We try to stay on our toes with the all the latest Blink 182 news, and today I'm happy to report that in a recent interview Travis Barker stated that he's back to being vegetarian and is "almost full blown vegan"! A longtime vegetarian, Travis fell off the proverbial wagon after sustaining serious injuries in a plane crash last year.
Fresh off Blink 182's sold out reunion tour, he's healthy as can be and back to being meat-free! He's even kicking it up a notch by ditching the dairy, saying that "once you find out all the crazy stuff with dairy, you'd probably second-guess it too." I'd say so!
Glad to have you back on the team Travis!
Win a Signed Blink 182 Tour Poster! September 10, 2009
Posted by Megan Rondeau at September 10, 2009 4:20 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 746 ) | TrackBackI have in my possession probably the coolest prizes peta2 has ever given away. I may or may not have given serious consideration to stealing the prizes for myself and making a run for it. My conscience got the best of me though, so I'm offering it up to you guys instead. You're welcome. As I'm sure you remember, a few weeks ago we unveiled Tom DeLonge's first ever peta2 PSA reminding everyone how important it is to spay and neuter your companion animals so that you're doing your part to control the animal over-population crisis in this country. The release of the PSA happened to be perfectly timed with one of the best things to happen in my life thus far ... the return of Blink 182. Seriously, I don't even think I can articulate how stoked I am to see this tour!

To celebrate Tom's love for peta2 and my love for Blink 182, we're giving away 3 sets of autographed posters. Three very lucky winners, whom I will be very jealous of, will get one autographed official tour poster and one autographed Macbeth poster. For your chance to win, leave a comment with your favorite Blink 182 song. That's it! Three winners will be chosen at random on Thursday September 17 and notified no later than Monday September 21.

vegetarian Twitter Blink 182 Travis Barker
For all of you loyal peta2 blog followers out there, you probably saw Shan's post about Mark Hoppus receiving a Compassionate Citizen Award earlier this week for his decision to use a fake octopus in a video shoot. That is just another in my long list of reasons why I LOVE Blink 182. But Blink's love for animals doesn't stop there—Travis Barker has recently made comments on his Twitter about his love of veggie food!
I really don't think it's possible for me to love this band any more than I already do! Who else is counting down the days until they release the dates of their summer tour?
P.S. You should follow peta2 on Twitter!

Music Twitter Blink 182 Mark Hoppus Octopus

If you don't already track Blink 182's Mark Hoppus' every move through his Twitter account, allow me to fill you in on something awesome that one of our Blink-loving staff members spotted last week:
Ask and ye shall receive, Mark!
Since Mark made the compassionate choice to use a plastic prop rather than a real octopus for his photo shoot, peta2 is giving him a 'Compassionate Citizen' Award. He'll also receive a framed certificate and a card signed by peta2 staffers.
Octopi are intelligent and sensitive animals who have been observed communicating with each other. They're able to grasp objects with their tentacles just like we can with our hands, and some have even been taught to unscrew jar lids in order to retrieve food inside.
Here's to Mark for showing that "all the small things" deserve compassion and respect!
Welcome Back, Blink! February 10, 2009
Posted by Shannon Phillips at February 10, 2009 5:41 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBackSunday night was a really good night for me. So there I was, watching the Grammys, admiring all the outfits, celebrities, and performances—when all of the sudden, Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker took the stage and reunited as Blink 182 to announce that Blink is back! Even better? Blink has a new album in the works, and there have been some pretty heavy rumors about Blink playing this summer's VANS Warped Tour. My fingers are crossed!
Welcome back, Blink!
In the meantime, if you need your Blink-fix, check out our video interview with Tom DeLonge—one-third of Blink-182, front man of Angels & Airwaves, and the mastermind behind Modlife and Macbeth Shoes!
