Girls (NO FUR) Aloud March 6, 2008

The Girls Aloud singer, the gorgeous Sarah Harding, has made her thoughts on fur very plain indeed! "F*** Fur," she exclaimed (we wholeheartedly agree, Sarah!) when she spotted the ugly offending article in London store, "Arrogant Cat" yesterday. "I don't want to be seen wearing that. It's disgusting to wear fur and shouldn't be allowed to be sold in stores," she went on.

Sarah obviously has her head screwed on and is aware unlike some airhead celebrities, that there is no kind way to rip the skin of an animal's back. Fur farming is banned in the UK because of the inherent cruelty involved with the farming and killing of animals for their fur. Every year the fur industry traps, drowns, clubs, gasses, and electrocutes millions of animals, all in the name of greed and vanity. Thank goodness they have people like Sarah looking out for them!

Arrogant Cat needs to take a leaf from Topshop's book and introduce a permanent "no fur" policy.

We love you, Sarah! Here's a big thanks from one arrogant cat who still has his fur!

Thanks, Sarah!!

TOPSHOP LOVES PETA UK February 22, 2008

Today's blog features guest blogger, peta2 UK's Violet...

PETA UK seem to be taking over the high street recently! Topshop have just this morning unveiled their latest animal friendly window display in their flagship store in Oxford Circus, London's busiest shopping street! The window gives a clear message on their stance on exotic skins and reads, "Exotic skins make our blood run cold. Join Topshop and leave wildlife out of your wardrobe."

So what's all the fuss about exotic skins?? Well, every year millions of snakes, lizards, alligators, and crocodiles are killed for so-called fashion. Farmed alligators are kept in tiny structures that reek of rancid meat, alligator waste and stagnant water. They are sometimes beaten to death with hammers. Snakes are often skinned alive, and larger animals like pythons have hoses inserted into their mouths to force vast amounts of water into their bodies, which loosens their skin and makes skinning easier. Their peeled, writhing bodies are then discarded, and they die slowly.

Topshop, we salute you! I for one will be there on Saturday spending my 100 pound gift voucher that my (imaginative) boyfriend got me for Christmas. Thanks Alan!

Happy Shopping!

Ingrid Newkirk to K-Fed: "Don't Forget About the Dogs!" October 5, 2007

Here's a sentence I never thought I'd write...yesterday PETA president Ingrid Newkirk sent a letter to Kevin Federline on behalf of the dogs Britney Spears has collected over the years.

I'm sure you've all seen the numerous shots of Britney carting her latest "purchase", London, around with her as if he were a living handbag. Since it appears she hasn't been taking very good care of her children (or herself based on...well, her appearance, her car accidents, numerous compromising photos, oh, there's just too much to mention), and since the LA chapter of the SPCA has already investigated her for failing to provide veterinary care for London after he was stepped on and suffered a broken leg, we think it's in his best interest to get the heck out of there too. And since the court feels Kevin's better suited to care for their children, we've asked he pursue custody of the animals as well.

No word yet from K-Fed but we're really hoping he decides to rescue them cause I can't imagine what life is like for them at Britney's house. I wouldn't even want to hazard a guess as to what's going on over there.

xox

The Reformation of Moss? September 5, 2007

Moss%201.jpg
Today's blog features guest blogger, peta2 UK's Violet.

In this time that we live you can't open any magazine or newspaper without Kate Moss's troubled love life splashed all over the pages (she can't even sneeze without being papped these days) and while that's something that isn't going to change anytime soon, her attitude towards animals (with any luck) just might! Because, though Moss's past choice in men leaves much to be desired, she's started seeing lovely Jamie Hince from London band The Kills who just happens to be a vegan!!! According to The Sun, Hince and Moss were spotted canoodling in a pub in Notting Hill on Saturday. London duo, The Kills (including the unbelievably beautiful Alison Mosshart) are both vegan and proud of it, and we're hoping that his animal friendly demeanour might rub off on Kate.

It's pretty well known that Moss must have about 2,000 dead animals worth of fur coats in her wardrobe so here's hoping that Jamie will have a positive influence on Ms. Moss and try to educate her on how there is no kind way to rip the skin off an animal's back...Have a heart, Kate, and ditch those nasty pelts for good! We're rooting for the new you...

P.S. Despite Jamie's good looks and charm, I'm not holding my breath!
