Much less the fact that any results that are gained will have no relevance to humans. Spiritually, animals are the same as humans - they feel pain, happiness, sadness, fear, etc.
Anatomically/biologically animals are completely different. Their bodies work in different ways than humans'. Any results from vivisection will never be reliable.

A government policy on animal testing states, along the lines, that animal experiments must only be conducted in cases than are relevant to human safety/existence. OK ... But ... in what way is chocolate vital to human existence? And what results exactly do these companies hope to find from these "experiments"?
The same goes for cosmetics testing ... in what way is makeup vital for human existence.
Its all very well having these things - confectionary, makeup, medications, etc - and it's all very well wanting to do things -

I am so outraged by MARS! Especially because they have lied to the public about their animal testing, or at least they didn't tell the whole truth.
I've done some research and apparently flavanols from cocoa have health benefits so MARS has been testing on animals to substanciate their "healthy chocolate" claim. And I think they are by law required to do testing on this since it's linked to pharmacutical benefits or something like that.
In any case, there is absolutely no need to get blood pressure or heart rates from these poor animals by drowning them and cutting open their legs!!! Hell, I'll go eat some chocolate and run around and have them take my blood pressure if they want!!
And for those of you in the area who would be interested I AM PLANNING A DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE MARS COMPANY!!! It will be April 26, so if anyone is interested hit up this discussion board and let me know!!! I'll check back with more details!

as soon as i found out about these murderous candy companies i havnt eaten any candy since then. infact now i dont eat any packaged things, i only eat the unprosessed stuff because you never know now. i dont even use any makeup anymore because i dont trust the bulk of the cruel bastards. its horrible. screw animal testing. someone suggested to get some people who get deathrow sentences and life sentences into proson and quite frankly i agree with them. even i would be a volunteer to be tested on instead of an innocent animal. i saw a video and a poor dog was drugged. it really made me want to cry. this is why im a vegetarian now and i will stay vegetarian (im even considering going vegan).

Yes, this is cruel! But so are the ingredients in this candy! So many of you leaving comments are lamenting the fact that you can't eat skittles or starburst. Did you know that they both use gelatin? Did you know that gelatin is made from the ground up bones of animals? What about the milk they use in the chocolate of their candy bars? It comes from cows who are abused and hooked up to machines for their whole lives just so we can drink something that isn't even good for us (animal protein leaches calcium from your bones, it doesn't make your bones strong like the milk industry wants us to believe). Do some research... go vegan!

Instead of testing animals that only ask for our love and nurturing, why not use prisoners that are on death row, those are the ones that deserve the torture because those prisoners do not have any regard for humanity.

im not a veggie but im careful only to eat "humanely" kept animals ...
i never plan to eat mars again and havent 4 about 6 mnths but just to clear some stuff off the monkey isnt put in the tube by mars thats footage frm a smoking company...smoke is pumped into the tube its awful aswell...the mouse in the paint is mars though as it starts off by pumping some of the ingredients they want to use in there bars in to the rats blood system (the needle often causes the heart to rupture and then the mouse is made to swim through paint to exhaust it and get the blood through its system as the heart beats faster and then they remove the rat from the paint and slit gashes into its legs..no anisthetic is used so as not to pollute the blood sream with any different chemicals.they then test the blood

I am doing a report on this company for a MBA class. This is not going to be a glowing report, I didn't realize what they were doing. This is what we call a "Threat" on a SWOT analysis. I will inform my listener's that maybe a boycott of their product will be in order, until they publicly announce an end to unethical R & D practices. I don't see any legitimate reasons for animal testing, especially were candy production is concerned. The company may feel they don't have to answere to anyone since they are privately owned, but they have miss judged their consumer's wants.
Mars sucks for doing this! I could kick myself because I use to like Skittles, but now I will never eat anything from Mars ever again. also, I am a vegetarian and everyone should be, but then noone would be, meat just wouldn't be considered food. WHAT DID THE CRITTERS DO TO YOU?!?!

I h8 u people, I've gotten over 100 sigantures to ban the mars candy bars products from my school, I advise you all to do the same for your schools, think of the animals. This is a serious problem, I will do every thing I can to get this in the news, Rob quirk (anchorman for news) is my neighbor, I will not hesitate to ask him about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not even In grade 7 yet and im already a vegetarian!! People ask me is it because you dont like meat..i say NO its because i dont like to see animals be violated or aboused!! My mom tells me to eat fish but i refuse and tell her.. thats like.. if i ever had to eat a person( for something i dont know why) then thats like saying you would eat the crippled person or the little person because there short or yousless.... I'm glad I've been awear of this bull shi* so early in my life. I'll be sure to make Mars pay for what they have done to all these poor helpless animals. I'll be sure to do everything in my power to stop this, and hope you do to. All the mice and rats and every other animal they hurt to make it 'seem' as if there doing anything in thier stupid factory!!! I've started a petition thats going around my school and I hope it will go around the country as well. I'm pressing you to start your own and send it it!!!

