Lettuce Ladies Tour the Fattest Cities in U.S. June 25, 2009

You may have heard that Men's Fitness magazine released their annual list of the fattest cities in America, and sadly for me, my hometown of San Jose, CA, made the list. Totes inappropes!

Luckily, PETA's own lettuce ladies are traveling around the fattest cities to help people lose some weight! Check out some photos from the veggie dog giveaway in San Jose yesterday:

Why are they giving away veggie dogs in the fattest cities? Meat consumption has been directly linked to obesity, but vegans are, on average, 10 to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters. And veggie dogs are seriously so much tastier than hot dogs, if people in San Jose are any indication. They devoured more than 400 veggie dogs!

Would you like the lettuce ladies to stop by your city?

Marta

Firefighters <3 Lettuce Ladies September 9, 2008

Okay, in all fairness, who doesn't love a Lettuce Lady? They go anywhere and everywhere to encourage people to "GO VEG!"

Check out two of our lovely Lettuce Ladies below—they stopped by a fire station in Ossining, NY, recently to pass out some delicious vegetarian sandwiches and pose for some pictures with the firefighters.

Word has it that the firefighters really enjoyed the sandwiches—and of course the Lettuce Ladies were gracious enough to leave them with some vegetarian starter kits, too.

Showing how delicious and fun it is to be vegetarian is a great way to get people to give vegetarianism a try. These ladies are committed enough to sport lettuce to spread a positive message, and I give them major props.

Where else do you think PETA's Lettuce Ladies should pass out vegetarian sandwiches?

Marta
