Comments: Why We Euthanize, Part II (Warning: Graphic Photo)
Comments
I'm completely with peta on this. It's made me angry to see facebook groups and stuff saying that peta 'kill animals'. I 100% agree with euthanasia and think you guys give dignity to those animals to whom a painless and peaceful death is a relief they could never have hoped for otherwise.
I agree. Peta doesn't kill animals. They just let them pass peacefully. The people who are against this are just... heartless. Some animals, sadly, can't be saved, and some people are just too stupid to realize that. If you have no reason to euthanize an animal, yeah, I have a problem, but if the animal is going to live the rest of it's life suffering, then the best thing you can do is let it go without anymore suffering.
Neglectful humans,
pet overpopulation,
abusive owners...
but it's PETA's fault that animals must be euthanized...?
Most of the tilted truths regarding PETA's work is manufactured and spread by the Center for Consumer Freedoms...
how can one of the largest anti-animal/earth rights groups in the world dare criticize PETA?
I completely agree with euthanasia. I think that it should always be a last resort, first vetenary care should be taken and animals hopefully rehomes, but when it's better for the animal i agree that a painless death is the most humane option. I just wish that it was legal for humans with terminal diseases and no chance of recovery, who would otehrwise die a slow and painful death.
that picture makes my stomach turn. it gives me goosebumps. how someone could do something like that to an animal blows my mind. it makes me sick. people who do things like that to animals should have the same sort of thing happen to them as punishment. i think its stupid the most they do is stop them from being able to own animals or they might go to jail for a couple months. its complete bull.
D=
If a animal is close to death, and the only way out is with Euthanasia, let them.. Its a peaceful way out. We wouldn't want a human that is inches away from death, in pain and moaning for death to arrive sooner..
Im doing more for animals. I started a group called Revolution Evolution. We are trying to get the state to add a tax to new housing that takes land away from animals , causeing an upclimb of road kills. We believe that this tax money should be used to add fences in these areas that will detour animals from crossing roads that have a high kill rate. We are also handing out Free car whistlers that chase the deer back into the woods. THE MISTREATMENT of ANIMALS HAS GOT TO STOP!! Humans need to start careing about this world and the animals. Neither belong to us!!!
Sometimes even the hardest you try can't save an animal, or person. rather than letting them suffer, euthanasia is the quickest and painless way to have them free of the misery they are getting put through.
It just sickens me that in our society's day and age with all our Human Rights etc...we are still letting these beautiful animals die....who where here before us!!!!
Unbelievably sad. I would never have thought an animal could withstand such abuse and still be alive. I don't think as many people who criticize PETA's stand on euthanizing would disagree that animals in such condition should be put down. I think it's more that if they don't "see" it or know about it it's easier to pretend that they aren't doing the same when they kill cows, chickens etc for the sake of a hamburger.
Euthanasia is used in extreme cases by a lot of organizations. To those who believe that PETA is anti-euthanasia, study the picture of Big Girl, & then thank PETA for making the very difficult decision that most of us in the veterinarian & rescue world hate to make. Thank you PETA for your compassion & commitment to all animals.
in peta doing this, like many other things
we have to see things like the photos to understand
and it's horrible but it happens
some people are just oblivious, let them believe what they want
people can't not be allowed to have pets though cos it just won't happen
we just have to be more aware
and ready to own someone who hurts animals..
^ or just do something about it
thanks peta,
xx
PETA did the only humane thing for this dog, let her go to heaven at last and rest in peace. PETA does SO many things for animals, it's hard to believe there are still people out there hating on them. Thank you PETA, I'm sure Big Girl is in heaven loving life, finally.
How would this dog's owner feel if this happened to them? Would the still neglect animals so harshly? Would they still beat and starve them to near death? I HATE people who do this to animals
when i see something like this, it makes me mad that people who treat dogs like this are first allowed to have pets in the first place, and i cant help but think how the treat they're children.
People who treat animals like this do not have empathy and as far as i am concerned deserve no less than what they gave.
Thank you for posting this.
I agree that sometimes the best and most merciful thing you can do for an injured, sick or abused animal is to put them to rest and out of pain. If anyone thinks the decision comes lightly, they need to think again.
holy crap. That is terrible. That person should have gone to jail!!! i seriously agree with peta decisions here. my sister works at the regional shelter in georgetown texas and she has to put down dogs just because they dont have enough room for them.
