UK Christmas reindeer reindeet meat
Here's a special guest blog from Sarah over at peta2 UK. Sar—when will you be shipping me one of your homemade mince pies?

Compared to Marta you'd think that I don't really like Christmas. I only started watching Christmas movies in November and I just made my first batch of mince pies last week when I put up my Christmas tree.
When I think of Christmas, I think of Christmas trees, mince pies, Father Christmas, elves and reindeers! So I'm a little grossed out by the fact that some places in the UK are serving our four legged friends, Rudolph, Prancer, Dasher, Vixen... Reindeer if you didn't already get it.
I'm confused by the fact that some people would even want to, let alone actually eat reindeer, since they are such a symbol for Christmas—just like the turkey is for Thanksgiving.
I'm not too concerned that Father Christmas may not be able to make it (how can he get here without his reindeer?), but more concerned about the fact that thousands of turkeys, pigs and other animals are also going to be killed throughout the world at Christmas—and every other time of year too. These animals face a short miserable life in dirty warehouses, suffering from broken bones and painful diseases, only to end up next to the Brussels sprouts on Nan's dinner-plate.
The only thing that will be next to my Brussels sprouts will be my Redwoods Cheatin' Roast—yum yum!
What will be next to your Brussels sprouts (or mashed potatoes, carrots, etc.)?
