Street Teamer Miho's peta2 Sticker Tote! November 3, 2009

Posted by Marta at November 3, 2009 5:33 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 7 ) | TrackBack

We always love sharing awesome things that Street Teamers are doing with you, and Miho Stanberry is no exception! Check out what the crafty 17-year-old from Seattle made with her stickers:

Super cute tote, right? Here's what she had to say to me:

How long have you been vegetarian? Do you have a favorite recipe?
I became a vegetarian on April 27th of this year. Right now, I'm making a transition into going vegan. My favorite vegan recipe is "Simply Fried Tofu" (It's on my blog).

What's your favorite peta2 campaign?
My favorite peta2 campaign is pretty much everything, but if I had to choose one, it would be McCruelty.

What's your favorite part about being involved with the peta2 Street Team?
My favorite part of being involved in the peta2 Street Team is that I get to talk to a lot of people, influence them, get influenced, and have ideas bounce back and forth with the people who are just like me!

Thanks, Miho! Feeling inspired? Check out some of the other awesome DIY stuff Street Teamers have done.

Are any of you crafty? If so, do you incorporate animal rights into your crafts?

School Supplies—peta2 Style September 9, 2009

Posted by Rachel-O at September 9, 2009 1:35 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 48 ) | TrackBack

Things peta2 Street Teamers are good at (short list):

I don't know about you guys, but I was kind of—okay, really—into school supplies (math class, not so much). I loved covering my folders, notebooks and book covers with stickers, album covers, and photos of my favorite bands.

Sadly, everyone's favorite peta2 (not a) Nugget hadn't been born just yet, so my school supplies were definitely lacking, but I'd be willing to bet that most of you have peta2 stickers and leaflets somewhere around your house that you could use to get the word out at your school.

Check out some pictures from some of our awesome Street Teamers in D.C—see the new peta2 stencils they used? They're new to Street Team goods! We've even got an 'Evil Ronald' one for our McCruelty campaign. The only way to get one is to earn one on the Street Team!

You know the deal. We'll give you 500 Street Team points for sending us photos of your school supplies covered with animal rights stickers, stencils or artwork! E-mail them to us at StreetTeam@peta2.com!

Stay loud!
-Rachel

Make Your Own peta2 Sticker Rings! September 8, 2009

Posted by Marta at September 8, 2009 1:51 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 10 ) | TrackBack

I ♥ Street Teamers. Seriously—I never cease to be impressed by the creative things you all do to help animals. Case in point: The rings that 14-year-old Taylor McKune from Michigan recently made. Cuteness—with a message:

Love it! Not only was Taylor awesome enough to make these rings, she was sweet enough to share how she made them on the peta2 message boards. I asked Taylor a few questions—check out what she had to say:

How long have you been a vegetarian? Do you have a particular food you absolutely love?
I've been a vegetarian since August 18th, so I'm a newbie. It's been exciting trying new foods like fake meat; Boca patties are amazing. They taste so similar to the real thing! I never realized how many foods I already loved were vegetarian, that's definitely helped me stay motivated. I love to eat apples with peanut butter, or Taco Bell crunch wraps with rice instead of beef.

What's your favorite thing about the Street Team?
My favorite thing about the Street Team is the boards. I read through them almost every day, and I'm learning so much. I can't thank the other members enough for sharing their ideas and tips, it's all had a major impact on my decision to go vegetarian.

Do you have any other creative ways to get the animal rights message out there? The rings are a great idea!
I think a great way to raise awareness about animal rights is through what you wear. It can be difficult telling people why they should go veg or pass on the circus, and they oftentimes don't wanna hear it. Simplier things like jewelry, shirts, and hoodies can get every person you walk by thinking. I really like that peta2 offers items like these to their Street Team members. I've always enjoyed DIY things, and they aren't that expensive either. I've made a lot of bracelets out of alphabet letter beads with animal rights messages, the rings are just another idea. There are a lot of ways to get people thinking about animal rights without saying a word.

