Cutest Veg Finalist Katya Made Something for You May 12, 2009
Posted by Marta at May 12, 2009 1:57 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBackBy now, most of you are probably well-aware that our Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest is going strong. We have 32 finalists to make you smile from ear-to-ear—seriously, they are that cute. And I'm not just talking on the outside—their cuteness really shines through because of their passion to help animals!
Take Katya, one of our female finalists, for example. She made a slideshow/video that she wanted me to share with all of you. It's hard to hear in one part, but her three friends are saying that they went vegetarian because of Katya. How awesome is that? Just click on her photo below to watch it for yourself.

Read all about Katya and our other finalists here, then be sure to vote for your favorites!
Have you convinced any of your friends to go vegetarian?
Are You the Cutest Vegetarian Alive? April 20, 2009
Posted by Marta at April 20, 2009 4:05 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 12 ) | TrackBackYup, it's that time again—we're looking for the vegetarians out there that are the cutest inside and out. We're trying to find the people that use their adorable personalities and utter cuteness to help animals. Is that you? Then you better get to entering our fourth annual Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest!
Check out what Kelly Anderson, one of our 2008 winners (that's her to the right!), had to say to me about her run as Cutest Vegetarian Alive:
What did it feel like to win our Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest?
I'm not going to lie; it felt pretty amazing to win the contest. I was not expecting it in the least bit, whatsoever. The entire day of the final round, I was telling all my friends how I was completely happy with runner-up. When I got the phone call, I almost thought it was a joke!
What do you think the best part is of being Cutest Vegetarian Alive?
The best part was definitely the connections I made through it. I was almost immediately submerged into the local animal rights scene. I can honestly say winning this contest entirely shaped who I am now ... an extremely active animal rights activist. Plus, not to mention getting to work with PETA and peta2 whenever they came in town was totally awesome!
Are you sad to pass on your crown to a new winner this year?
Of course I'm not sad! I can't wait for someone else to hopefully share the same experience.
Thanks, Kelly!
So what are you waiting for? Enter now!
Why Are Pigs Dancing at Warped Tour? June 26, 2008
Posted by Marta at June 26, 2008 9:31 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 0 ) | TrackBackThis week in the lives of road warriors we kicked off Warped Tour in California, spreading the word about pigs being abused in factory farms.
You may remember that Alida from 1997 is beginning to blog her experiences being vegetarian on the road for peta2. Well, we were lucky enough to have the band play an acoustic set in OUR TENT. Um...hell yea!

Even the pigs were rocking out.

We also had some AMAZING Street Teamers come out and help save some animals—like Leonard, voted Cutest Vegetarian Alive, and Tyler.

Make sure you come say hi to us at one of the other Vans Warped Tour dates. Did you win your tickets yet?
Stay Brutal,
Paige
Free Stuff Friday: 'Friend, Not Food' Tee May 16, 2008
Posted by Marta at May 16, 2008 10:21 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 1383 ) | TrackBackOne of my favorite slogans that we use here at peta2 is "(insert animal here) are friends, not food." It's just so cute and catchy. So you can imagine how unbelievably excited I was when I found out that vegetarian snowboarder and artist TJ Schneider designed a 'Friend, Not Food' tee exclusively for peta2.
Check out peta2's Cutest Vegetarian Alive winners, Kelly Anderson and Leonard Sun, modeling the tee:

And we wanted to spread the love, of course, so we're giving two of you lucky readers the chance to score one of these adorable shirts. All you have to do to win is comment with your shirt size and why you think that animals are friends, not food. I think that animals are friends, not food because I love to hug all animals (cats, chickens, and crazy humans alike)—and I certainly wouldn't spend my time hugging potatoes and parsnips.
This contest ends June 6, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified by June 13, 2008.
Just so you know...by commenting here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

PS - I'm a huge nerd and am actually wearing the tee as I write this blog.
