Do YOU Want To Tour?! March 17, 2009

Howdy to all!

My name is Cody and I am the Youth Outreach Coordinator for peta2. Before I landed the job that I have now I was a tour contractor for a little over a year, which was one of the best experiences that I've ever had! I have been on tours including the Taste of Chaos tours in 2007 and 2008, Hellogoodbye, the Van's Warped Tour, the peta2 Not Nugget Tour featuring Silverstein, the Get A Life Tour (The Used) and more.

On top of the touring that I've done, I had the opportunity to table a few hip-hop events (one had Lil Wayne, The Game, Ice Cube and Chris Brown), a number of college conventions, music festivals, and more. As you can see, I was able to travel all over the US and Canada, eat some amazing vegan food, and most importantly, speak up for animals.

If you're ready to travel and help animals by getting animal rights info to people and having them sign peta2 petitions, then I highly encourage you to apply!

Click here for instructions on applying. You must be a careful driver with a valid U.S. driver's license and at least three years' clean driving record. And you have to be at least 21 or older. If you're not old enough to tour, don't fret! We have the Street Team for you!

Can We Get A Heck Yes For New Music? March 11, 2009

Posted by Marta at March 11, 2009 3:57 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

When I first started Street Teaming for peta2 I was always eager to listen to the awesome bands that support animal rights. I loved checking out bands like Paint It Black, Good Riddance, AFI, and Lifetime. I still look up to all four of them and listen to them often. With that being said, I want to introduce you all to a band that will be the Next Big Thing: This City In Collision.

This-City-In-Collision%20resized.jpg

This City In Collision consists of compassionate fellows Jeremy Guzman, Danny Lopez, Edgar Rivera, Zack Bradford, Donny Hampson and Alex Castillo. You can see them rocking peta2 shirts at shows in the Las Vegas area and possibly in your area sometime in 2009!

What got you interested in starting This City In Collision and speaking up for animals?
We were all in different bands throughout the beginning of the band, this was more like a side project which started due to our other bands lacking in self drive and dedication. Most of us have been vegetarian for awhile and what influenced us to speak up would be seeing videos and pictures of the treatment of animals and what they go through to be served on more than 1,000,000 people's dinner plates a year.

For all the other fairly new bands reading this, do you have any advice on how they can get more active for animals while being so busy?
Yes, even if you aren't vegetarian or vegan take some action in the right for animals, seriously it isn't as time consuming as you may make it out to be, get involved do some research, read up on things we promise you will find your reason to help such great organizations like PETA and peta2!

You're in the running to play an event called the Extreme Thing which includes bands like Bad Religion and Silverstein. How can people help you get on board for the event?
People can get us on the event by voting at: http://xpozlv.com/helix/members/battleofthebands.php?lS=5. We are one of the newest bands in the area and we have accomplished so much more than any other project we have been in. We feel like we finally deserve to play for a large concert and increase our fan base. It would be such a blessing and it definitely would not be able to happen without our fans!

Now you got some fresh tunes to check out and why not help our friends in This City In Collision with some votes? Let me know by commenting below if you voted for them!

ATTN: Fans of Rise Against October 20, 2008

Posted by Marta at October 20, 2008 2:01 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

Hello everybody!

Many of you, I'm sure, have heard a band called Rise Against, and if your ears are functioning well you also love and admire their musical ability and already have tickets to see them on their current tour when it passes close to you. If they alone can't seal your attendance I'm sure Alkaline Trio, Thrice, and The Gaslight Anthem will. This is one of the best tours in years, no doubt—get your tickets here!

So when you get to the show and head inside you'll need to find a booth that looks like the one below and join in with thousands of other people who have already voiced their support by agreeing that Meat's Not Green! Yep, it's the facts: Meat production and raising animals for food is the number one cause of global warming. No it's not cars, or planes, or even SUVs—it's hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the other disgusting things they grind animals into after they've been abused on factory farms. Ick!

Well OK, I'm sure you're bursting with anticipation of watching these amazing bands play for you soon enough, but be sure to take a minute and speak up in defense of the earth we live on—if this planet burns up where will you go to see amazing shows like this in future? Let's save this place. Thanks!

Pigs, Metal, Hardcore, Punk, and peta2 August 7, 2008

In the world of Warped Tour, EVERYONE is coming together to help stop cruelty to pigs in factory farms. Phil from All that Remains, and Jason our vegan friend of Evergreen Terrace signed the peta2 petition to end horrible treatment like pigs having their throats slit while FULLY conscious.

Nick and Jake—the Brit boys from TAT—also signed to end tortures to pigs. Look for them in the fall with our old friends MXPX and Only Crime.

Haven't had the chance to sign yet? Not to worry. You can be hip and with it here. And in case you have a keen fashion sense like our pal Tim of Ludo you can get our exclusive Woof shirt online.

