Free Stuff Friday: Yummy Popcorn! August 8, 2008
Posted by Pulin Modi at August 8, 2008 9:09 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 341 ) | TrackBackThe contest details are at the bottom, and I swear this isn't that microwaveable crap—this is quality stuff.
What's better than a Street Teamer like Jason Levy getting out there to help animals by getting KFC banned from campus and interning with peta2? How about if his mom is all about animal rights, too?! Yea that's right. Jason's mom, Karen, has been vegan for over three years as a result of her son's involvement with peta2.
Mrs. Levy has always been supportive of Jason's veganism and has been know to attend KFC protests which he organizes. Pretty cool, huh?
We know many of your moms are supportive and appreciate all that you do for animals, so we just wanted to highlight one example.

Now for the part about FREE STUFF!
Jason and his mom run a place called Long Grove Popcorn Shoppe. Imagine a place filled with vegan popcorn goodness!
We want to give you a bunch of it. All you have to do to enter to win a two gallon tin of popcorn is to comment below with what flavor (or flavors) you'd want to win! The choices include: apple, caramel, chocolate, banana, and butter. And yes, they are all vegan.
FYI, this contest ends August 22, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified by August 29, 2008.
Just so you know, by commenting here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy. Also by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
Good luck! Now comment and try to get yourself some popcorn!

Dissection Free Stuff woof
Whenever anyone asks me when I started to get involved in animal rights, I tell them that I started before I even knew what it meant. I'm lucky enough to have a mom who explained to me why not to catch lightning bugs in jars, and to re-release frogs who I'd so naively caught in my backyard. She even explained to me why I shouldn't dissect animals, before I even reached middle school!
Now, I'm 22 and when I think back, I can't seem to picture being anywhere else but working at peta2—and it's in large part because of the compassion that my parents, and my dog Token, taught me.
I spend every day replying to comments from you guys! A ton of comments that I reply to are about Street Teamers who just can't seem to make their parents understand why they don't want to chop up dead animals in class, or why they don't want to eat gross, rotting corpses for dinner, so it's always great to hear from one great big (animal loving) happy family like mine—although we hope there are many more!
A few days ago, we got a visit from two Street Teamers, Joseph and Matt—with their mom, dad, and little sister! The Dawson family came all the way from Delaware, just to visit PETA. Their whole family was just about the cutest thing ever, and I couldn't help but snap a pic (or two).
Check them out hanging out in our literature room (yep, home of all of those amazing free stickers and leaflets!).

Matt Dawson (in the blue) is starting high school this fall and wants to spend his four years there doing everything he can to help animals, starting with getting everyone he knows to boycott KFC. He's super excited to read this, so comment below with your advice for him! What have you done for animals at your school, and what are your goals for this year? (Hint: if you don't know, check out our Take Charge page and get started!).
Stay Loud!

win free Mars Animal Testing candy Valentine's Day TGIF Free Stuff
TGIF my friends! I have a super sweet giveaway today . . .
Hopefully by now you have all told Mars Inc. to drop deadly animal tests. If not, then get to it! Everyone deserves a sweet Valentine's Day, especially the poor animals that are forced to undergo Mars' cruel tests.
Check out the new web banner we made for Mars and Valentine's Day and put it on your page:

Now, what to do about Valentine's Day treats? Snickers, Twix, Mars Bars, M&Ms, Skittles, and Starburst are all OUT (because they are made by Mars), so what should you get your human honey? Well, a lot of companies have pledged not to fund or conduct experiments on animals (like Hershey's). Look here for a list of vegan candy. Yum!

Looking for something a little more . . .free? I have you covered. We've teamed up with Pangea to give you an AMAZING gift-basket filled with cruelty-free vegan treats!
Looks delicious! I want my Valentine to give me one of these (hint hint).
What do you have to do to win, you ask? Comment below with how you are going to celebrate your V-day cruelty-free! And get going, this contest ends in exactly one week (February 15, 2008) and winners will be chosen and notified by February 22, 2008.
