Vegan Free Stuff Friday Xbox360 Fable II
If you're a serious gamer who hasn't been living under a large, computer-generated rock for the past year or so, you were anticipating the October release of Peter Molyneux' Fable II just as eagerly as I was. The original Fable set the gold standard for the action-RPG genre, and the sequel promised to make that standard, um, even gold-er. Enter to win your copy below!
The shtick of the Fable series is that pretty much every decision you make in the game brings you further down a path of good, or evil, which affects everything from how your character looks to the powers and abilities at your disposal. Go around killing townspeople indiscriminately? Evil. Help the local guardsmen track down warrants for missing criminals? Good. And so on.
The cool part is, this time around Albion, feeding your character meat earns you BIG evil points, and if you play through the whole game as an unrepentant carnivore, your character ends up looking like a reject from a GWAR video in no time:

In fact, check out this description of a food item, "Dairy Farm Cheese", which you can pick up from a vendor in Bowerstone Market, the main city location in the game: "Nobody knows where the animals whose milk is used to make this cheese are kept. And as long as there's a steady supply to melt on toast or eat with a nice glass of wine, nobody cares." Just like in real life!
Is Lionhead, the company who made the game, run by vegans? Who knows. All I do know is that it's pretty effing amazing to see a game getting serious game-of-the-year buzz with such a strong animal rights message. And that it is taking FOREVER to max out my Skill score. Seriously.
Anyway, comment on this blog and tell me what's in your 360 (or Wii or PS3 or whatever) right now to enter to win a copy of Fable II!
This contest ends November 28, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified the same day!