Isn't Taylor awesome? I'm betting that quite a few of you have some peta2 stickers ready and waiting to be turned into rings—so make like Taylor and get to it! And be sure to send us photos!

peta2 Sticker Cake! August 5, 2009

Posted by Marta at August 5, 2009 5:11 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBack

Check out this super cute and delicious looking vegan cake that peta2 Street Teamer Melissa made!

Melissa told us that she and her best friend have a tradition where they make one another a birthday cake as a birthday gift, and that since she and her friend are both vegans, she of course made it vegan! She chose to use the golden vanilla cake recipe from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World (for other vegan cake ideas, check this out). Melissa topped the cake off with a lemon butter cream frosting (vegan, of course) that she added raspberries to for that lovely pink color.

I absolutely love that she got creative with her peta2 stickers to decorate the cake by taking two of the same sticker and sticking a toothpick between them. The cake definitely sent a strong message to the rest of the party!

What kind of animal rights message would you like to add to the top of a delicious cake?

Leave a Lasting Message in Your Friends' Yearbooks May 19, 2009

Posted by Marta at May 19, 2009 3:49 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 30 ) | TrackBack

We all love looking through our yearbooks to see what our friends have to say to us. It's funny looking back at some of my yearbooks and seeing the inside jokes my friends and I had—and having no idea what some of them were about. You look back at your yearbook as a reminder of what life was like in high school—sports, prom, your BFFs, whatever. Since animal rights is such an important part of your life, shouldn't your friends look back at what you wrote in their yearbooks and remember how much you care about animals, too?

We've got an easy way for you to do just that. Check it out:

  • Grab some peta2 stickers (we know you have some lurking around your room!)
  • When you sign one of your friend's yearbooks, be sure to include a cute peta2 sticker (or a drawing—if you're fancy like that!)
That's it! Once you do that, drop us a line at StreetTeam@peta2.com letting us know how many yearbooks you put stickers in and which ones you used, and we'll give you 750 Street Team points.

Who wouldn't want cuteness like this in their yearbook?

And just think—by including a cute sticker, maybe your friends will be more likely to forget your horrendous class picture where you sneezed right as the photo was taken.

Marta

P.S. If you don't have stickers and don't have enough time for us to send you some, be creative and include an animal rights slogan!

I am positive that all of you out there reading this LOVE the Smiths and Morrissey. (I know that I do!) The Smiths' Meat Is Murder album inspired crowds of people to go vegetarian, and even nowadays, kids are hearing it for the first time and it's making them think.

Want to influence people without having them listen to 'Meat is Murder' on your iPod? Comment below with the animal rights slogan you think is most effective to win a huge stack of 'Meat is Murder' stickers! Five of you will be able to leave a trail of stickers everywhere you go (obviously get permission first!), thus spreading the word about peta2 and animal rights.

Help Animals By Shopping! November 20, 2007

Posted by Lara Sanders at November 20, 2007 2:41 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Black Friday (a.k.a. the busiest shopping day of the year) is fast approaching. If you are like me and get shivers just thinking about going into a mall during the holiday season, then you are in luck!

This year, peta2 is making it easy for you to give the perfect gift from the safety of your home (away from the crowds, lines, and screaming children)! What is the perfect gift you say? The gift that helps animals of course!

Give a special gift to peta2 in the name of the person of your choice, to help peta2 get more oh-so-cute stickers into more people's hands! When you buy this gift, you get a peta2 holiday card (pictured below) to present to the lucky giftee, along with a peta2 sticker sheet to show them what their gift really is.

Even though it is fun to give, we also know that sometimes it is just fun to get too! So ask your family and friends to give a gift in you honor too!

There are several gifts to choose from including:

The "Go Vegetarian Gift", the "Peace for Animals Gift", the "Happy Dog or Happy Cat Gift", and the "Fur-Free Gift".

Happy shopping!

xoxo-Lara
