So a Bear Walks Into a Fur Store ... August 17, 2009

It sounds like the beginning of a faux cheesy joke, but it was no laughing matter for the cruel shoppers perusing the racks at Mark Richards Fine Outerwear in Aspen, CO.

You see, Mark Richards is a store that sells the skins of animals, in the form of fur coats. In an understandable mistake, a local bear apparently walked into the shop on a busy Saturday night—maybe trying to find out why all of his friends keep disappearing?

Evidently the bear has more fashion sense than some other residents of Aspen, as he walked out without buying anything. CNN has the full story, and a video of the encounter:

What do you think the bear thought as he walked in the fur store?

I'm going to guess it was something to the effect of "Billy, is that you?"

Caught On Camera December 18, 2008

Sarah from peta2 UK wants to tell you about a new investigation. Check it out.

A shocking new video has been released that is full of inhumane and barbaric behaviour—slaughter, skinning and racism.

Caught on camera, bear skinners were secretly filmed cutting the skin off the corpse of a black bear, adding in some racial slur for good measure. These skins are sold at the same auctions where the Ministry of Defence buys furs to make the Queen's guards' hats.

There is no excuse for racism and there is definitely no excuse for the Queen to support the killing of black bears for their fur. The MoD is taking too long to make the right decision—ditch the bear skins and go faux.

So long as the Queen's guards' caps continue to be made from bear skins, they will only ever be a symbol of cruelty at its worst.

Watch the footage here—but be warned of the graphical content and colourful language. After you watch the video, send an e-mail to Quentin Davies, MP the new minister in charge of procurement for the MoD.

God Save the Bears!
