PETA2 Daily Blog

Too Posh for Pelts! January 24, 2009

Posted by Patricia at January 24, 2009 12:43 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 10 ) | TrackBack

Today's blog features guest blogger, peta2 UK's Violet.

There is always speculation about Posh's furry vs friendly credtials. The fur hags out there like to believe that the fashionista is one of them (i.e. spineless and brain-dead) but in fact Posh has a wardrobe FULL of luxurious FAUX furs!

In the fashion world it can be easy to lose sight of your morals, but our favourite yummy mummy is unwavering on the fur issue. A source close to Posh told the Daily Mail "Posh is very firm on the subject of fur," adding, "Victoria never wears real fur."

Posh is of course in great company, Eva Mendes, Sarah Harding, Leona Lewis, and Sophie Ellis Bexter, to name but a few, are all against fur. It just goes to show, to be fashionable you don't need to be draped in the corpses of tortured animals a la the Trollsens! Bravo Victoria!

Find Out First: Who Will peta2 Go After Next? December 3, 2008

Posted by Rachel-O at December 3, 2008 5:53 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

PETA is notorious. Whether it's the Trollsen Twins, our new Cooking Mama game, or having pretty much the cutest mascot ever (Not a Nugget of course!). We're on the cutting edge of everything, and when you think animal rights, you think of PETA and peta2.

We launch campaigns against animal abusers, show undercover investigations into the institutions that exploit animals, and we have the best Street Team in the world—and most of all, we win—with your help, of course.

We're about to launch our new campaign against one of the biggest fur pushers out there, who makes millions off of animals being electrocuted, drowned, beaten and poisoned for their clothing line. We've tried contacting them, but they're heartless. We're done being patient, and we want your voice to be the first heard for the millions of animals killed every year to end up on someone's back. We want to tell you about the campaign before anyone else, so we're going to text it to you—but you have to sign up for our text alerts first!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up now to get the announcement before anyone else!

Stay loud!
-Rachel

How Was Your Halloween? November 3, 2008

Posted by Pulin Modi at November 3, 2008 3:13 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 9 ) | TrackBack

So? How was it?! How was your Halloween?

Halloween around here at peta2 was pretty good. We were thrilled that so many of you made animal rights an important part of this holiday. Take a peek at these photos.

Interns protesting at KFC.

Adriana and Arturo using their Trollsen Twins masks!

Shanna's piggy jack-o-lantern.

I think my respect for my chicken chums is getting a bit out of control.

Tell us how your Halloween was, aight?

-Pulin

P.S.- I can't believe that I made it through the whole blog without once making a joke about how Marta still has her scary mask on today at work! (Oops... almost made it the whole blog without saying that... poor Marta!)

Victory: Zappos.com Is Now Fur-Free October 21, 2008

Posted by Pulin Modi at October 21, 2008 10:40 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBack

You people are absolutely great. Just about a month after we launched a campaign to persuade Zappos.com, the biggest online retailer of shoes in the world, to stop selling fur, we have a victory to announce!

Yes! Zappos.com has agreed to stop selling all fur. Zappos.com joins Target, QVC, Home Shopping Network, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Gap, Forever 21, Wet Seal and dozens of other companies and designers that have gone fur-free.

Thousands of people pressured this company with emails and phone calls, plus Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Look at you all being savvy when it comes to animal rights!

It wasn't too long ago that I had posted this blog pledging to boycott Zappos.com because they sold fur. But I'm happy to say that I'll support them again. (It's especially easy since they have this section of non-leather shoes.)

If you are inspired (and you should be) by this victory, why don't you direct your energy towards getting Amazon.com to stop selling fur? All you have to do is email Jeff Bezos, CEO here, and politely tell him that Amazon.com should stop selling fur like its competitor Zappos.com has done.

Thanks!

-Pulin

P.S.- I hear that Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh is going to be on Oprah this week along with the Trollsens. They're going to be talking about how they manage to be so young and successful. I bet it's going to include quotes from Tony like "I listen to customers and make compassionate, responsible choices," whereas the Trollsens may say things like, "Muuuaaahhhhaaahahahaaaa! We'll profit off anyone with a soul to steal."

I Heart Brooke from "One Tree Hill" March 13, 2008

Who saw "One Tree Hill" the other night? Spoiler alert: If you TiVoed it to watch later, don't read any further because you need to see the glorious ending for yourself.

For the rest of you, were you just as happy as I was that Brooke (a.k.a. Sophia Bush) fired that horrible, evil, controlling mother of hers??? Now I know there are a lot of other reasons she fired Victoria, but I'm sure the fact that she tried to force her to use fur in her clothing line was a major one, I just know it.

You caught that episode, right? When Brooke's on the phone with Victoria and says, "There is no situation in which I am going to kill furry woodland creatures to make coats out of them, K? Thanks." Have I mentioned that I love Brooke? The Trollsens should take a que from her.

And then, they bring it up again later in the show when that adorable little Jamie asks her if she's going to kill furry woodland creatures! Oh, and by the way, that little guy is about the cutest thing ever!

Sophia Bush is always rescuing dogs in her real life so I can't help but wonder if maybe her soft spot for animals had something to do with that part of her storyline...hmmm. Next week is the 100th episode, so y'all be sure to tune in! I'll be glued to the TV.

xox

Patricia

P.S. And WTF, Lucas?! You should marry Peyton, not Lindsey. Who agrees with me? Post your comments below but not before you pledge to be fur-free.
