Nugget Speaks Out Against McCruelty! November 2, 2009

Here's the latest way for you to take action against McCruelty!

Step 1. Print out this cute Nugget and letter to McDonald's.

Step 2. Since chickens can't speak in their own defense (at least not in a way we can understand), write your own message in the speech bubble for them! Some suggestions include, "I Am Not A Nugget," "McCruelty Sucks," and "Help Me!" But be as creative (just keep it polite!) as you'd like!

Step 3. Sign your name to the bottom of this letter!

Step 4. Take a picture of you with Nugget speaking up for animals and e-mail it to us at StreetTeam@peta2.com to get 2,500 Street Team points!

Step 5. Mail your Nugget and letter to McDonald's! The address is on the file you printed out!

We'll feature some of our favorite photos on upcoming blogs, too, so make sure you send those in as soon as possible!

You're all familiar with our McCruelty campaign right? Canada, Nugget, & a Sumo Wrestler? October 2, 2009

Hey guys! This is Renee and I'm super excited to be one of peta2's new tour leaders! We have a great crew this year that is going to kick some major ass for animals!

We spent the weekend at College Fest in Boston, MA and we met a lot of people interested in our McCruelty campaign. Each person was shocked and horrified to hear about the abuse McDonalds puts their chickens through—why would anyone want to eat these gentle beings?

One of those beings is our dear friend, Nugget.



I'm not saying who won ... I'll let you work it out amongst yourselves. College's have been great ... but I'm off to Tech n9ne! Watch Out!

Thanks Ren! Hey friends, it's Joey once again reporting from the road about how we've been getting folks involved with saving animals. A crew of us were also up in Canada the majority of the week touring with our friends Silverstein and A Day to Remember. We had a great time and impacted a lot of people thanks to the hard work and skill of our new crew members, Tyler (a former Street Teamer!) and Rob.





Before one of the shows, in Ottawa, Ontario, a flock of seagulls—insert 80's joke here—were just hanging out in the parking lot so I decided to hang out with them. They all showed great amounts of personality as they reacted to me. Some were dancing with excitement, some were competitively chasing others, and some would just scream at me until I paid attention to them.

This just reminded me that if these birds have such personalities and character then what makes people think chickens aren't the same? Chickens are actually highly intelligent, fun loving and emotional creatures who sing to their young while they're still in the egg! A group of chickens will even play with a ball if you put it in the middle of them—so why are we allowing such cruelty to occur to these interesting animals? Slitting the throat of a fully conscious chicken as he or she hangs upside down in shackles isn't OK and that's why our McCruelty petition is going around and we thank each one of you that has signed it so far.

I'm heading to Boston University right now to help their student group, Boston University Vegetarian Society, get better veg options in their dining halls. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

School Supplies—peta2 Style September 9, 2009

Things peta2 Street Teamers are good at (short list):

• Winning campaigns against companies like Delia's (aka: saving animals)
• Being creative
• Spreading the word about animal rights
• Starting animal rights clubs at their schools
• Did we mention being creative?

I don't know about you guys, but I was kind of—okay, really—into school supplies (math class, not so much). I loved covering my folders, notebooks and book covers with stickers, album covers, and photos of my favorite bands.

Sadly, everyone's favorite peta2 (not a) Nugget hadn't been born just yet, so my school supplies were definitely lacking, but I'd be willing to bet that most of you have peta2 stickers and leaflets somewhere around your house that you could use to get the word out at your school.

One of the things I love about working here is all the random, fun stuff that happens around the office. For instance, someone decided to see what Nugget would look like with a mustache. And so you have this photo ...