OMG .. when i seen this picture i was terrified. It brought tears to my eyes. My friend next to me took one look and shook with fear and disgust. Some people are absolutly terrible to their animals ! That poor dog :(
that is so, so sad. people who think this is OK.. man karma will get you. euthanasia makes me very sad but then again what else are humans supposed to do?! there are simply not enough homes for the millions of homeless animals each year and it breaks my heart. all i will ask is please everyone, do NOT breed or buy while homeless animals die. support animal shelters, and adopt from a shelter, SPCA, or humane society. please help these animals.. they did NOTHING to deserve this.
so unfair.. what did the dog do to deserve that? nothing. makes me so mad and sad.. to anyone who is reading this.. please look up "in hope, an animal shelter story" on youtube. it's very sad but very eye opening. it shows the true reality of what happens to animals because of people breeding their animals and not having them fixed.
people are disguting. When you have a choice between letting an animal suffer and die a painful death or shorten its suffering by a method that is really close with a deep sleep... how can people even question the stop of suffering?
my dog was having epileptic seizures, was going blind and was obviously sick (common disease with daschunds) we had NO choice but to put him to sleep.
what kind of heartless being would favor torture in the name of life...
We should treat animals just like we treat humans. With respect and love.
You know-whenever an animal comes to PETA's attention-it's always due to horrific abuse. How sad people have personal agendas (such as the meat industry) and would care less about the suffering of these poor animals under the tyranny of humans who do not hesitate to torture animals.
The cruelty of humans never ceases to amaze me-and they do it KNOWING FULL WELL WHAT THEY DO. So who is calling who an animal?
Thank God there is PETA who fights cruelty. And yes-sometimes you have to euthanize-when pain and suffering is beyond anything repairable. What other choice does one have?
Can someone please explain to me why there are not harsher punishments for animal neglect and abuse?! What, this guy got a slap on the wrist and isn't allowed to own animals anymore?? Woop dee do, real harsh. You can abuse and neglect people and get harsh sentences so why is it not the same for animals?! They're living, breathing individuals also!
What the heck is peoples problems? Do they get a euphoric feeling or something by abusing an animal? In my opinion, abusing a dog like that, is so much worse than how people even abuse themselves. Humans need to realize that we only have one life to live, and we're wasting that time, hurting animals, and going to jail for doing so. Grow up. PETA only does what is right, and if you don't agree then don't come here. They're not forcing you to look at anything, or do anything. They're just asking you to care.
yea i agree with peta when it comes to euthenization i also like the note about the graphic image i was reading the article on this on the peta site and they didnt warn people about the graphics so people were like YOU NEED TO WARN PEOPLE ABOUT THAT blah blah blah its like if they warned people no one would look and read it and face the facts. Thats why i think anyone who chooses to eat meat at least needs to like wacth the videos and stuff of the slaughter houses thats why i normally give hunters more props then someone who just goes and buys dead carcasses pre pacakged in the store. Cause if they dont know what is going on or cant do it themselves then they shouldnt eat meat.
This was something that needed to be said. These animals are suffering and we can try to save them, but sometimes they're in too much pain and in far too bad a condition for us to do anything but euthanize them. The man that would treat not just 1, but 2 dogs like this deserves alot more punishment than what he got. Obviously, he doesn't care if he owns animals because when he does, he treats them like shit. There should be some serious jailtime for this kind of disgusting, disturbing animal abuse.
Sometimes it's just best for the animal. If it's never going to walk again and unable to simply reach food and water without tremendous pain, the animal, if they could speak would most likely tell you to just end it.
i think people that abuse animals should suffer the same pain that they inflicted on the animals they abused and that they then should be arrested and placed in prison for life without the possibility of parole or be sentenced to death if they took the life of an animal!
I agree with putting dogs down if there is no chance of them liveing life with out pain and suffering.
The only thing i dont agree with it putting dogs down if they were ment to fight. They still have a chance. But, there life is made to avoid dogs. The only time they should be put down is if they cant controll themselfs and they are physicly in pain.
I don't agree with Peta on much, but when it comes to euthanasia, I don't think there's much to say. Its a necessary action.
