W00t Canada! February 7, 2008

Posted by Marta at February 7, 2008 11:35 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

We're about (pronounced 'a-boat') to wrap up our small tour with Silverstein in Canada already. Our first two dates were in the frozen city of Edmonton, but the incredible food of Cafe Mosaics kept us warm—until we went back outside, that is.

Next stop was the world's largest mall, West Edmonton Mall. I'm not too thrilled on malls, but when I saw a fake whale in the middle of it, I knew I had to throw Paige and Susan in it.

We then headed a little more south to Saskatoon, Calgary, and Winnipeg. We LOVE Winnipeg! We had some amazing food, as usual, AND awesome Street Teamers (sign up here) hung out with us!

That about sums everything up! Come join in on the fun in Toronto or Quebec City! Join the masses in signing our petition to help the poor 625 million chickens in Canada that are being tortured each year (who are definitely not nuggets!).

Hearts and farts,

Cody, Paige, and Susan

What Do Frozen Nostril Hair and Food Have in Common? February 1, 2008

Posted by Marta at February 1, 2008 9:37 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

This last week we wrapped up our journey with The Cool Kids in New York City and Toronto. NYC is a little intimidating with all of the traffic and crazy stores, but I think the food intimidates me more. Vegetarian's Paradise 2 slightly beat Red Bamboo simply because they had a sandwich that was wider than my face.

So, New York was sweet to us but Toronto gave us kisses that won us over. The kiss was in the form of Ethiopian cuisine thanks to M&B Yummy Cakes and Desserts Cafe.

We ordered the 'beef' stew—of course it was vegan friendly—and WOWZERS, no bowl!

Since we're no longer with The Cool Kids, we are joining our friends in Silverstein for a little bit to let Canada know that chickens aren't nuggets!

Now, what do frozen nostril hair and food have in common you ask? Hopefully nothing. Come say hello and let it be known that you're not a nugget!

-Cody, Paige, and Susan

Taste of Chaos and Silverstein UK Tours November 27, 2007

Posted by Marta at November 27, 2007 2:11 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Here's a special guest blog from Martin with peta2 UK!

I'm out on the road at the moment and I thought I would drop by and let you guys know how it's going tabling against Burberry. We are getting a great response at all the shows and I would like to say hi to all the people I have met over the past few days and a big thank you to all the Street Teamers who have helped me so far.

I got to try vegan haggis, neeps and tatties (to all you non-Scottish people, that's haggis, turnips and potatoes) in Glasgow and I have to say that I am completely sold on it. Yeah I know it sounds nasty, but if you ever get the chance, make sure you try it.

If any of you are out for any of the coming UK Silverstein dates make sure you pop by the stall and say hey.

Peace

Martin

PS - Oh one more thing: Make sure you check out this mission—The Anti-KFC Bulletin Bonanza.

Words from the Road, peta2 Style...part deux November 4, 2007

Posted by Nicole at November 4, 2007 5:21 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBack

More delicious dishes and complete pandemonium from Silverstein's "I Am Not A Nugget" tour is comin' your way! Silverstein and peta2's outreach staff are out and about informing anyone and everyone about the fact that chickens are not currently included in the Humane Slaughter Act. Because of this fact, pretty much anything can be done to chickens raised for food and no one's protecting them. We're encouraging people that are outraged by this to sign our petition that is asking the government to include chickens in the Act. This would offer the birds just a tad bit more protection than what they're currently getting. It's a step in the right direction and a little's better than nothin', ya know what I'm saying. Anyway, here's a break from the action. Take it away my dear and delightful, Cody...

Hello from the ever so beautiful Vermont! Folks, let me introduce you to some amazing food that we have been able to embark upon.

susan%20bday.jpg

First we celebrated Susan's day of getting old in Coopersburg, PA. What is that glowing in her face you ask? Well, what's glowing are a couple of incredible cakes from my favorite bakery called Vegan Treats! I'll let you decide which dessert looks better.

cakes.jpg

On Halloween we got to "chill" in Rochester, NY, and eat trash! Not literally, but we did enjoy a plate named "the trash plate" at a place called Dogtown. The plate consisted of two veggie dogs, chili, and fries! Whoa doggie! I need to grow up...

scary%20susan.jpg

That night we showed the town that Halloween is every day for chickens and it's hell for them. Think about it, chickens have their throats slit and are sometimes scalded to death in feather removal tanks. That's on top of having to suffer with broken wings and legs. I haven't seen that in any horror film, have you?

Alright folks, time to cruise and we'll see ya'll at the Saints and Sinners Fest!

Whoa dang! The Silverstein "I Am Not a Nugget" Tour has taken over the nation for a few weeks already, and I'm just now telling you about it? It's time for me to stop being lame, and time for you check out what's going down.

