We always think it's funny to see "Stars: They're Just Like Us!" photos. You know, photos of some celeb going running or picking through the produce at the grocery store to show us that they're just normal people like you and I are. OMG! My fave celeb buys food too! I can't believe it!

Well, people need to remember that animals are just like us too! Check it out (Warning: Cuteness alert!):

Yup, it's that time again—we're looking for the vegetarians out there that are the cutest inside and out. We're trying to find the people that use their adorable personalities and utter cuteness to help animals. Is that you? Then you better get to entering our fourth annual Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest!

Check out what Kelly Anderson, one of our 2008 winners (that's her to the right!), had to say to me about her run as Cutest Vegetarian Alive:

What did it feel like to win our Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest?
I'm not going to lie; it felt pretty amazing to win the contest. I was not expecting it in the least bit, whatsoever. The entire day of the final round, I was telling all my friends how I was completely happy with runner-up. When I got the phone call, I almost thought it was a joke!

What do you think the best part is of being Cutest Vegetarian Alive?
The best part was definitely the connections I made through it. I was almost immediately submerged into the local animal rights scene. I can honestly say winning this contest entirely shaped who I am now ... an extremely active animal rights activist. Plus, not to mention getting to work with PETA and peta2 whenever they came in town was totally awesome!

Are you sad to pass on your crown to a new winner this year?
Of course I'm not sad! I can't wait for someone else to hopefully share the same experience.

Remember how pigs are similar to dogs? Well, the L.A. Times blog recently showed just how true this is. Check out little cutie-pie Kingsford below and I dare you not to smile!

Now I'm definitely not recommending you run out and get a piggy of your own to love and adore. Pigs get huge and require a much bigger commitment than many people realize. I just want you to think twice the next time bacon, ham, or pork comes your way, and say no for Kingsford's sake.

My Confession February 22, 2008

I have a weakness. You know how a lot us have a weakness for cute boys (or girls)? Well, I have a weakness for cute vegetarians. It's true; I admit it. Don't judge me! I practically melt into a puddle of cute-induced ooze when I see Milo "No Meat for Me" Ventimiglia's face grace my computer screen. And Miley Cyrus can't help but make me happy by being a huge star who doesn't eat anyone with a face. And don't even get me started on all the vegetarians I know in real life!

There is nothing more adorable than someone who wears his compassion on his sleeve by leaving animals off of his plate. So you can imagine that peta2's Cutest Vegetarian Alive contest makes me oh-so-happy each year! It's time for our third annual contest, and I can't wait for the entries to start pouring in! I can only imagine how many times I'm going to say "OMG!" and "She's totally cute" and "He's adorable!" over the next few weeks...

Alas, I won't be choosing the ultimate winner, as all of you will have to vote on who the winners should be. Cute vegetarians are everywhere, so this should be simple! Now's the time for you to nominate your best friend who always orders the veggie sandwich when you're out, or your boyfriend the Boca burger buff, or even you, the Riblet fanatic of the century (don't deny it!). Soychick has changed my life. I never thought anyone could be cuter than our own peta2 "Nugget", but Soychick definitely gives him some good competition. Check out the Soychick characters to the right, and you will see what I mean.
