The Ronson Family Values February 8, 2008
Posted by Patricia at February 8, 2008 9:51 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBackToday's blog features guest blogger, peta2 UK's Violet...
Mr. and Mrs. Ronson must have been downing the rock 'n' roll smoothies when they started family planning because those guys are riddled with twinkly star making genes! Mark, Charlotte, and Samantha Ronson are the new Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal (at least they would be if Jake and Maggie had another famous sister), which is good news for our furry friends because fashion designer Charlotte is anti fur. "I don't support cruelty to animals; anyway, faux fur can be just as chic," Charlotte says.
At Charlotte's latest New York fashion show they were giving out the cutest heart shaped anti-fur buttons and guess who was in support of the campaign sporting the rather fetching pin? Charlotte's producer extraordinaire (and devilishly handsome) brother, Mark!
Mark's also in our good books for looking after Amy Winehouse in the UK recently.
Who wouldn't want to be a Ronson? I mean my brother's quite good, but he's no Mark Ronson! All we can say is keep up the good work Ronson family!
peta2's other favourite famous siblings include:
Ben and Casey Affleck
Summer and Joaquin Phoenix
Kelly and Jack Osbourne
Liam and Noel Gallagher
The Cheeky Girls
Making lists is good fun.

fur fashion Street Team Donna Karan DKNY furisdead
We'll keep this simple. Donna Karan, the chief designer behind the DKNY brand, is selling fur despite her promises to stop using it. I don't like the fur industry. I don't like people who break promises. Put that together, and I'm pretty irritated. I bet you would be, too.
Please contact Donna Karan and tell her to stop selling fur! And you can also give her office a call at 212-789-1839.
Get to it. We thank you, and of course, the animals appreciate you speaking up for them.

fur cruelty-free fashion leather wool
A while back I asked all you stylish ladies and gents to send us photos of you in your favorite cruelty-free outfits—you know, outfits free of fur, leather, and wool. I mean, why wear an animal when you can wear something cute that didn't cause an animal to suffer and die?
I don't know about you, but it makes me shudder to think about wearing someone else's skin/fur. If someone were to tell you, 'Here is a coat I made for you out of human back hair' you'd probably scream, run the other direction, and maybe even throw up in your mouth a little, right? But people who wear animal skins are wearing the skin and hair off an animal's back—an animal who doesn't speak human and can't tell us it hurts to be drowned, gassed, and anally electrocuted (though I think it's obvious to most of us that any of those things would hurt anyone, be it a human, a fox, or a raccoon).
And don't even get me started on leather—the fact that people wear cow skin that has to be chemically treated to keep from rotting is just plain nasty. Say it with me now: Chemically-treated cow skin is not fashionable.
Anyway, now that I've gone off on my tangent, I'll leave you lovelies to decide which outfit below is your favorite, so comment away!
Will it be Twigg's fur-free fashion sense?

Or Michael's casual and comfy cruelty-free clothing?

Or Donna's dazzling death-free dress (and yes, her shoes are pleather!)?
And vote wisely, cause the person who has the photo with the highest number of votes will win a $50 gift certificate from Alternative Outfitters!

Calling All Fashionable Guys and Girls! August 31, 2007
Posted by Marta at August 31, 2007 1:31 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBackWith school starting back up and Fall just around the corner, you've probably already blown a lot of the money you saved up from dealing with screaming kids at camp on some sweet new clothes, right? If so, that's good news for us!
We want to see you in your most stylish, cruelty-free outfits! What does that mean? Send us pictures of you in your most fashionable outfits free of fur, leather, and wool. With so many options out there these days that don't require an animal to suffer for clothing, there's no reason to support an industry that profits off of animals' skins.
We'll feature the best submissions here in the peta2 blog and have you vote for your favorite! Need a little inspiration? Check out Lara in her cruelty-free shot below and then send your most stylin' picture to StreetTeam@peta2.com. And here's the best part: The person who submits the photo with the highest number of votes will win a $50 gift certificate from Alternative Outfitters!
Go bust out your clothes and get photo-happy!
♥ Marta
PS - Just so you know, by sending us your photos, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our terms of submission and terms and conditions. Thanks, lovelies!
