peta2 Nugget chickens Street Team McDonald's McCruelty
Here's the latest way for you to take action against McCruelty!
Step 1. Print out this cute Nugget and letter to McDonald's.

Step 2. Since chickens can't speak in their own defense (at least not in a way we can understand), write your own message in the speech bubble for them! Some suggestions include, "I Am Not A Nugget," "McCruelty Sucks," and "Help Me!" But be as creative (just keep it polite!) as you'd like!
Step 3. Sign your name to the bottom of this letter!
Step 4. Take a picture of you with Nugget speaking up for animals and e-mail it to us at StreetTeam@peta2.com to get 2,500 Street Team points!
Step 5. Mail your Nugget and letter to McDonald's! The address is on the file you printed out!
We'll feature some of our favorite photos on upcoming blogs, too, so make sure you send those in as soon as possible!
Free Stuff Friday: 'Not a Nugget' Jewelry! October 30, 2009
Posted by Tiffany Wright at October 30, 2009 9:10 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 170 ) | TrackBackBoy, are you in for a treat! This week you have the chance to win some amazing jewelry pieces from Christy Robinson. Christy Robinson creates one of a kind, earth and animal-friendly jewelry. And, because we know how much you love the peta2 nugget (I mean, what's not to love? Is he not the cutest thing ever?!), we're giving away these two pieces from her collection:
The chick and heart pendant is made of Earth-friendly recycled aluminum, so it's super lightweight. The ring (size 6) is made of recycled copper and aluminum. And guess what! The top of the ring SPINS! Um yea ... it doesn't get much cooler than that. Since we have two necklaces and two rings to give away, your chances of winning are pretty damn good.
You're all familiar with our McCruelty campaign right? Pretend you're talking to the CEO of McDonald's and comment below with what you'd say to convince him to adopt a more humane method of slaughter. The four people with the most convincing comments will be chosen as our winners and notified on November 9. Two will receive the 'Not a Nugget' necklace and two will receive the 'Not a Nugget' ring.

Street Team McDonald's McCruelty
Today is World Anti-McCruelty Day, and we need your help! Please politely call McDonald's at (630) 623-3000 and tell them to listen to PETA and adopt a less cruel form of slaughter.
You'll get 1,000 Street Team points for e-mailing us at StreetTeam@peta2.com to let us know what time you called and what the response was to your phone call!

If you need any more information about why we're specifically asking McDonald's to take these steps, check this out. The basic idea is that as the biggest seller of chicken meat in the U.S., McDonald's has the responsibility and the ability to reduce suffering by demanding that its suppliers use a less cruel method of slaughter. Pretty simple, right?
Really, what kind of company would allow suppliers to break birds' wings and legs and scald animals to death? Imagine if we were talking about the dogs and cats in our homes (who suffer and feel pain just the same as the chickens slaughtered for McDonald's), and I'm sure you can see how crazy it is that there aren't better standards for a corporation as huge as McDonald's. You should ask why they refuse to make these demands! Call them at (630) 623-3000.
Stuck on what to say? The following are some ideas to get you started:
- I refuse to spend money at McDonald's until your company demands that its chicken suppliers adopt controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK).
- Please stop supporting practices that allow chickens to suffer broken limbs, endure abuse by workers, have their throats cut while they are still conscious, and be scalded to death.
- I just watched the video on McCruelty.com, and I was shocked to learn that McDonald's is refusing to ask its suppliers to switch to a less cruel slaughter method even though it wouldn't cost your company any money to do so.
peta2 Brings Veganism to Tech N9ne & Penn State October 8, 2009
Posted by Rachel-O at October 8, 2009 10:02 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBackWhat's up guys and gals? We've a solid week of touring here at peta2—check out what we've been up to!
Traveling through the mid-west with Tech N9ne has been a blast! There is a lot of support out here for people that care deeply about animals. Rob is working his magic and spreading the word about the chickens that are suffering for McDonald's.

One of the best things about being on tour with peta2—besides saving the lives of millions of animals—is definitely the food! We're lucky enough to hit up amazing vegan food all over the U.S. of A!

