Snow Fun and Cute Cake! January 28, 2009

Posted by Marta at January 28, 2009 4:41 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 10 ) | TrackBack

It's always nice to get to share the great pictures that come our way with you, so check out this recent crop of awesomeness we've received. I love seeing Street Teamers using what's available to send a strong message. Spreading the vegan word with snow and cake? Heck yeah!

Check out the "Go Vegan, You'll Live Longer Than Me!" sign that Jennie, her sister, and her brother made for their snowman. I wish that cuteness never had to melt.

Then there's Katie's "Meat is Murder" message—an awesome way to decorate a dirty car, if you ask me.

And look at this amazing vegan cake that Eileen made in her cake decorating class. I could so go for a piece right now ... please? Eileen? Vegan cake makes my stomach most pleased.

Find Out First: Who Will peta2 Go After Next? December 3, 2008

Posted by Rachel-O at December 3, 2008 5:53 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

PETA is notorious. Whether it's the Trollsen Twins, our new Cooking Mama game, or having pretty much the cutest mascot ever (Not a Nugget of course!). We're on the cutting edge of everything, and when you think animal rights, you think of PETA and peta2.

We launch campaigns against animal abusers, show undercover investigations into the institutions that exploit animals, and we have the best Street Team in the world—and most of all, we win—with your help, of course.

We're about to launch our new campaign against one of the biggest fur pushers out there, who makes millions off of animals being electrocuted, drowned, beaten and poisoned for their clothing line. We've tried contacting them, but they're heartless. We're done being patient, and we want your voice to be the first heard for the millions of animals killed every year to end up on someone's back. We want to tell you about the campaign before anyone else, so we're going to text it to you—but you have to sign up for our text alerts first!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up now to get the announcement before anyone else!

Stay loud!
-Rachel

Retiring The Nugget April 1, 2008

Posted by Pulin Modi at April 1, 2008 8:59 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 30 ) | TrackBack

Hey everyone, it's probably no shock to you that the day has finally come to put our cute little "Not A Nugget" character to rest. That's right, we're retiring the Nugget after many years of hard work speaking up for animals around the world. He's getting sort of tired and played out and we're tossing around ideas of using more mature animals either way like donkeys and llamas. They're a bit more noble than a baby chicken, don't you think? We want people to get active and cute chickens just don't scream Animal Liberation Now!!!

Anyway, here are some photos by which to remember our good times with the Nugget.

Look for Donny the Donkey, Lucy the Llama, or other new peta2 mascots coming soon!

-Pulin

Report From Silverstein's "I Am Not a Nugget" Tour! October 17, 2007

Posted by Lara Sanders at October 17, 2007 10:26 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

Whoa dang! The Silverstein "I Am Not a Nugget" Tour has taken over the nation for a few weeks already, and I'm just now telling you about it? It's time for me to stop being lame, and time for you check out what's going down.

Let's start with a brief introduction of the peta2 crew. That's Paige on the far left with one wicked tattoo. In the middle chowin down is Ohio native Susan. And then there's...me. We're not Nuggets, and neither are you. Woot. Okay, now you're ready to peep at what we've been up to.

Folks are being sticker-fied at every stop on the tour. I'm serious—we're making sure you're all leaving with some loveable stickers. Even those that freak me out get stickers! True story.

Tasty food has been engulfed along the way, and I now claim Sidney's Cafe as one of my favorite places to eat (thanks to their French Toast).

Okay, it's time for me to get my munch on, but we will be seeing you soon! Check out the tour dates and win free tickets to come see us here!

Where Have You Been With Nugget Lately? July 5, 2007

Posted by Marta at July 5, 2007 1:17 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBack

Chickens are the most abused animals on the planet. It's absolutely sickening to know that the only law that protects farmed animals in the United States—the Humane Slaughter Act—doesn't include chickens. And it's totally ridiculous, considering that nearly 96% of all animals killed for food are chickens.

We want to make sure that chickens aren't scalded alive in defeathering tanks and don't have their throats slit while still fully conscious. No caring person wants to see animals treated like crap, right? So we just launched our "I Am Not A Nugget" campaign last Friday, the first day of Warped Tour, to ask people to sign our petition to have chickens protected under the Humane Slaughter Act.

We're going to have you do all sorts of fun things this summer to help us get the word out to people that chickens aren't nuggets, and to kick things off, we want you to send us photos of all the fun things you do with Nugget this summer! You know, a little something like this:

Go here to download your nugget and print it out. Then color it and tweak it however you like. Take a picture of yourself and your nugget, then upload your photo here. We'll feature some of our favorites on the blog. Here are a few other pictures that Street Teamers have submitted to give you a little inspiration:

Click here to check out the rest of the photos, and then get to it! My hope is to see the nugget anywhere and everywhere this summer. Nugget Goes Camping. Nugget At A Picnic. Nugget Rock Climbing. Nugget Watching Transformers. Nugget Goes Bird Watching. Come on, make me happy! :)

Have fun!

Marta

PS - Okay, so I have to share this comment we received on one of our YouTube videos. And people think WE'RE crazy...

"kids out of marraige are treated worse when parent split then a cow or pig does when it's slaughtered. if she knew a n y t h i n g she'd know that meat is important. i don't she can say full branch chain amino acids...nore can she speak. peta sucks. they'd rather cry dead meat then cry ignored child, raped child, drug addictied child."
