peta2 in South Africa! May 7, 2008

Posted by Ryan at May 7, 2008 1:35 PM | TrackBack

We love our jobs. We in peta2 have the distinct honor of corresponding with student groups every day to help them raise awareness about animal rights locally. As such, it takes a lot to impress us... but it happened today.

That's because we received an incredible report from the Rhodes Organisation for Animal Rights (ROAR), in SOUTH AFRICA (yes, that's how they spell "organization" in Africa).

Clearly somebody took the time to watch our "Tabling On Campus" video, since these students really know how to get people talking about animal rights!

And talk about being resourceful. We're always happy to send out free materials, like stickers, DVDs, and such, but given the costs to ship halfway around the world, this group was creative enough to download our stencils and make their own bags to give out!

The results speak for themselves:

  • Their student group now consists of over 170 students!

  • They see their "I Am Not a Nugget" bags being carried ALL over campus!

  • They've held film screenings, and various other events on campus.
  • They have started a clinic in their town to help animals who are forced to carry heavy loads around for their whole lives.

If they can do it halfway around the world, then YOU CAN DO IT HERE! Want to get started? Hit me up.

Report From Silverstein's "I Am Not a Nugget" Tour! October 17, 2007

Posted by Lara Sanders at October 17, 2007 10:26 AM | TrackBack

Whoa dang! The Silverstein "I Am Not a Nugget" Tour has taken over the nation for a few weeks already, and I'm just now telling you about it? It's time for me to stop being lame, and time for you check out what's going down.

Let's start with a brief introduction of the peta2 crew. That's Paige on the far left with one wicked tattoo. In the middle chowin down is Ohio native Susan. And then there's...me. We're not Nuggets, and neither are you. Woot. Okay, now you're ready to peep at what we've been up to.

Folks are being sticker-fied at every stop on the tour. I'm serious—we're making sure you're all leaving with some loveable stickers. Even those that freak me out get stickers! True story.

Tasty food has been engulfed along the way, and I now claim Sidney's Cafe as one of my favorite places to eat (thanks to their French Toast).

Okay, it's time for me to get my munch on, but we will be seeing you soon! Check out the tour dates and win free tickets to come see us here!

"Nugget" Hits New York! September 20, 2007

Posted by Ryan at September 20, 2007 4:11 PM | TrackBack

It's always important to balance out the serious issues animals face these days with some upbeat and fun activities as well.

Case in point: my recent visit to Hofstra University in NY. We were originally there to display our brand new "Liberation Project" exhibit, which shows the similarities between previous human oppression, such as slavery and child labor, with the current exploitations of animals. Important stuff for sure, but not exactly a mood lifter...

Of course, we can only go so long talking about something so serious before we break out the costumes and have a little fun! Armed with our oversized chicken costume and a limitless supply of free stickers, I give you, the "Nugget" on campus!

Want to start a buzz on your campus? Check out our new college section for some ideas, or just email me to get started!

Later, alligators!
