As many of you know, Warped Tour's 15th Anniversary Celebration is taking place September 6 in LA, and we know not all of you can make it out there for the big event. This week, we're giving away two pairs of tickets (good nationwide).

Wrappin' Up Warped Tour! August 27, 2009

Posted by Marta at August 27, 2009 4:47 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBack

Friends!

Well, we've reached the end of Warped Tour 2009. It seems like just yesterday we were starting the tour in Pomona and now 2 months later it's over. Pretty crazy! We've had days of intense heat and humidity, downpouring rain and even a few days that were pretty cold. Throughout all the varying conditions we had a great summer with you all and we hope you enjoyed your time at Warped Tour as well.

We spent this Warped Tour raising awareness about the animals that are kept in labs while various cosmetic and household products are tested on them. It was our job this summer to inform all of you of the horrible practices and to tell you about the companies that do not test their products on rats, bunnies, or any other animals. During our 2 months on Warped, over 218,000 of you signed our petition to demand companies stop these barbaric experiments.

Plenty of your favorite bands from the tour gave us their support including Chiodos, Hit the Lights and Silverstein. Speaking of the latter, our friends in Silverstein stopped by our booth at the August 22 Chula Vista, CA, show to sign autographs for some their fans at the show. The fans had a great time and Silverstein was thrilled to meet all of you.

The wonderful people at Warped Tour put together a little goodbye video for all you wonderful supporters.
Check it out! We're in it, sort of ... who do you think sports our shirt the best?

We're all going home for a few weeks to rest up before heading back out on the road this autumn. What tours and campuses will we be on? Just check back in—we'll be out soon with brand new petitions for you to sign and more ways to help animals! If you start to miss us too much, remember that there's always lots to do to keep you occupied!

Hopefully your summer was as cruelty free as your hearts.

Take care!

Joey

We've already told you how much we love SocialVibe. And I've clued you in to why you should adore the boys in Cash Cash. Now the two have teamed up to show their support for a truly great cause—peta2! SocialVibe is using the internet to enable kids to get active and create change in their communities and all over the world. Pretty cool, right? And it's super easy!

I know you all have a Facebook or a MySpace so you can lurk your ex bf's new girlfriend or keep tabs on who's posting on your crush's wall. Now you can use your social-networking profiles to raise money for your favorite charities and help support your favorite bands all at the same time! All you need to do is add Cash Cash's SocialVibe application to your MySpace or Facebook page. Every time you download a song or rate a video, a donation will be made to peta2! And, all the actions show up on your Facebook profile, so all your friends can see your good deeds and get in on the action!

All Time Low and Four Year Strong Think Animal Testing Breaks Hearts! August 21, 2009

Posted by Megan Rondeau at August 21, 2009 12:41 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

I'm saddened to say that Warped Tour is quickly coming to an end. This Sunday marks the end of yet another summer for the iconic punk rock festival—the 15th summer to be exact! And as someone who has attended literally dozens of Warped Tour dates over the past 8 years, I have to say that it's still as good as ever! I was lucky enough to head out on the road with our amazing tour crew to talk to everyone from Anti-Flag to The Maine about why Animal Testing Breaks Hearts.

I hate to say that we saved the best petition signatures for last, but it's pretty effing sweet that the band whose album debuted at #4 in the country (All Time Low!) and just performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien is all about signing some peta2 petitions! Oh yea and did I mention that I stopped by the Gig Life Tour to hang out with Four Year Strong, Set Your Goals, Fireworks, and The Swellers for a night? I gotta say, sometimes it's good being me!

I think my favorite show I went to all summer was the Four Year Strong/Set Your Goals show in Richmond! What was your best show of the summer?

New Friends on Warped Tour August 14, 2009

Posted by Megan Rondeau at August 14, 2009 2:00 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

It's Friday again, and time for your weekly Warped Tour update! Our amazing peta2 tour crew, along with a little help from yours truly, has spent the summer getting the word out that testing on animals is unacceptable and buying cruelty-free is the only way to go! In addition to the thousands of kids at every Warped Tour stop who signed our Animal Testing Breaks Hearts petition, I talked to dozens of bands who were stoked to help fight the good fight!

The signatures we have for you this week prove how diverse Warped Tour has become. Of course the tour still shows love for old school favorites like Bad Religion and NOFX, but we also caught up with some of this year's newcomers! Florida natives and one of Fueled By Ramen's newest signings, Versa Emerge; one of my favorite bands of the tour and incredible live performers, Dear and the Headlights; cute and catchy electro-pop chart toppers The White Tie Affair; and vegetarian fashionista Jac Vanek all signed our petition to stop product testing on animals!

13 Days Of Warped Tour Left ... August 7, 2009

Posted by Shannon Phillips at August 7, 2009 4:10 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 5 ) | TrackBack

Depending on whether you're living with a "glass half full" or "glass half empty" mentality, I may have good news or bad news. The good news? There's almost two weeks left of Warped Tour! The bad news? There's less than two weeks left of one of the events that really defines summer for so many.

