Hometown: Downtown Detroit, which I have a ridiculous amount of pride for. Don't hate!

Favorite Bands: I love anything post-punk or new wave, and most industrial. Faves are Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Joy Division, Brand New, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, VNV Nation, Hanson (yep, "MMMBop" for life!), Of Montreal, Tool, Sia, Feist, Tegan and Sara, Converge, From Autumn to Ashes, Jeff Buckley, The Smiths, a perfect circle, Michael Jackson, Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, Sufjan Stevens, City and Colour, Christian Death, The Birthday Massacre, AFI, Pink Floyd, In Flames, Bad Religion, Kill Hannah, The Misfits, Most Precious Blood, Dillinger Escape Plan, Portishead, Radiohead, Propagandhi, Rise Against, Tori Amos, :wumpscut:, At the Drive In, and way, way more.

About Me: I'm an only child. I laugh a lot. I have random celebratory dances. I've got a lil' gangsta in me from being raised in Detroit. I bike and walk mostly everywhere. Trent Reznor is my personal hero. If you get to know me, I'm one of the goofiest people you'll ever meet. I can be overly honest. I took hip-hop dance classes for five years. I love soccer and (Detroit) hockey—but watching hockey games drives me crazy! My favorite thing to do with friends is watch marathons of The Office, Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, The Mighty Boosh, Sex and the City, or Ghost Hunters. I love to deliver straw to backyard dogs, eat vegan food, or … throw an '80s dance party, of course!

I Love: Animal liberation. My cats, Hannah and Lily Monster. Detroit. Bubble tea. Straw delivery. Davey Havok. Conan O'Brien. Fran Mark. Noel Fielding. Boys with tattoos. Writing. Reading. My iPod. Ghosts. The Paranormal. The Detroit Red Wings. Scarves. Stilettos. October. Halloween. Autumn. Goth nights. Photography. Graphic design. All animals. Iced soy lattes. Independent coffee shops, bookstores, and record stores. Band shirts and pins. Falling in love in the fall. Poetry and writing. Small concerts in even smaller clubs. Skylines. Salem, Massachusetts. Grocery shopping at Whole Foods. Tabling at shows. The artwork of Vincent Marcone. The writing of Henry Rollins, Elizabeth Wurtzel, Sylvia Plath, Augusten Burroughs, and Alice Sebold. Being picked on. Coconut, banana, almond, and cinnamon smoothies. Thunderstorms. Cold weather and rainy days. Vegan Chinese food. Old-school black-and-white horror movies. Nosferatu. Zombies. Anything with pumpkin in it. Michigan lakes in the winter. Indian food. Jasmine tea. Getting flowers. "Meat tray" demos. Indie films. Seeing Nine Inch Nails live.

I Dislike: Apathy and neutrality. People who chain their dogs outside. The smell of gasoline. Driving. Plane trips. Hot weather. Teen comedies. MTV. Objects being pushed at me slowly. Wal-Mart. Drugs. Cigarette smoke. People who lie. Being hungry. Most fruit. Headaches. Most movies. Ignorance. Bad music. Drivers who try to hit you when you're biking!

Animal Rights Tattoos: I have "Liberate, Protect, Avenge" on my collar bone, and "vegan" on my right arm.

What's your favorite veg restaurant and food? OMG. How am I supposed to choose? I have to give a shout out to Seva in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but I think Foodswings (for its milkshakes and breakfast sandwiches!), Red Bamboo in New York City, or Sticky Fingers in D.C. take the (vegan) cake! My favorite food would generally have to be tofu—in Indian food, Mexican food, whatever (delish!). I also love Lebanese food: falafel and fattoush (yum!).

Why You Went Veg: I went veg in high school after doing a newspaper article on the fur industry. I remember staying up really late one night writing it and crying my eyes out after seeing all the images of minks, foxes, and other animals who were skinned alive. I remember sitting there thinking that by being a consumer, I had the power to affect this industry. Some of my research was done on PETA.org. I distinctly remember sitting in my dark living room and just taking in all the images at once; I felt so guilty. From then on, I decided that I was no longer going to support anything that funded abuse, rape, and cruelty to animals. I couldn't ever imagine having my companion animals treated that way—why would I pay for other animals to be tortured?
