So a Bear Walks Into a Fur Store ... August 17, 2009

It sounds like the beginning of a faux cheesy joke, but it was no laughing matter for the cruel shoppers perusing the racks at Mark Richards Fine Outerwear in Aspen, CO.

You see, Mark Richards is a store that sells the skins of animals, in the form of fur coats. In an understandable mistake, a local bear apparently walked into the shop on a busy Saturday night—maybe trying to find out why all of his friends keep disappearing?

Evidently the bear has more fashion sense than some other residents of Aspen, as he walked out without buying anything. CNN has the full story, and a video of the encounter:

What do you think the bear thought as he walked in the fur store?

I'm going to guess it was something to the effect of "Billy, is that you?"

Snow Bunnies on the Slopes in Aspen! December 1, 2008

As you hopefully already know, this past Friday was Fur-Free Friday—only one of the best days of the year! There were demonstrations going on all over the place, including here in Norfolk, but I have to say that I was so completely excited to see the pictures from the demonstration my friends Virginia and Colleen did on the slopes in Aspen, CO. Check it out!

So amazing, right? Our lovely snow bunnies mentioned that everyone loved that they were out there and wanted to take pictures with them. Aren't their snowboards great?

And of course, I have to share a picture from a demo that one of our awesome Street Teamers did. Kelly Anderson, one of this year's Cutest Vegetarians Alive, and Voice for Animals held a "Be Comfortable In Your Own Skin" demo on the intersection by Morris Kaye and Sons ("Texas' Largest Fur Manufacturer") in San Antonio. Kelly said passersby were very supportive. How could they not be? Great demo, Kelly!

Fur is Dead—plain and simple. How did you spend Fur-Free Friday?

Marta