Let's start with a brief introduction of the peta2 crew. That's Paige on the far left with one wicked tattoo. In the middle chowin down is Ohio native Susan. And then there's...me. We're not Nuggets, and neither are you. Woot. Okay, now you're ready to peep at what we've been up to.

Tasty food has been engulfed along the way, and I now claim Sidney's Cafe as one of my favorite places to eat (thanks to their French Toast).

Josh Reporting From Silverstein's Tour Bus June 29, 2007

Posted by Marta at June 29, 2007 9:08 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

Hey everyone! I wasn't much in the mood for writing, however, I made a video on our tour bus. A couple of the peta2 summer staffers think the video is funny, so I hope you enjoy it too!

The new song "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow" from our CD that comes out next week is on my mind lately since we're on the road, so give it a listen on July 3 when it hits stores. Then come to a show and let me know what you think of it.

That's all for today. I'm pretty sure Neil and Shane will have more for you early next week.

I'm gonna go hide backstage before Billy takes his bike and rides over my face for eating some of his hummus. See Ya!

Billy Checking In With You June 28, 2007

Posted by Marta at June 28, 2007 4:15 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

Hey, this is Billy from Silverstein. Yesterday we were in New York City, playing at the Nokia Theater in Times Square at a sold out show.

The day before yesterday we had a day off, so after a few quick interviews in the morning, I had the entire afternoon to hang out in the city. I met up with my friend Aileen, who was getting ready to leave to work for Shirts for a Cure on the Warped Tour. I was real excited to get to see her before she left for the entire summer. I took a cab to her place, where our band's entire crew had already headed to hang out and take showers. Right away Aileen, Cheapie (our guitar tech) and I headed to Red Bamboo (one of NYC's finest, and my favourite vegan restaurant in the entire country). I ordered my favourite meal, the Soul Chicken Parmesan Hero sandwich (with vegan cheese)! The sandwich was HUGE, and I ended up taking some to go to eat later.

Most of us stayed at Aileen's apartment so we didn't have to travel back to our bus which was parked up in New Jersey. We all met up at the venue yesterday at noon for a photo shoot, and when that was done, I headed back to my friend's to pick up my bike. I've been really excited to have my bike out on this tour, as it has been my means of getting good vegan food every day, not to mention some exercise!

I got on my bike and headed back to Red Bamboo to meet up with my friend Pulin for lunch! This time I had the Bamboo Tofu Club sandwich, which is another favourite of mine. It was nice to hang out with Pulin and his friend Joe. Afterwards, Pulin and I took the subway back up to the venue, which let me avoid the fifty block bike ride, especially since it appeared to have started raining. I almost got my bike caught in the subway gate, but I ended up just having to pay an extra $2 to get it unstuck. (Long story)

Also, my arm is still pretty swollen from getting tattooed in Philly, but it looks great, and my mom even likes it! I'm really excited for the rest of this tour, and our new CD that comes out on Tuesday. It's called Arrivals & Departures, be sure to go check it out next week! Keep checking back for more blog updates from this awesome tour!

<3 billy // silverstein.

PS - Here's another video of me eating some vegan pizza.

Silverstein's Exclusive Tour Blog! June 27, 2007

More Blogs From Silverstein
Part 2 - Billy
Part 3 - Josh
Part 4 - Neil
Part 5 - Shane

Yo kids. I'm out with Silverstein right now and they are super stoked to update you on the tour and whatnot. So I've got them writing blogs for the rest of this week and part of the next. There will be some hilarious videos and pics, too. Keep your peepers (that's your eyes) open and check in for more, ok? Now heeeeeeerrrrreeeee's Paul from Silverstein...

-Pulin

Hey everyone—Paul from Silverstein here. We're hanging out with the peta2 crew on our tour with Rise Against, Comeback Kid, and Only Crime, and we wanted to check in to let you know how it's all going. Almost two weeks into this tour, everything has been phenomenal. It's great to see every one of you who have been singing along to old songs and checking out some new songs from our upcoming release, Arrivals and Departures. Definitely a lot of familiar faces, too.

The show at the Electric Factory in Philly a couple nights back was awesome, and just as incredible was the food beforehand. We had vegan Philly cheesesteaks! I would've taken some pics from the restaurant, but sorry I was way too busy shoving that food down my throat. Mmmm. I did take a minute to record this for you though:

Silverstein wants to give you a peek into the shows and check in over the next few days before the new record comes out, so check back for even more exclusive stuff from us. We've worked really hard on our new release that comes out on July 3rd, so please pick it up. We have some brand new tracks on our MySpace, too so have a listen.

This tour goes all summer long (with peta2 along for the ride, too!) so I hope you can make it out and scream along with us!

-Paul / Silverstein
