Don't forget to write to Armani to urge him to keep the promise that he made by permanently removing all fur from his collections.
Hurry! Call Armani Before The Oscars! February 12, 2009
Posted by Rachel-O at February 12, 2009 3:58 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 6 ) | TrackBackAlright, so the Oscars are just a few days away and unfortunately for animals, that means Armani's people get to push their pelts out to celebs to wear out on the red carpet. Here's the deal: all of the bunnies need your help to put the pressure on Armani to stop the butchering. Please call Armani's office at 212-366-9720 now and ask them to stop selling fur and if you haven't already, write to him here.

Working for PETA, I've seen a lot of horrible things happen to animals, and it takes a lot to actually turn my stomach, but the video from an investigation into a Chinese rabbit-fur farm—China being a country Armani has purchased fur from in the past—actually made me want to throw up.
In the video footage workers pull rabbits out of cages by their ears and stun the screaming animals with hand held electric devices, often multiple times. Rabbits with cut throats can be seen twitching and shaking, with their eyes wide open, before they die.
Their fur is literally ripped off of their bodies to end up on some one else's back. I don't think any of us here in peta2 could get their screams out of our heads for weeks after watching. Please tell Armani to stop selling fur.
Can You Make A Call To Help Bunnies? January 5, 2009

Will you give them a call real quickly to ask why they went back on a promise not to use real fur?
Enough with broken promises! On behalf of all animals who are on fur farms right now—with their paws tangled in wire cages, their bodies crippled on top of dead cage mates, their necks seconds away from being broken, or their bodies seconds away from being skinned alive—we're asking you to raise your voice for the breath they're about to lose.
Call Armani at 212-366-9720.

All you need to say is something polite like, "I heard that you sell real rabbit fur. Why is that? I refuse to support your company and will tell all my friends and family to boycott you until you go fur-free."
Let us know once you call and tell us what response you get. Again, the number is 212-366-9720.
Drop a line to StreetTeam@peta2.com, and we'll give you 500 points!
Thanks!

Donna Karan Dumps Fur! December 22, 2008

Donna Karan, the target of one of our campaigns, has announced that her fall 2009 lines will be fur-free and that she has "no plans" to use fur in the future!
PETA is now calling on activists and supporters to put the brakes on "Donna Karan: Bunny Butcher" antics, which have included protesting outside her boutiques, crashing her runway show, and exposing her cruel use of fur online. This is a win for the real fashion victims—animals, who are routinely skinned alive for their pelts—and will allow all to focus on Armani and other targets while keeping an eye on Donna Karan's 2010 collection.
Karan's announcement came days after PETA launched its (now offline) DonnaKaranBunnyButcher.com Web site and after mega-fashion guru Tim Gunn sent Karan and designer Giorgio Armani a video that he narrated for PETA showing animals skinned alive for their fur and urged Karan and Armani to open their eyes to the violent and bloody fur industry.
While Donna Karan has followed in the footsteps of top designers—including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein—Armani still refuses to stop using fur. Armani claims that he "only" uses fur from rabbits who are butchered for meat. We hope that you will take this opportunity to contact Armani to tell him that while the meat of gentle rabbits killed for their fur in China is sold to be eaten, the suffering that they endure is exactly the same. Point out that the cruelty depicted in this video on fur farms in both China and France show animals who are used for both fur and meat.
Thanks to all those who make phone calls, send emails and letters, and anything else you do to help with our campaigns.
