MTVU Woodie Award Nominees October 14, 2009

Posted by Megan Rondeau at October 14, 2009 5:58 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

Last week the nominees for the 2009 MTVU Woodie Awards were announced, and of course peta2 was repped hard! The Woodie Awards come around every December just in time to give college students a much needed break from cramming for exams. The show always hosts an impressive list of performers, including Gym Class Heroes, All Time Low, Imogen Heap, and Vampire Weekend, and this year should be just as amazing!

Death Cab for Cutie and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are both nominated for Best Video, which has previously been won by Motion City Soundtrack and Say Anything. Overnight sensation and vegetarian heartthrob Christofer Drew (a.k.a. Never Shout Never) is up for the Breaking Woodie award, which was taken home by There for Tomorrow at last year's festivities. Other notable peta2 contenders include Tech N9ne for Left Field Woodie and P.O.S. in the category with the fiercest competition, Performing Woodie. I gotta say, I saw P.O.S. a few times during my stay on Warped Tour this year and he killed it! He's got my vote! Who are you voting for?

Howdy St. Louis! Have You Ever Been To The Pageant!? August 28, 2009

Posted by Cody Ammerman at August 28, 2009 10:48 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Usually most of us dream about traveling in/with a band sometime in our life, right? Since I've been involved with peta2 I've had the opportunity to do just that (check out the different jobs available here at PETA)! I've been on tours that featured artists/bands Bayside, Chiodos, The Cool Kids, Comeback Kid, hellogoodbye, Silverstein, and many more (not to brag). Along with touring you get to meet some awesome people and stop at some awesome venues. One of my personal favorite venues happens to be in St. Louis, The Pageant.

The Pageant has an amazing set up, is in a great area, there are always awesome bands playing, and I can't forget about the amazing staff! The venue has hosted quite a few non-profit organizations in the past and peta2 is happy to be one of them. The last time I was in St. Louis I popped by a show that peta2's friends in Never Shout Never were playing at The Pageant and I had the chance to spread the word about how Meat's Not Green—remember, eating meat is like driving a whole fleet of SUVs around the block every time you sit down for dinner.

If you're on the Street Team and live in/near St. Louis and would like to help in the future drop us a line at peta2@peta2.com! Also, The Pageant will be hosting the upcoming Hanson and hellogoodbye, Brand New, The Used, Ludo, Cobra Starship, AFI, and many more shows, so make sure you check them out if you're around!

The Midwest, Chris Drew, and Vegan Cupcakes November 20, 2008

Posted by Marta at November 20, 2008 4:11 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

This week with hellogoodbye we hit up the Midwest: Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, etc.

We had our first snow in Chicago, and we also got to go to some of my favorite veg places—all the while telling the Midwest that Meat's Not Green. In fact, every second, animals raised for food in the U.S. produce 89,000 pounds of waste: That's 130 times more than is produced by the country's entire human population. Now that's a lot of poop! I would say too much poop! Want less poop in your life? Try going vegetarian for a week.

We have some pretty hip vegetarians on this tour, like Chris Drew of Never Shout Never. This cutie knows what's up and rocks a Meat's Not Green button!

We also met this awesome chick in Chicago, IL, who was sporting a PETA pin, as well as a 'V Is for Vegan' pin!

And the question that is on all of our minds: Where did I eat this week? Well I had a "save the fish" sandwich at Web of Life in Cleveland, OH:

Casandra got face deep in vegan chocolate cake and Teriyaki tofu from Balasia in Emmaus, PA:

And of course, we stuffed ourselves with vegan cupcakes from Whole Foods:

That says it all.

Jam out

Paige

East Coast Activism November 16, 2008

Posted by Marta at November 16, 2008 2:31 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

This week on the Hellogoodbye tour we hit up the East Coast visiting Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, and of course my home town of Philly, informing Eastcoastians that Meat's Not Green. In fact, if you haven't signed the petition to get warning labels put on meat packages displaying the ways it destroys the environment, do so now! Go ahead I'll wait...

Not convinced yet? Producing a single hamburger uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles and enough water for 17 showers. That's more showers than I took all summer on Warped Tour!

And as we all know, there are tons of veg options out there—heck, you know that's my specialty! In fact feast your eyes on "beef" and broccoli from Grasshopper in Boston, and "Chick n Cheese" quesadillas from Govinda's in Philly! Oh dang.

It's that time to give love to the amazing kids we meet everyday! Some Street Teamers came out to the show and showed some love to peta2 and the animals!

And what fun would it be without a silly tour pic? Thanks to Casey, touring guitarist for Never Shout Never, for repping Meat's Not Green—and for going veg!

Stay Classy

Paige
