Mates of State Want Re-Arranged! May 30, 2008

The husband-wife duo of Mates of State released their fifth album, Re-Arrange Us, last week on Barsuk Records. People here in the peta2 office are lovin' every minute of the new disc and you are strongly encouraged to check it out for yourselves!

But before you do that, we want you to check out the group's oh-so-naked peta2 anti-fur ad. Kori and Jason declare, "We'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur". We would too, guys!

Such a pretty, pretty ad, don't you agree?

Free Stuff Friday: Anti-Fur Pins March 14, 2008

You all know about the Fur Is Dead campaign by now. But what you might not know is that we're giving out free anti-fur buttons to people who sign our 100,000 Strong Against Fur petition at shows. Check our MySpace page for a list of all the places we'll be in the next few months and stop by to say hello!

We realize not everyone reading this will be at the shows, but we still wanted to give you a chance to get a free pin to show your support for campaigns against anyone killing seals, foxes, mink, and other animals for their fur. Basically, all you have to do is comment to tell us what you'd rather do than wear fur. (If you're familiar with our "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign, this will make even more sense.). It can be something you already like doing or something you absolutely hate but would still rather do than wear the skin of a dead animal.

Some examples would be:
I'd rather practice solving algebra problems than wear fur. -Rachel
I'd rather ride a unicycle than wear fur. -Ryan
I'd rather have a bird poop on my head than wear fur. -Marta

We'll pick the 10 best comments and send each person a free anti-fur pin! That's a lot of winners. So get creative and comment away!

peta2 + SG + Valentine's Day = 45 Anti-Fur Ads! February 14, 2008

I cannot begin to tell you guys just how excited I am for this day to finally be here. Since the fall, I've been working on what is quite possibly the biggest campaign ever to hit peta2. I approached the SG about their interest in teaming up with peta2 for an anti-fur ad and the response from the girls was amazing. So many of the girls, from all corners of the world, wanted to get involved to help make everyone well aware that killing animals for their fur is reprehensible, outdated, and utterly unnecessary.

The madness all began in October when 14 SG made their way to LA for a huge photo shoot (Luckily for you, we had the day documented, so head over to our MySpace page to watch the video!). And for those that couldn't make the shoot, they submitted pictures for the campaign from all corners of the globe.



After months of hard work from so many, including our wonderful production dept. (Thanks, Matt and Cholly!) and SG co-founder, Missy Suicide, who says, "I'm very anti-fur...I think that it's just a crime to kill an innocent animal so that you can wear a pelt on your back!" the launch is finally here!

Tonight we'll be unveiling many of the "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" and "Ink, Not Mink" ads at The Roxy in LA. I can't think of a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than by everyone getting together and showing their undying love for animals...AWWW!

We'll be launching the new ads for you all to see each and every weekday on our MySpace page, so you'll want to make sure you check back daily to see the new ads. Each day you'll also get to read special guest blogs from the girls, talking about why they wanted to get involved in the campaign. Head over now and you'll be able to see and hear from Missy, Rigel, Fractal, Taye, and Bettina.
