Cruelty To People And Animals October 6, 2009

Posted by Pulin Modi at October 6, 2009 11:32 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

I just happened to come across a Newsweek feature of some of the nation's most infamous killers. And what do they all have in common? Each has a very clear history of torturing and killing animals before committing atrocities against human beings.

The next time someone tries to give you a hard time for speaking out against cruelty to animals, remind them that it's never ok to make excuses for any form of injustice in our society. It's really eye opening to read through this quick slideshow, so I definitely encourage you to do so, and share it with others!

It's also a good time to remind you about Inglourious Basterds star and acclaimed director Eli Roth's video highlighting this important issue in a slightly ... umm ... different way!

Special thanks to everyone on the peta2 Street Team for your amazing work to speak out for animals so far this school year!

Behind-the-Scenes with 'Inglourious Basterds' Star Eli Roth September 10, 2009

Posted by Patricia at September 10, 2009 1:00 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBack

Few things excite me more than a nice, violent, gory horror flick and I have to say, Eli Roth's films are some of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. I love them. Thank you, Eli.

And putting Quentin Tarantino and Eli, aka "The Bear Jew," together for Inglourious Basterds is almost too much. That movie actually made me queasy in some places ... way to go, guys!

Eli's latest release isn't gory at all though, and I still love it. He directed and starred in peta2's brand new and very first MySpace exclusive PSA. In the PSA, Eli reminds everyone that the violence in his movies is fake, but violence against animals is real and should never be ignored.

Watch Eli's PSA on MySpace and then check out the behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot.

Great right? Eli also posed for a print version of the PSA, which you can see here. But first, check out these exclusive outtakes from Eli's photo shoot.

Stop the Violence in Mexico! No More Emo Bashing! April 4, 2008

Posted by Lara Sanders at April 4, 2008 10:02 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 28 ) | TrackBack

Has anyone heard of this emo bashing business going on in Mexico? For anyone who hasn't heard- the last couple of weeks emo kids in Mexico have been targeted and beat up because a group of people don't like how they look, dress, and act.

So messed up! Can't we all just get along? So many members of the hardcore, punk, metal, and emo communities are into animal rights and are strongly opposed to contributing to the violence of animals, so what is the deal with all this violence against each other?

We at peta2 were so upset about this that we sent some peta2 tees to show our support to a group who is on the ground in Mexico organizing to protect the emos!

So what is the animal rights tie-in? Violence of all kinds is bad- whether it's violence on your plate, or violence against one another. There have been studies showing the link between animal abuse and violence toward humans.

So long story short- let's all make up and hug!

Anyone See Halloween? September 4, 2007

Posted by Pulin Modi at September 4, 2007 4:28 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBack

If you joined the millions of people who went out to see Halloween this Labor Day weekend, you may have noticed a serious animal rights message in the background story.

What am I talking about? Well, did you catch how the Michael Myers character started out by killing and torturing animals before moving on to human victims?! In fact, it's pretty common knowledge by everyone from the FBI to those working with victims of domestic violence, that cruelty to animals is a warning sign for serial killers and other psychopaths who torture people.

Sure it's nice to enjoy a scary movie every once in a while, but let's not forget to keep an eye out for the real life horrors which we all have the power to stop. Be thankful that you can help both people and animals, and make sure everyone you know is aware of how all suffering is linked! The animals, our families and friends, and the whole world will be a better place as a result!