West-ward we go!
Hey kids! It's Joey from the college crew to tell you about an exciting event that happened this past Tuesday night! Bruce Friedrich—the Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs at Peta—came to Penn State University to have an open forum with their students and facility. We had originally requested a debate between Friedrich and a member of PSU's Dairy and Agricultural Department but after months and months of us calling and sending emails, they never responded! During the two days before the event, we stormed the campus with our friend the chicken, leafleting and talking to people about the event.

I'm gonna jet guys! Thanks for reading and see ya next week ...

McDonald's McCruelty Ronald McDonald tofu pie
McDonald's was trying to play up its image and target kids with some nonsense so some activists decided to teach "Ronald McDonald" a lesson. Let's follow the action.

I'm sure McDonald's is less than amused by having "Ronald" get a tofu pie to the face in public, but you won't see me shedding any tears for a company that refuses to take simple steps to reduce the cruelty chickens face at the hands of suppliers and slaughterhouses.
"Ronald McDonald's" Shocking New Video: Funny or Die? August 24, 2009
Posted by Patricia at August 24, 2009 9:02 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBackAn outrageous new PETA video featuring a demented Ronald McDonald being grilled by famed (and former SNL regular) celebrity interviewer Jiminy Glick (Martin Short) debuted on Will Ferrell's FunnyOrDie.com today.
The video, which stars a "fried" Ronald McDonald (Andy Dick) chatting with Jiminy Glick about the company's slaughter practices, is PETA's first FunnyOrDie exclusive!
I love this twisted video so much, I can't stand it. I had to watch it several times because I was laughing too loudly to hear what they were saying. So after you've watched it several times too just go ahead and vote "Funny" (I know you will; it's hiliarious), then brace yourself and go ahead and watch the bonus feature.

Now let McDonald's hear from you! Sign our petition demanding better treatment for the chickens raised and killed by the company's suppliers. And while you're at it, join our "Not eating McDonald's" fan page.
Free Stuff Friday: Unhappy Meals! August 20, 2009
Posted by Tiffany Wright at August 20, 2009 4:32 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 358 ) | TrackBack We all know the torture McDonald's chickens have to face. Every day, chickens at McDonald's main supply houses have their throats slit and many are thrown into tanks of scalding water while they're still conscious just so people can get their chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets. That doesn't sound like a happy meal to me.
McDonald's has yet to adopt a more humane method of slaughter, so we want you to join us in giving McDonald's a big "F*CK YOU!" with our brand new Unhappy Meals. To see what comes in each Unhappy Meal, watch the video below, featuring our very own Pulin.
For your chance to get your hands on one of our Unhappy Meals, comment below with why YOU deserve to win. Entries must be received by August 28. The five people with the most original comments will be chosen as our winners and notified by August 31.

Breaking Hearts and Taking Names July 2, 2009
Posted by Marta at July 2, 2009 10:59 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBackHey buddies!
Warped Tour has officially started and so has our Animal Testing Breaks Hearts campaign! To start this off right, part of the peta2 Road Crew has been plowing through cities telling people how animal testing is a true heartbreaker and to sign our petition to help end these pointless acts of brutality. We're asking cosmetics companies to stop doing cruel, painful and pointless tests on bunnies, rats, and other animals in labs nationwide. We've been hitting the crowds hard to let them know about all the great companies that are kind enough not to torture animals for no reason other than selfish profit. For a whole list of companies that refuse to do tests on animals, check this out!

During the show in Ventura, CA, we took the bunny out into the crowd during 3OH!3's set. The crowd had a great time dancing with the bunny, signing the petition, and hearing great music. It was a win-win for everyone! Stay tuned for more from us on this year's Warped Tour. I'm going to let Paige take it from here to give you some updates on what she's been up to recently ...

Thanks, Joey! We also kicked off Rock the Bells in Chicago and Detroit. This Hip Hop crowd jumped right on board with speaking out against McDonald's cruel practices. Chickens are slaughtered by McDonald's suppliers using outdated methods like slitting their throats while fully conscious. Now the biggest seller of chicken meat in the U.S., McDonald's has the responsibility—and the ability—to reduce this abuse by demanding that its U.S. suppliers use a less cruel method of slaughter.

Featured in our pictures are our AMAZING volunteers, Peter and Ian, that we met doing College Outreach on their campus! Want to make changes at your school? Or do you want to become an intern? There are so many ways to help animals—find some here.
That's all for now from the Road Warriors. Check back in next week for more updates and more tour pics!
