Cobra Starship Says Down with Fur! April 28, 2008

Posted by Nicole at April 28, 2008 9:37 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 15 ) | TrackBack

The very good people of Cobra Starship are at it again. And when I say again, I mean Gabe and crew are helping more animals. Oh I love that Cobra, just love 'em!

gabe%20pic.jpg

This time Gabe, along with the rest of the fine Cobra clan, have teamed up with their Fueled By Ramen family, Youth Noise, and peta2 to say "¡Down With Fur!"

Gabe and the gang realize that millions of animals being drowned, beaten to death, strangled, gassed, electrocuted, and even skinned alive every year for the fur on their backs is just plain wrong. And did you know that many of these defenseless animals are cats and dogs, too? Fur is reprehensible, outdated, and completely unnecessary and that's why Cobra is speaking out against this filthy, hideous industry and decided to make it their cause on Youth Noise. Check out their brand-spankin' new widget below and click on the "grab it" button to get the code to add it to your page!

Easy as all hell, now wasn't it?

Also make sure you head over to our friends at Youth Noise to check out what other important issues people are talking about and join a cause yourself. Of course we're all passionate about animal rights here, but we also recognize that there are a lot of other important issues out there that need your attention, too. Youth Noise and their "MyCauseIs" tool is a great way to learn and get involved. Our dear Cobra friends want you to get off your asses and do something to make the world a better place. So whatever cause affects you most, get to it!

Oh and remember, like Gabe says, "Throw your fangs in the air, if you a true playa (but you can't be a playa if you're getting played by the fur trade)."

Did I mention how much I love Cobra? If I already did, well then I'm just re-iterating the fact with total and complete glee.

Hope all is lovely.

The Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour, Part 2! February 20, 2008

Posted by Marta at February 20, 2008 12:25 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

We are still out on tour with Cobra Starship on the Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking tour talking about the Chinese fur trade and what we can do to help stop it. This tour has been one of my favorite tours for many reasons. The main reason is because of how awesome all the kids are who have come out to the show. I also love all the flashy fur-free clothing everyone is wearing. If you came out to one of the shows already, thank you so much for being so awesome.

Speaking of Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking, we were at the peta2 SG Party in Hollywood. If you haven't yet make sure you check out our pictures and look at all the awesome ads they did for us.

I want to throw a big shout out to Video Matt from Synthesis Magazine for doing an awesome interview with John and me about our fur campaign. You should make sure you check out the video here.

Man, I love my job, and I bet you would love it too. You all should apply for one; you would get to do awesome stuff like this.

- Paul & John

The Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour! February 15, 2008

Everyone knows vegetarians are sexy people, but no one proves that point better then Gabe from Cobra Starship. We just joined up with him on tour to talk to kids about how animals are raised and killed for fur.

Everyone we talked to at our first show to was amazing and really, really ridiculously good looking. We showed up to the show way too early and there were already kids hanging out in line 6 hours before the show started. We had so much fun hanging out with everyone and even played Twister. I never knew I could bend like I did, but after a few pulled muscles I did win.

If you guys haven't noticed, we have a new touring buddy we like to call "Tall John" only because he is 7 feet tall. Hey Tall John, show us your fangs!!!

If you get a chance make sure you come out to one of the Cobra Starship shows. We would love to hang out.

-Paul and Tall John

Ladies and Gentlemen, Cobra's Gabe Saporta... October 23, 2007

Posted by Nicole at October 23, 2007 1:30 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 14 ) | TrackBack

So today I have a real treat for you in the way of a guest blog. Now I'm not talking about just any old guest here--it's the one, it's the only...Mr. Gabe Saporta!! (insert applause here) Get excited people because Gabe and the Cobra clan are releasing their second CD, !Viva La Cobra!, today! As if that's not exciting enough, the always lovely Mr. Saporta is also giving away three signed copies to three of you luckies. Okay, okay, enough from me. Take it away, Gabe...

gabe%20pic.jpg
Happy October 23rd everyone! October is my favorite month! Not only because it's my birthday month, and not only because it has my favorite Holiday (Columbus Day, not Halloween as you might have incorrectly assumed...PSYCHE!) but also because both Cobra Starship albums have come out in this month! Last October (10/11/06) I put out my first record, While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets, in a whirlwind after Snakes on a Plane came out. And today, just a year later, we are putting out our second record, iViva La Cobra!.

This past year has been insane. The most amazing thing has been watching Cobras transform from some semi-retarded solo project into a real life band! Making this record as a band really solidified us, and having Patrick Stump (from Fall Out Boy) produce it just brought us to another level. We actually wrote the entire record while we were on tour with Fall Out Boy in the spring. On that tour I also did the peta2 interview with FOB's drummer, Andy Hurley, and in honor of Hurley, peta2, and all the veggies and animal lovers out there, we are giving away three signed copies of the record.
viva%20la%20cobras.jpg

In order to win a copy, just jot down a few sentences as to what inspired you to become a vegetarian! Thanks again to everyone who has been supporting Cobras for the past year and allowed us to make another record! And thanks to peta2 and everyone out there who is trying to make a difference for animals everywhere!

Fangs up!
-Gabe

Okay people--be sure to get your comments to us by November 13 and I'll notify the lucky winners by November 20.
