Free Stuff Friday: Skate Deck and peta2 Stickers! November 21, 2008

Happy Friday everyone! I want to introduce you to my friend Shane Harrison who graciously donated a skate deck he designed for this week's Free Stuff Friday. Shane lives in Georgia, works for Woodward Skateparks, and spends his time making art and hanging out with his animal companions Tasha and Sinatra (pictured below).

peta2: What are the names of your animal companions?
SH: Tasha is the name of my dog. She has a few nicknames as well. I often call her BIG Black. My cat's name is Sinatra. I gave her this name because of her crazy blue eyes and she has a BIG mouth. She's so loud. She meows all the time and makes crazy noises. She and I actually have conversations. Seriously, we do. We don't know what each other is saying but we know how to chat. Her nickname is "the Mouth of the South".

peta2: How did Tasha and Sinatra come into your life?
SH: Tasha came into my life due to an old friend. I lived with him and his dog kind of fell in love with me and not him. I paid more attention to her so she took a liking to me. An old girlfriend that I lived with wanted Sinatra because she was looking for a cat, and as soon as Sinatra came home, she fell in love with me. I think it's because of the noises I make. I'm a nerd and I'm always making noises or trying to mimic some kind of noise that I hear. That's how we began to talk to each other.

peta2: What is your favorite thing about having these two in your life?
SH: The love and friendship that I get. They both greet me when I come home and they're both excited to see me. They both have so much personality.

peta2: How do you feel about products that are tested on animals?
SH: I'm not too stoked on that idea. Animals aren't going to be using these products, so why are they testing them on animals? What about testing them on people? I'm sure there are people in this world that wouldn't give a hoot about being tested on, especially for a little money.

peta2: How do you feel about people who wear fur? (Especially knowing that fur farms in China kill dogs and cats for their fur.)
SH: It's pretty lame. Modern man can make so much from cotton and hemp and other materials that there's no reason to use fur.

Shane knows his stuff when it comes to animal rights, and it seems like he has some animal magnetism! You can check out his MySpace to see more of his art!
