Rise Against, Cobra Starship, 10 For 10, and Rock the Bells! August 6, 2009
Posted by Marta at August 6, 2009 4:33 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBackSad as it is to say, last week we had to say goodbye to the amazing Rise Against tour and all of the awesome bands on it. But not to anyone's surprise, the Rise guys showed their notorious support for peta2 and animals to the very end with shout outs and Joe, their bassist, even wearing one of our peta2 shirts on stage in Buffalo, NY!

As they headed out to do big things overseas, we left to start a more cozy, intimate trip across the US with infamous animal lovers, Cobra Starship. One of my favorite things about this band is how much they love their fans. They intentionally booked small venues for this tour so that they could be closer to their fans when on stage, and have time to talk to each and every one of them after the show. How sweet! It works out perfect for us as well. We can honestly say that we have had conversations with every single person at each show so far about the hideous product testing methods that major cosmetic and household product companies are still using to torture animals.

Even better: Our stickers go so well with Cobra Starship merch—it's like we planned it.

And I'm not the only one with news from the road—Paige has been up to some interesting things as well ...
This week we hit up a few more 10 for 10 shows and Rock the Bells in Vancouver (featuring rapper Murs). There has been an overwhelmingly great response to our McCruelty campaign, in which we are demanding that McDonald's suppliers end their malicious treatment of chickens. These very social birds are being tormented and hung from shackles while their throats are slit, all while conscious.
Billy and Alicia must have talked to thousands of people last week who agreed that cruelty to animals is wrong!

We're also welcoming back Daniel to our outreach team! He was just in South America with his band, Die Young.

Keep on the lookout for us this week on 10 for 10, Rock the Bells, Cobra Starship, and Warped Tour!!!
See you soon,

peta2 Rocks at Festivals and Texts to Save Hearts July 15, 2009
Posted by Rachel-O at July 15, 2009 3:57 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBackSo, things have been CRAZY since I last checked in from the road. While the Rise Against tour was on a short break, we switched the style up a bit and tried our luck out at the hip hop festival, Rock the Bells, and the Hardcore tour, 10 for $10.

At Rock the Bells, we found awesome amounts of support for our McCruelty campaign asking McDonald's corporation to buy their chicken solely from slaughterhouses that use a less cruel method of slaughter called Controlled Atmosphere Killing (CAK). I mean, after we informed the crowd that their McChicken might've been the product of a fully conscious bird having his throat slit open before being thrown into a tank full of scalding water, how could they not sign?

10 for $10 was pretty intense. We did the first three dates of the tour in Philly, NYC, and B-More, some of the toughest cities out there. But, the response for animals was amazing! No matter how tough, everyone took a second to check out our Animal Testing Breaks Hearts campaign against the gratuitous, unnecessary, and cruel animal tests that some of the most widely distributed cosmetic and household product companies still perform. I'm sure it didn't hurt that we had one of our amazing peta2 interns, Rob, come out to work his magic for animals!

As I type, we are on the way to meet back up with the Rise Against tour in Dallas, Texas (I can't wait)! One question for you Cowboys—are you heartbreakers?? Let's hope not!
Now for Warped tour, it's all you Joey ...
What's up guys? We're still having just as much fun out here on Warped Tour as Heather and her crew are having at the multiple stops they're making. I've got some exciting new things to speak to y'all about. First off is our new text petition campaign. If you're at Warped this summer, look for signs or the big banner at our table telling you how you can sign our Animal Testing Breaks Hearts petition through text message. It's quick, easy and FUN!
Our table spot is a great place to pick DVD's (featuring bands like A Day to Remember, Chiodos and Rise Against, stickers and a shopping guide listing products that are NOT tested on animals. Another fun thing to do is head over here, and be our friends on the Warped Tour website!

Keep coming to the shows and showing your support guys! The animals need all the help we can give them!
See you at the next show ...

