Cobra Starship Says Down with Fur! April 28, 2008

Posted by Nicole at April 28, 2008 9:37 AM | TrackBack

The very good people of Cobra Starship are at it again. And when I say again, I mean Gabe and crew are helping more animals. Oh I love that Cobra, just love 'em!

gabe%20pic.jpg

This time Gabe, along with the rest of the fine Cobra clan, have teamed up with their Fueled By Ramen family, Youth Noise, and peta2 to say "¡Down With Fur!"

Gabe and the gang realize that millions of animals being drowned, beaten to death, strangled, gassed, electrocuted, and even skinned alive every year for the fur on their backs is just plain wrong. And did you know that many of these defenseless animals are cats and dogs, too? Fur is reprehensible, outdated, and completely unnecessary and that's why Cobra is speaking out against this filthy, hideous industry and decided to make it their cause on Youth Noise. Check out their brand-spankin' new widget below and click on the "grab it" button to get the code to add it to your page!

Easy as all hell, now wasn't it?

Also make sure you head over to our friends at Youth Noise to check out what other important issues people are talking about and join a cause yourself. Of course we're all passionate about animal rights here, but we also recognize that there are a lot of other important issues out there that need your attention, too. Youth Noise and their "MyCauseIs" tool is a great way to learn and get involved. Our dear Cobra friends want you to get off your asses and do something to make the world a better place. So whatever cause affects you most, get to it!

Oh and remember, like Gabe says, "Throw your fangs in the air, if you a true playa (but you can't be a playa if you're getting played by the fur trade)."

Did I mention how much I love Cobra? If I already did, well then I'm just re-iterating the fact with total and complete glee.

Hope all is lovely.

Danger Radio Contest! April 10, 2008

Posted by Nicole at April 10, 2008 3:50 PM | TrackBack

Guess who's giving away an adorable tee for your perfect little pooch? Well, it's Danger Radio, Neighborhoodies, Viva La Rock, and peta2 but of course! Read on to see Danger Radio's singer and animal lover, Andrew, gush over his five, yes that's right, FIVE dogs! Then be sure to comment below to win a free tee for your favorite four-legged friend, courtesy of our pals over at Neighborhoodies! Take it away, Andrew:

What's new and exciting for Danger Radio?

Well we just finished recording our album and it should be dropping into stores this summer! We have a ton of amazing tours lined up with some of our really good friends. So we are all really excited for that and that's about it for now. It's just amazing though to finally see things happening. We have been a band for years now and are finally putting out our first album. It's a freakin' dream come true.

Do you have any companion animals? If so, what are their names and tell me some cute/funny stories about them!

Haha I have 5 dogs! That probably sounds really absurd, but what happened was when my sister and I were a little younger (more like just 3 years ago or so) we randomly found 4 dogs (puppies). All in different places, a few months apart from each other and just had to take them home. One of them our friend actually found at a house while driving to our home and saw these kids chasing this poor 4 month old puppy around with a stick and she just felt the need to take it away from them and brought it over. I don't really know what my parents were thinking when they kept saying yes, but they just couldn't turn any of them away. It's totally fine though because those dogs get more attention than my sister and I do. Their names are: Bella, Hunter, Buddy, Ari, and Galla. Buddy is the one we have had the longest...and when I'm at home he comes up to my room and sleeps in bed with me every night until I fall asleep because he knows I am kind of scared of sleeping by myself. Then he leaves after I pass out.

What do you think about people who leave their dogs chained up in the backyard 24/7?

I think that is cruel. Would you do that to your children? Haha I don't know. If you can't handle how needy your dog is, then you shouldn't have one. I never really had any pets growing up and then in the last 4 years we got a little more than we ever expected to have. And they are definitely a blessing and have added so much happiness to our lives, but they are a whole lot of work. They need a lot of attention and love and I definitely don't think they should be chained up and left alone outside 24/7.

Why do you think it's important to speak up for something that you believe in?

It's always important to speak your mind and tell people your opinion on things. If you don't say it, there is a good chance no one else will. If everyone just held back and never spoke out about anything, think about how different the world would be today.

Thanks so much, Andrew!!

Now don't forget to comment below for your chance to win! Tell me who the lucky recipient would be if you won the very fashionable doggie tee from Neighborhoodies and you just might win it!

Contest ends May 1 and the lucky winner will be notified by May 8.

Just so you know...by giving us your details here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

Also by filling out this form, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

Bye bye.

Get A Life, Nicole! April 4, 2008

Posted by Nicole at April 4, 2008 12:13 PM | TrackBack

Hello all my lovelies! So I am not at all ashamed to admit that I occasionally become obsessed with certain bands. I truly believe we all do and it's completely and utterly healthy. (That doesn't at all sound as though I'm trying to justify anything, now does it?!) So anyway, some bands come and go, but there are a handful that always and will ALWAYS remain in Nicole's Top Five.

Here we go, kids! Get excited!! In no particular order we have:

5. Nightmare of You
4. Bright Eyes
3. Panic At The Disco
2. Taking Back Sunday
1. The Used

So because of my love for The Used (not to mention my love for Jepha's veg ways!), I'm in luck because the guys are currently out on the Get A Life Tour and are coming my way!! And two guesses as to who else is out on the tour. Okay people, it really shouldn't take two guesses considering it's been mentioned in a number of previous blogs this week! It's us !

So, like me, be sure to head out to a show! If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of me singing "Bulimic" at the top of my freakin' lungs, trying desperately to keep up with Bert! While you're there, make sure you stop by and say "hey" to Cody and the gang. And if you haven't already, sign our 'Fur Is Dead' petition, but of course.

To help you in your travels, I've conveniently attached the tour dates for the next week. You have no excuse not to get there. Now go!

Comment below and let me know your top five bands. One disclaimer: if your list doesn't include anyone from my top five, don't bother commenting. Haha! Just kidding!!

Bye bye.
