PETA Wants A-Rod Off All Drugs February 10, 2009

Posted by Ryan at February 10, 2009 5:08 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

Right on the heels of Michael Phelps admitting his "regrettable behavior" (Where did this bong come from? I better check to make sure it's not broken...), now here comes Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez, coming clean about his use of performance-enhancing drugs in 2003.

Now again, it's not peta2's job to judge what "A-Roid" does to his body (although anyone who's ever been through Health class knows that the side effects of steroids aren't too generous to us dudes). It is peta2's job, however, to remind Mr. Rodriguez that going drug-free doesn't just mean clearing the pills out of the medicine cabinet, but also taking those dead animals out of the fridge.

Animals on factory farms aren't given the choice whether or not to be pumped full of growth-promoting drugs, in an effort to make them grow fatter faster and to ward off the diseases that are rampant in the cramped, filthy conditions. Awful for animals? Of course. Horrible for humans eating those animals? You bet.

So do you really wanna get a fresh start, Alex? If so, why not start by ditching the meat?

We Own the Night starts tonight and I'm so excited! Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, and Eva Mendes all in the same movie together, that just may be too much hotness to handle.

This movie looks crazy good—Russian hit men vs. NYC cops, secrets, sex, drugs, gun fights, my fave vegan actor—and I for one have been counting the days.

Oh, Joaquin, how do you find the time to crank out all of these great films, attend press junkets and premieres around the globe, and still do so much to help animals? Like the letter he sent to Australia's Agriculture Minister about the cruel ways sheep are treated by the Australian wool industry for instance.

He's one man who definitely deserves success...and I'm not just saying that because he's adorable. I swear. Go see We Own the Night, it's guaranteed to be action-packed and filled with hotness.

xox

P.S. If anyone else plans on seeing the movie tonight, let me know by leaving a comment.
