If you're an avid reader of the peta2 blog, you know that it's World Week for Animals in Laboratories. As many as 115 million animals are experimented on and killed in laboratories every year only to provide scientists with a ridiculous amount of unreliable data. I know mice are extremely intelligent and all but our insides are nothing like theirs. Yet 90% of experiments are on rats and mice! Can I getta "WTF?"! With so many non-animal alternatives available these days, I'd like to know why scientists are still getting away with this.

All of us at peta2 want you to join us in giving a big "F@#$ You" to the geniuses behind animal testing, by entering for your chance to win a fabulous Stop Animal Testing prize pack. That's right! You could win our brand new Spiders & Caviar 'Animal Testing Breaks Hearts' T-shirt (pictured right), an 'I'm Scared of Needles Too!' T-shirt, a 'Cut Class, Not Frogs' button, and a 'Cut Out Animal Experiments' peppermint lip balm.

Enter for your chance to win this Stop Animal Testing prize pack by commenting below with your most creative anti-animal testing slogan. Entries must be received by May 1st. The person who comes up with the most clever slogan will be chosen as our winner will be notified by May 4th.

Just so you know ... by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

World Week for Animals in Labs April 23, 2008

Posted by Marta at April 23, 2008 2:47 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

This week, April 20 - 26, is World Week for Animals in Laboratories. What exactly does that mean? This week is all about exposing the plight that animals go through for testing. What better way to do that than with demonstrations? Check out a few that PETA had this week:

First up is the protest that took place outside drugmaker Eli Lilly's annual shareholder meeting on Monday. These six protestors let the company's shareholders know about its decision to outsource animal experiments to China and other countries where animal protection laws are virtually non-existent.

Remember when Lara mentioned the giant dinosaur in the PETA parking lot last week? Well, that was a dry run for the demonstration that took place outside the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday to remind U.S. government officials that we've been out of the Stone Age for a long time, and testing on animals should be a thing of the past, too.

Want to help animals used for testing? Here are a few easy ways you can help:

- Stream "Testing...One, Two, Three" on your MySpace or other page.
- Have your friends take our "How Cruelty-Free is Your Morning Routine?" quiz.
- Write letters to companies, asking them to stop supporting cruel animal tests.
- Cut Out Dissection.

Take care!

Marta

PS - Which demonstration do you like better? I can't make up my mind!