We also had some rad Street Teamers in Chicago come rock it out with us for one of our most successful days on tour! Check out Nikki, Jessica, and Sylvia:

Brutally Yours,

Paige

Definitely Click On This August 6, 2008

Posted by Marta at August 6, 2008 3:09 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 8 ) | TrackBack

OK, thanks for clicking the link that lead to this blog. Now take a second to read on and see what other cool things can happen when you interact with peta2.com by clicking links, reading blogs, and doing other fun computer things like that. :)

First things first, you can win two tickets to the Mayhem Festival and get a chance to see Slipknot, Disturbed, Underoath, and Five Finger Death Punch, not to mention plenty of others (check the full lineup here!). Just by hanging out with peta2 online you could find yourself at the Mayhem date of your choice with a friend, for free! How's that sound? Just check out Sarah Sparks and her friend, who recently stopped by the peta2 booth to tell us they had won tickets online and were excited to be at such a great show for free, and we were excited to meet them!

We also just had the chance to meet one of our Cutest Vegetarian Alive winners this year, Kelly Anderson, who entered our contest online and was announced as the winner way back in April—congratulations! The cutest thing about Kelly is her desire to work so hard to help animals on factory farms. Here she is at the Mayhem Festival collecting signatures for our woof petition. Thank you Kelly for working so hard for animals.

You see, just by keeping regular contact with peta2 you can end up attending free concerts or getting the opportunity to help us help animals one day, if you haven't signed up for our e-news yet you should get on that, or else how will you know what awesome things are coming your way? Thanks a lot and we hope to hear from you soon!

peta2 UK at Rip Curl Boardmasters UK July 30, 2008

Posted by Marta at July 30, 2008 12:35 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Here's a guest blog from Martin with peta2 UK!

We have been all over the place this summer on the road collecting petition sign ups for the woof campaign in the UK. It's been great fun. I have been lucky enough to be at all of the big festivals.

Glastonbury

Give it a Name

T in the Park

And loads of other festivals.

Next on the list is Rip Curl Boardmasters and I am really excited about this one. Not only are Kids in Glass Houses playing but we get to see some of the world's biggest and best surfers (and hang out on the beach for a week). If any of you guys are around then make sure you come down and help us collect sign ups. Just look for the peta2 UK stall.

Catch you there,

Martin

No Space to Move in a Crate July 24, 2008

Posted by Marta at July 24, 2008 1:57 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

Mother pigs spend most of their lives in tiny "gestation" crates, which are so small that the animals are unable to turn around or even lie down comfortably. They are repeatedly impregnated until they are slaughtered.

Here on Warped Tour the guy pictured below volunteered to get a first hand feel of the space mommy pigs get...or should I say don't get!

Need some other reasons not to eat pigs? Check this out.

Nick from As I Lay Dying got in on the action by signing our petition.

Plus we had some SICK Street Teamers—these dudes totally stole my heart with their hard work and dedication to helping animals. Thanks, Shawn and Kenny!

Join the fun, steal some hearts, and save some animals by signing up for the Street Team already!

And as always,

STAY BRUTAL

Heavy Metal and Animal Rights: Perfect Together July 23, 2008

Posted by Marta at July 23, 2008 2:53 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

So here we are, 10 shows into this spectacle known throughout the land as the Rockstar Mayhem Festival, and we've begun to notice some common questions/remarks we're receiving. I think it's time now to address one of them here on this blog so everybody knows the answer to it :). Several times a day we're asked, "So how has this tour been for you guys? Are kids being friendly and playing nice with peta2?" Let me tell you, we appreciate your concern, but I'd also like to remind everyone that we're all against cruelty to animals aren't we?

No matter your music of choice, or how hard you can bang your head or pump your fist, I'm sure you'd agree that no pig should be castrated without pain killers or kept in tiny crates with no room to even turn around, right? I mean, if you thought metal kids might not care as much about animals as any other kids, please let this picture display all the eager people trying to get in and sign our petition recently in Phoenix, AZ:

We enjoyed a nice steady line of friendly folks across the front of our booth all day long, and let me tell you, if they weren't signing our petition it's because they were waiting in line to get a stab at it. It always brings a smile to peta2's face when we see that people love helping animals and will even wait in line to do so! Just look at these fine folks:

Thanks for everything, now go win some tickets so you can stop by our booth and help pigs too!

What Warped Bands Are Signing Against Cruelty to Animals? July 18, 2008

Welcome back blog readers. It's another rockin' week at Warped Tour. I'm happy to say that our friends from A Day to Remember signed the Woof petition as well as some of the dudes from Say Anything.

We've had some rad Street Teamers this week (as usual!), like Nehemie in Atlanta.

Thanks to all the office staff and interns who came out to help at the Virginia Beach show!

Don't forget to look out for us at the Mayhem Festival and Dirtfest!

This Little Piggy Went to the Warped Tour July 16, 2008

Posted by Marta at July 16, 2008 10:15 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

The road Warriors have been staying very busy out here on Warped Tour this week—spreading the word about heinous abuses that pigs are suffering on factory farms. Did you know that mother pigs sing to their young? Sooo freakin' cute.

Want to help spread the word? I thought so! Go here for your Woof Prize Pack. Right after you sign the petition, of course!

Although we had to say goodbye to our friends from 1997, the lovely Alida wrote another tour blog for us! This is something we can relate to!

We've had some wicked Street Teamers help out, including the AMAZING Kelly, who just so happened to be voted Cutest Vegetarian Alive earlier this year!

And this rad guy, Jacob (below, on the right), was helping us collect signatures to save pigs!

That is all for now, so I'll just leave you with this...

Stay Brutal

Paige