I am so outraged by MARS! Especially because they have lied to the public about their animal testing, or at least they didn't tell the whole truth.
I've done some research and apparently flavanols from cocoa have health benefits so MARS has been testing on animals to substanciate their "healthy chocolate" claim. And I think they are by law required to do testing on this since it's linked to pharmacutical benefits or something like that.
In any case, there is absolutely no need to get blood pressure or heart rates from these poor animals by drowning them and cutting open their legs!!! Hell, I'll go eat some chocolate and run around and have them take my blood pressure if they want!!
And for those of you in the area who would be interested I AM PLANNING A DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE MARS COMPANY!!! It will be April 26, so if anyone is interested hit up this discussion board and let me know!!! I'll check back with more details!

this is horrible...
as soon as i found out about these murderous candy companies i havnt eaten any candy since then. infact now i dont eat any packaged things, i only eat the unprosessed stuff because you never know now. i dont even use any makeup anymore because i dont trust the bulk of the cruel bastards. its horrible. screw animal testing. someone suggested to get some people who get deathrow sentences and life sentences into proson and quite frankly i agree with them. even i would be a volunteer to be tested on instead of an innocent animal. i saw a video and a poor dog was drugged. it really made me want to cry. this is why im a vegetarian now and i will stay vegetarian (im even considering going vegan).

Yes, this is cruel! But so are the ingredients in this candy! So many of you leaving comments are lamenting the fact that you can't eat skittles or starburst. Did you know that they both use gelatin? Did you know that gelatin is made from the ground up bones of animals? What about the milk they use in the chocolate of their candy bars? It comes from cows who are abused and hooked up to machines for their whole lives just so we can drink something that isn't even good for us (animal protein leaches calcium from your bones, it doesn't make your bones strong like the milk industry wants us to believe). Do some research... go vegan!

I have just read this and it is sooooo terrible! And Mars incorparation doesn't only make candy! They also make Whiskas, Pedigree and Chappy. These are pet foods that we may or may not be feeding to our pets. We could be feeding them things that could be terrible for them! I hope you take this into consideration.

Instead of testing animals that only ask for our love and nurturing, why not use prisoners that are on death row, those are the ones that deserve the torture because those prisoners do not have any regard for humanity.

i never plan to eat mars again and havent 4 about 6 mnths but just to clear some stuff off the monkey isnt put in the tube by mars thats footage frm a smoking company...smoke is pumped into the tube its awful aswell...the mouse in the paint is mars though as it starts off by pumping some of the ingredients they want to use in there bars in to the rats blood system (the needle often causes the heart to rupture and then the mouse is made to swim through paint to exhaust it and get the blood through its system as the heart beats faster and then they remove the rat from the paint and slit gashes into its legs..no anisthetic is used so as not to pollute the blood sream with any different chemicals.they then test the blood
this been accepted by society?
none of my friends are willing to give up there fav sweets except one!!!

i love candy but am outraged by what these companies are doing to animals!! is this all really nessasary?? animals have feelings. Animals feel pain. We must stop this cruel method of testing on animals! I have stopped eating mars bars and am trying to get my friends to stop as well. As a veggie and for an animal rights i have stopped using many itemes and boycott and many stores, but to test candy on animals is horrific! please stop buying mars bars and boycott mars bars.

Mars company are a load of disgusting mad scientist types who are getting their kicks by sadistic experiments on animals. these experiments, not only uneccessary, are indicative of the holocaust of suffering inflicted upon animals in laboratories all in the name of a sweetie for the kiddies. i for one have stopped my kids eating ANY product made by Mars and am actively seeking to encourage other families in my neighbourhood to do the same. just because i live in England does not mean i am impartial to American 'problems' like this candy issue - after all, Mars is a world-wide market. They only test on animals cause it cost a lot less than it would to test on humans cause they would have to pay them and also risk getting sewed. But with animals they are helpless and dont have a choice. Isnt america about freedom and choice? I think that has to do with animals too.

I am doing a report on this company for a MBA class. This is not going to be a glowing report, I didn't realize what they were doing. This is what we call a "Threat" on a SWOT analysis. I will inform my listener's that maybe a boycott of their product will be in order, until they publicly announce an end to unethical R & D practices. I don't see any legitimate reasons for animal testing, especially were candy production is concerned. The company may feel they don't have to answere to anyone since they are privately owned, but they have miss judged their consumer's wants.

I'm a vegetarian and I find animal testing so terrible that words can't explain how stupid I think these people are. For one thing, I have pet rats, and how could anyone do such a thing to them?