Mickey of Mercy Mercedes with his Glamour Kills/peta2 tee.

I'd like to say that I'm an optimist in this situation, and I couldn't be more stoked that everyone seems to love our "Animal Testing Breaks Hearts" campaign! Bands like Escape the Fate, Ivy League, Lights, Mercy Mercedes, Therefore I Am, and Rob Dyer of Skate 4 Cancer have more in common than being at Warped Tour ... they also signed our petition letting the world know that testing on animals is wrong and that they won't be a part of it! Check out their signatures below ...

What has been your favorite Warped memory this year? For those of you who haven't gone yet, what are you most looking forward to?

Shan

P.S. Have you signed our petition yet? If you haven't, shame on you! Okay, kidding ... but seriously, go sign!

Video Interview with The A.K.A.s! August 4, 2009

Posted by Shannon Phillips at August 4, 2009 12:59 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

Warped Tour is still in full effect, and we couldn't be more stoked. Not only is Warped a time where we can see awesome bands and hang out with our friends, but it's also a good opportunity to check out some organizations out there that are trying to make the world a better place.

When we heard that our good friend (and vegetarian!) Heidi Minx, got a chance to sit down with one our favorite bands, The A.K.A.s to talk about making a difference for Inked Magazine's "Inked For A Cause" column—we were so excited! Not only is Heidi the mastermind designer behind Franky & Minx and Punk Rock Domestics, but she also makes a positive impact with her own non-profit group, Built on Respect.

Who better to interview about this topic than the A.K.A.s' vocalist? Mike Ski has worked with multiple causes like Warped Eco Initiative, Filter For Good, Invisible Children, and us here at peta2. My favorite part of this interview is when Mike mentions that if he could choose one thing to tell one person to do on a daily basis to make the world a better place, it would be to go vegetarian! Find out why, and hear Mike talk about our "Animal Testing Breaks Hearts" campaign in the video below.

What do you do to make the world a better place?

Birds and Breakin' Hearts July 31, 2009

Posted by Marta at July 31, 2009 2:35 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBack

Hey yo!

This week we have been reaching out to people all over the country about the brutal practices of animal testing and McDonald's vicious treatment of chickens!

It's hard to believe that Warped Tour 2009 is half way over; it seems like it just started. We've spent the past week in the hot and humid South. It's been boiling in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, and we were right in the middle of it. Hey someone's gotta tell folks about the painful and torturous tests that are inflicted on millions of rats, bunnies, and mice every year in cosmetic testing facilities. We're proud to brave the heat in order to get people to think more deeply about the products they use and just how those products were deemed "safe for human use."

Come to our table when Warped Tour rolls into your town and we'll hook you up with free stuff! We've got cruelty-free shopping guides to help you find better cosmetic and body care products for you and the safety of our animal friends. The DVDs at our table feature such bands as Rise Against, Cobra Starship, and Chiodos talking about a variety of different animal rights issues that mean something to them. Of course, we also have our stickers! Everyone seems to love our stickers and even love putting them on their phones, hats, and faces. As long as you guys are spreading the word and promoting animal rights ... we'll continue to provide you with stickers! Deal?!

At our hometown show in Virginia Beach we even had our good friends Anti-Flag stop by to do a signing at our table!

I'm out for now! We're heading North into Cincinnati, Detroit, and Chicago, so keep an eye open for us! I'm going to let Paige finish this baby off ...

This week we hit up LA, Chico, Seattle, Edmonton, and Calgary with the 10 for 10 tour talking to hardcore fans about the routine cruelty McDonald's practices on chickens, like being scalded alive in feather removal tanks. Our new pals from California, hardcore band The Ghost Inside, had some members sign the petition.

And Justice, singer of Trapped Under Ice rocked a McCruelty sticker during their set in Calgary.

We also made some new friends and visited with some old ones stopping to get some amazing vegan donuts along the way in Seattle!

Keep a look out for us the rest of the summer and sign our petitions to help!

- Joey and Paige

Rain? Nooooo Problem! July 27, 2009

Posted by Pulin Modi at July 27, 2009 2:08 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Have you had a chance to hang out with us on Warped Tour yet? I spent a few days out on the tour with our incredible peta2 outreach crew and had a really great time. I talked to a lot of people about why animal testing breaks hearts before the doors opened, hung out with Street Teamers at the peta2 booth, and met up with some bands we work with including Anti-Flag and Escape The Fate.

There were also a couple times where it rained really hard, soaking just about anyone and anything not under a tent. Lucky for us (and some of you, too), our booth helped give people some shelter from the storms!

How many people can fit under our tent?

Fun with "Gabe Saporta" while hiding from the rain.

The rain didn't stop them from getting a cruelty-free shopping guide!

Hope everyone else had as much fun as I did!
