Vegan Mac Danzig IS The Ultimate Fighter December 11, 2007

That's it! Vegans always win and are tougher than anyone else. It's true, and I said it.

This weekend, Mac Danzig beat Tommy Speer during the second minute of the first round of their fight, becoming champion of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), and landing himself a spot in the UFC . Not only was the fight exciting to watch but it was all the cooler for us here at peta2 because we (unlike SOME bandwagon-jumping bloggers) go way back with our friend Mac.

As TUF audiences discovered in episode 1, Mac is vegan. He did a q&a with peta2 all about his decision to be cruelty free which you can check out here. Mac is no nonsense when it comes to standing up for animals. He believes that with power comes great responsibility; the strong are obligated to protect the vulnerable.

Not only has going vegan helped Mac to sleep better at night,(knowing that each year, there are 100 fewer animals suffering because he simply chooses not to eat them) he says that the health benefits associated with a vegan diet have made him a meaner, leaner fighter. He said that without losing any muscle, he felt lighter and faster. Many people report being able to think more clearly after going vegan, too. If you watched Saturday's finale, you know what I'm talking about—Mac was on POINT!

So, congratulations, Mac Danzig! We look forward to seeing you fight in the UFC. And we're also looking forward to seeing how many of your fans go vegan, knowing how much ass you kick.

Peace!
Cassandra

P.S. - In the spirit of "vegan competition" I've updated this blog with a video I jacked from Jack's YouTube profile which features highlights from some of Mac Danzig's fights. Enjoy!