Breaking Hearts and Taking Names July 2, 2009

Warped Tour has officially started and so has our Animal Testing Breaks Hearts campaign! To start this off right, part of the peta2 Road Crew has been plowing through cities telling people how animal testing is a true heartbreaker and to sign our petition to help end these pointless acts of brutality. We're asking cosmetics companies to stop doing cruel, painful and pointless tests on bunnies, rats, and other animals in labs nationwide. We've been hitting the crowds hard to let them know about all the great companies that are kind enough not to torture animals for no reason other than selfish profit. For a whole list of companies that refuse to do tests on animals, check this out!

During the show in Ventura, CA, we took the bunny out into the crowd during 3OH!3's set. The crowd had a great time dancing with the bunny, signing the petition, and hearing great music. It was a win-win for everyone! Stay tuned for more from us on this year's Warped Tour. I'm going to let Paige take it from here to give you some updates on what she's been up to recently ...

Thanks, Joey! We also kicked off Rock the Bells in Chicago and Detroit. This Hip Hop crowd jumped right on board with speaking out against McDonald's cruel practices. Chickens are slaughtered by McDonald's suppliers using outdated methods like slitting their throats while fully conscious. Now the biggest seller of chicken meat in the U.S., McDonald's has the responsibility—and the ability—to reduce this abuse by demanding that its U.S. suppliers use a less cruel method of slaughter.

Featured in our pictures are our AMAZING volunteers, Peter and Ian, that we met doing College Outreach on their campus! Want to make changes at your school? Or do you want to become an intern? There are so many ways to help animals—find some here.
That's all for now from the Road Warriors. Check back in next week for more updates and more tour pics!

Health Tips from Method Man and Redman June 2, 2009

Method Man and Redman go together like peanut butter and jelly. And seeing as the two are vegetarians, they probably enjoy a good PB&J as much as I do! Ya heard, Method Man and Redman are proud to be meat-free!
In a recent interview featured on MTV's Buzzworthy Blog, the hip hop duo spoke up about staying in shape and offered tips for being vegetarian. Their tidbits of animal-friendly info included going green by eating yummy, eco-friendly foods like edamame; shopping at stores like Whole Foods for delicious on-the-go veggie meals; and of course steering clear of McCruelty ... err, I mean McDonald's. Staying far away from Ronald McDonald this summer is sure to keep you looking and feeling good for those pool parties!
You can check out the full article here. Apparently being in one of the most respected hip hop groups of all time and being veg go hand in hand! Method Man joins Wu-Tang members Masta Killa, RZA, and GZA in giving up the flesh.
P.S. Come out to Rock the Bells this summer to catch performances from RZA, GZA, and pretty much every other artist in hop hop. Of course it goes without saying that peta2 will be there! Duh!
peta2 Is On Tour, Come Hang Out With Us June 26, 2007
Posted by Marta at June 26, 2007 12:53 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBackThe summer is officially here and that means peta2 is on tons of summer tours. We're going to be at Warped Tour, Sounds of the Underground, Pitchfork and Rock the Bells festivals, and we're currently on tours with Rise Against and Silverstein, as well as First Blood. There will no doubt be others thrown in there too, so basically the moral of the story is that if you plan on leaving your house this summer, please look for peta2.
It's possible that you've already run into some of our crew over the last month or so at shows or festivals. It's been an amazing time from what I hear and they have been oozing with sappy stories about how they really love meeting you all. Please check out our dates listed on peta2's MySpace page and find us at the shows. We'd love to give you a high five, some stickers, and most importantly have your help spreading the word about animal rights at the event. So find us, help animals, and then report all that back for Street Team points, ok? We've got some amazing new stickers and other stuff to play with too!
And just to make this all a bit more friendly, we've put up some photos and brief bios of the summer staffers you'll see around the US and Canada so click here to read about them.

To all you non-US and Canadian people, be patient...we're working on getting to you soon! We do love you though. Promise.
So can we expect to see you soon?
-Pulin
