Summer Fashion Must-Haves June 22, 2009

Posted by Tiffany Wright at June 22, 2009 4:42 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

I'm sure most of you have already started getting your closets ready for summer. We're super lucky, this year, because there's a ton of different trends to play with; from florals to studs, to neon and denim. Since there's so much to choose from, I've put together a list of MY top five cruelty-free must-haves for summer. Get ready 'cause you just might have to make some more room in your closet.

For the Ladies:

The Long Dress

This super-cute purple jersey maxi dress from Old Navy features a deep v-neck and empire waist. The best part about this dress is its versatility. Not only is it perfect for shopping trips to the mall, it also works great for a first date.

The High-Waisted Skirt

Yes, 80s fashion will be continuing on this summer. The high-waisted skirt is yet another throwback from the days of Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper. This is great news for us ladies since the skirt works well with pretty much any body type. The floral print cotton skirt pictured above can be found at UrbanOutfitters.com.

The Platform Sandal

These brown faux leather platform sandals, available at Target, are accented by metallic studs — another hot trend this summer. These shoes go great with dresses or jeans so you're sure to get a lot of wear out of them.

For the Guys:

Deep V-Neck Tee

The Deep V is no stranger to ladies fashion but, this year, the style has worked its way into mens fashion. You can find the Kelly Green Deep V, pictured here, at American Apparel's online store. Props to all you fellas man enough to rock this tee. Just do us ladies a favor and shave your chest!

Wayfarers

First made famous by legendary rock and roll singer Buddy Holly, wayfarers are THE hottest accessory this summer. Check out these retro two-toned frames from Urban Outfitters. Not only are they supa dupa fly, but they come with 100% UV protection.

Happy shopping!

VICTORY: Urban Outfitters Is Now Fur-Free! March 23, 2009

Posted by Marta at March 23, 2009 11:47 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 15 ) | TrackBack

You may remember that back in December we let you know that Urban Outfitters was selling fur and asked you to write to the company asking them to stop selling fur. Guess what? They did!

After learning that Urban Outfitters was selling a fur-trimmed item, PETA wrote to the company privately to ask that it pull the item and adopt a fur-free policy. When the company didn't respond, we issued an action alert urging people to write the company and encourage it to become fur-free. After receiving nearly 4000 emails from PETA members and peta2 Street Teamers, Urban Outfitters listened!

In an email to PETA, a representative wrote, "[T]here is no fur in our stores, and this will continue to be the case."

Exciting, right? I've always loved Urban Outfitters, so I was sad when we found out they were selling fur. There's just absolutely no excuse. Remember, Armani still refuses to stop selling fur. Write him now and ask him to stop butchering bunnies!

Thanks so much to each and every one of you who took the time to write to Urban Outfitters. Here's to the day when no one would even dream of wearing fur!

Marta

P.S. Check out 'Stolen for Fashion' if you haven't already. I ♥ Pink and Ricky Gervais!

Urban Outfitters, How I Used to Love You . . . December 18, 2008

Posted by Ashleigh at December 18, 2008 11:57 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 15 ) | TrackBack

It's a sad day for me. One of my favorite stores is selling a fur wrap.

Urban Outfitters seems to think that since the fur they are peddling is vintage, that it's ok to sell it. They are so wrong! No matter how old a fur is, it's still a DEAD ANIMAL. And wearing vintage fur sends the same message as wearing fur produced more recently: that it is ok to stomp on, anally or vaginally electrocute, and skin animals alive for their fur. I'm not kidding. How could anyone do that to these animals?

Please tell Urban Outfitters that the sale of fur in their stores must be stopped! Take action now! And while you're at it, grab one of these beauties to show the world how you feel about fur:

PS - if you want the look of fur, go faux! It'll be much cuter than UO's tacky real fur collar.
