle (after seeing a PETA video on YouTube), so she decided to post a video on YouTube asking for people's advice/experiences. She didn't expect much response, but received nearly 5,000 video views and had tons of people offering advice.

This is the type of thing I love to hear—it's amazing to know the kind of support that exists for people wanting to go vegetarian. The peta2 message boards are a great place for that kind of support. You have to be a member to post on them though, so go ahead and sign up at peta2.com/StreetTeam. You'll be addicted, I swear (and I can say that because I used to spend hours on the boards as a peta2 Street Teamer!).

To read the full article about Amy's experience, click here. And for those of you dying to know—yup, Amy is still a vegetarian, and going strong!

Hope your Thursday is going well!

Marta

PS - Our new Nugget costume is popping up all over the place. Can you imagine seeing this cuteness in person?
