Steve-O Chats with Campus Talk Magazine November 10, 2009

We just found out Steve-O's been talking about us ... in a good way of course! C'mon, you know our buddy Steve-O wouldn't do us or the animals wrong.

He was recently interviewed by Campus Talk Magazine where he discussed his history with peta2. In the article Steve-O explains how he first got involved when we approached him about speaking out against the circus. I still love that rant of his.

He also talks about how over the last few years he's gone vegan and has taken part in several of our campaigns. He posed alongside of Kelly Osbourne and Perez Hilton in our celebrity 'Save the Seals' ad series, has stripped for not one but two anti-fur ads, and had the pain-staking task of allowing Pamela Anderson to strip search him ... I'm sure that was a rough day!

Most recently Steve-O went back to school to take on dissection when he posed for our newest "Cut Class, Not Frogs" ad. My personal favorite!

Steve-O Launches His New Anti-Dissection Ad September 30, 2009

Posted by Patricia at September 30, 2009 8:55 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

This afternoon our pal Steve-O helped us kick-off "Cut Out Dissection" month by launching his awesome new print ad at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles.

Steve-O wants everyone to know that animals killed for dissection suffer terribly before they reach the science lab. He also wants all you students out there to know that you have the right to refuse to dissect animals. So just say, "No!" and encourage your teachers to offer alternatives for the thousands of students around the country who are opposed to cutting up animals.

As you can imagine it was quite the scene today. Please, hanging out with Steve-O? Where do I sign up?! Check out the pix from today's launch.

Steve-O's Gone Vegan! September 11, 2009

Here's a guest blog from our good friend Steve-O.

When I first became involved with PETA, it was on an "issue-by-issue" basis—they interviewed me in my old apartment about animal abuse in the circus as I sat on a leather sofa. At that time I was a meat-eater, and told them I believe that if anyone is going to wear the flesh or fur of an animal, they should at least have the decency to eat the meat of that animal. That comment led to my involvement in PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign. The following year I chose to stop eating meat (and stop wearing or purchasing anything made out of leather), however, citing reports that Jesus Christ fed lots of people with fish, I continued to eat fish. Most recently, for just over a month now, I've kept to a strictly vegan diet and I've not felt "hard-done-by" at all. I have been really enjoying making a project out of seeking out an extremely healthy diet of raw, organic, vegan foods—and I plan on continuing to do so.

Vote for Steve-O on DWTS Tonight! March 16, 2009

Posted by Patricia at March 16, 2009 10:11 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

In case you didn't know, we are owning this season of Dancing with the Stars. Three of this season's contestants and one of the judges have joined forces with PETA to speak up for animals over the years ... three of them have even gone naked!

Belinda Carlisle, The Girls Next Door's Holly Madison, and Steve-O have all taken part in PETA's "We'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" Campaign. In fact, it was Belinda's naked ad with the rest of The Go-Go's back in 1991 that helped us launch the now iconic ad series.

Both Holly and our good friend Steve-O have posed for two different naked ads. And I'm sure you've all heard Steve-O's anti-circus rant, no? He's a good Steve-O.

Oh, and let's not forget that my favorite judge, the lovely Carrie Ann Inaba, also posed for a gorgeous ABC ad for peta2 to help put an end to the animal companion overpopulation crises. Like I said, we own DWTS.

Steve-O is so getting my vote! He tried really hard and looked adorable in his pin-striped suit last week. I can't wait to see how he does tonight. Be sure to tune in and vote Steve-O, y'all! (Or Holly ... or Belinda!)
