One Minute Mission: Call Delia's and Ask Them to Stop Promoting Ringling Bros! September 1, 2009
Posted by Marta at September 1, 2009 1:13 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBackAs we told you last week, Delia's is currently selling a shirt that promotes Ringling Bros. We've contacted Delia's CEO to let him know that Ringling beats animals, separates mother elephants from their babies, and chains elephants for up to 100 hours at a time—and hundreds of you have written to Delia's, voicing your concerns and asking the clothing company to stop selling a T-shirt that promotes such blatant cruelty to animals. One amazing activist was even so outraged that Delia's was promoting Ringling Bros. that she gathered all the clothes that she's purchased from Delia's and took a picture to show the company that she is indeed a customer and wants them to stop selling the tee immediately:

So why isn't Delia's listening to its customers and showing compassion for elephants? Your guess is as good as mine, but I do know that we need Delia's to continue hearing from all of you, so please take a minute to call Delia's customer service line at 888-533-5427 and press six to talk to a representative. Tell the company that you won't shop at Delia's until it stops promoting cruelty to animals by supporting Ringling Bros. And please remember to be polite!
Once you call, drop us an e-mail at StreetTeam@peta2.com, letting us know how it all went, and we'll give you 1,000 Street Team points.
Remember, Ringling's elephants need your voice!

P.S. If you haven't written to Delia's yet, please do so now too!
Why Is Delia's Supporting Ringling Bros? August 27, 2009
Posted by Marta at August 27, 2009 5:37 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBackI used to be all about Delia's. Last summer, some peta2 staffers and I went to Richmond for the day, and we most definitely made sure to stop by the Delia's store, which is why I'm all the more disappointed that the clothing company is selling a Ringling Bros. tee that proclaims the animal-abusing circus to be "the greatest show on Earth."
PETA contacted Delia's CEO to let him know that Ringling beats animals, separates mother elephants from their babies, and chains elephants for up to 100 hours at a time—and even sent a link to our new undercover investigation, but Delia's continues to sell the Ringling tees. In case you haven't seen the investigation yet, check it out:
It just isn't right that Delia's is selling a tee that promotes such blatant cruelty to animals. I mean seriously—these T-shirts are basically allowing customers to be walking billboards for beating elephants.
Please click here to contact Delia's CEO to ask him to watch our investigation and to stop all sales of Delia's Ringling tee immediately. Do it for those who have no voice—especially Tonka, Luna, and Ringling's other elephants.
Let's make sure Delia's knows that no one is OK with Ringling beating animals!
P.S. If you want to sport a circus tee with quite a different message—check this out.

It's Almost Libby Awards Time! December 17, 2008
Posted by Patricia at December 17, 2008 11:13 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 9 ) | TrackBackWow, the holidays are right around the corner, which means its time for all of that celebrating, spending time with long lost relatives, and spreading joy. And let's not forget about the presents!
Speaking of presents, I'm hoping Santa is bringing me lots of cute vegan shoes, which reminds me that it's almost time for peta2's third annual Libby Awards!
The Libbys are peta2's way of recognizing veg-friendly foods and restaurants, and animal-friendly companies, bands, celebs, labels, athletes, and movies among others. Oh, and here's where you come in, we want your input!
Got a favorite clothing company, shoe, or line of cruelty-free cosmetics you can't live without? Tell us about it!
What companies or products would you nominate for the following categories?
- Best Animal-Friendly Clothing Company (Skelanimals was last year's winner.)
- Best Men's Vegan Sneaker (Macbeth's Aberdale Vegan ran away with the prize in 2007.)
- Best Cruelty-Free Cosmetic Company (Last year e.l.f. wiped out the competition.)
- Best Women's Vegan Shoe (My fave category! Keds Eleanor Grosch Skimmers was your fave shoe for 2007.)

Free Stuff Friday: Vegetarian Hoodie! September 5, 2008
Posted by Ashleigh at September 5, 2008 8:59 AM | Permalink | Comments ( 2199 ) | TrackBackI have found the staple for your cruelty-free back-to-school wardrobe. Is it a great pair of jeans or a pair of faux-leather boots?
Well, those are nice, but I'm thinking of peta2's new 'Vegetarian' Zip Hoodie:

Notice how 'vegetarian' looks. Vegans AND vegetarians can rock this hoodie because it says both!
Comment below telling me why you want to wear this everywhere you go for a chance to be one of THREE lucky winners!
This contest ends September 26, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified by October 3, 2008!
Just so you know...by commenting here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.
