Hayden Panettiere is at it again...defending animals that is. The spunky starlet, who you may remember tried to disrupt the annual Japanese dolphin slaughter a few years back, recently halted production on the Heroes set when some birds were blasted out of a tree by a gigantic leaf blower.
Hayden was reportedly furious and shouted at the crew member saying, "What are you doing? How would you like someone to blow that thing inside your house?" Indeed! Imagine you're just sitting around at home and all of a sudden you're hit with a huge hurricanesque gust of wind from some scary gigantic cannon-like thing that flings you out of your house. Awful.
Sources report that after Hayden spoke up filming of that scene was relocated. Well done, Hayden! Thank goodness she's not afraid to speak her mind, and you shouldn't be either. Any time you witness someone mistreating an animal in any way—speak up! If you're too nervous to actually speak to the person, you can always hand them a leaflet, but remember, do something, otherwise things will never change.

You may remember a few months back I told y'all about Hayden Panettiere's passionate crusade to save the whales. Well, the Heroes star is taking on the Japanese fishermen once again, only this time it's to save dolphins, and it's in person. Man, I love her.
Hayden and five other surfers tried to disrupt the annual Japanese dolphin slaughter, in which more than 22,000 of the gentle animals are killed yearly. The brave six paddled out on their boards to try to reach a pod of dolphins before they were forced into a cove to be killed but were blocked by the fishermen who even tried to whack them with a boathook.
After heading back to the beach, the surfers gave a brief interview before quickly heading to the Osaka airport. "It was really frightening," Hayden told reporters. "Some of us were hit by the boathook. But in the end all we really worried about was the dolphins."
"It was so incredibly sad. We were so close to them and they were sky hopping, jumping out of the water to see us." It gets worse. At this point she tried to hold back the tears and added, "One little baby dolphin stuck his head out and kinda looked at me and the thought that it's no longer with us is really hard to take." How could you kill a dolphin???!!! Let alone a baby dolphin...they are heartless monsters if you ask me.
Most of the time you're lucky if you can find someone who'll take five seconds to sign a petition, but Hayden flew across the world, paddled out into the sea, and took on a mob of angry fishermen...she's awesome. This hero is the real deal. Check her out in action.

Season two of Heroes started this week and I've got two words for you...Milo Ventimiglia. I so loved him as Jess on Gilmore Girls and as Chris on American Dreams (man, was I bummed when that was cancelled). He was so dark and brooding and bad on both of those shows, leading good girls Rory and Meg astray. I tend to like those types myself.
He looks mighty good in Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" video too (again with the dark and brooding)...Oh, Milo. Sigh. Wait, what was I talking about? Oh, Heroes, right, anyway, I was glued to the TV as I'm guessing many of you were as well but just in case you're downloading the episode later I won't give anything away.
Instead, let's talk about the recent interview Milo did with Men's Fitness magazine in which he talks about getting in shape and being a lifelong vegetarian, among other things.
He also mentions a date he had with an acquaintance who became "increasingly uncomfortable" as she learned more about him throughout the evening prompting her to say, "So you're polite, you don't drink, you don't smoke, you're a vegetarian, you keep yourself fit, and you're successful. What's wrong with you?" Um, nothing.
