Win the New FOB CD! November 17, 2009

Posted by Megan Rondeau at November 17, 2009 1:16 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 24 ) | TrackBack

Today is a bittersweet record release day. On the one hand, one of my all time favorite bands is releasing a new record, but ... it's a "greatest hits" album and their last before they go on what some have speculated to be quite a long break. If you haven't guessed yet, I'm talking about Fall Out Boy. Only a few years ago they were just 4 dudes from the suburbs of Chicago playing crappy pop punk in nearly empty VFW halls. Today it's no stretch of the imagination to say that they're one of the biggest bands in the world. And they've been supportive of peta2 from the get go! With long-time vegan Andy Hurley behind the kit, it's not surprising that he's spoken out about the cruelty of KFC and the benefits of a vegan diet.

So in honor of these princes of pop punk who I still adore despite the glitz and glamour and absurdity of it all, we're giving away 2 copies of their new album, Believers Never Die. For your chance to win, leave a comment with the best Fall Out Boy show you've been to. And if you haven't seen them live, make something up! Two winners will be chosen at random and notified on November 24.

I'll kick things off! Of the ridiculous amount of FOB shows I've been to, I don't know if I have a solid favorite, but I'd have to say that the show with The Reunion Show in Atlanta in 2003 is definitely memorable!

Fall Out Boy VS The Spider August 10, 2009

Posted by Shannon Phillips at August 10, 2009 3:28 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 8 ) | TrackBack

So imagine that Fall Out Boy are in South Korea and they happen to get trapped in a room with a large spider. What happens next?

a) The entire band freaks out.
b) The band makes plans to transport the spider to Cobra Starship's dressing room.
c) Patrick saves the band from their fears by catching the spider in a cup and relocating the spider to his outdoor home.
d) All of the above.

Well, if you answered "d", you'd be correct! Check it out ...

Fall Out Boy - Asia Update 3 from clandestine on Vimeo.

What Fall Out Boy might not know is that spiders are likely to be more afraid of us than we are of them! Regardless, Patrick really did the right thing by catching the spider in the cup and putting him outside. Like Fall Out Boy, and many people out there, I once had a fear of spiders—but after seeing moves like Charlotte's Web (a favorite of mine!) and learning about the existence of vegetarian spiders, I developed a new found respect for the eight-legged critters. Anytime a little spider makes it into my home, I am sure to catch him safely in a cup and return him to his home outdoors.

Have you ever saved a bug?

xo
Shan

Andy Hurley on 'Cribs'! March 10, 2009

Posted by Tiffany Wright at March 10, 2009 2:27 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 1 ) | TrackBack

Did you guys check out MTV Cribs last weekend? If you did, you saw the crib of Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley. His fridge was pimped out with all sorts of vegan goodies. And don't worry—if you missed this week's Cribs episode with Andy you can still catch it here.

Not only do we ♥ Andy 'cause he's vegan, but he never misses a chance to stick up for animals. Check out what he had to say about vegetarianism, fur, and Pete Wentz's dog, Hemingway, in this exclusive peta2 interview.

And while you're doing that, think about what MTV Cribs would find if they filmed the inside of your fridge.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Cobra's Gabe Saporta... October 23, 2007

Posted by Nicole at October 23, 2007 1:30 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 14 ) | TrackBack

So today I have a real treat for you in the way of a guest blog. Now I'm not talking about just any old guest here--it's the one, it's the only...Mr. Gabe Saporta!! (insert applause here) Get excited people because Gabe and the Cobra clan are releasing their second CD, !Viva La Cobra!, today! As if that's not exciting enough, the always lovely Mr. Saporta is also giving away three signed copies to three of you luckies. Okay, okay, enough from me. Take it away, Gabe...

Happy October 23rd everyone! October is my favorite month! Not only because it's my birthday month, and not only because it has my favorite Holiday (Columbus Day, not Halloween as you might have incorrectly assumed...PSYCHE!) but also because both Cobra Starship albums have come out in this month! Last October (10/11/06) I put out my first record, While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets, in a whirlwind after Snakes on a Plane came out. And today, just a year later, we are putting out our second record, iViva La Cobra!.

This past year has been insane. The most amazing thing has been watching Cobras transform from some semi-retarded solo project into a real life band! Making this record as a band really solidified us, and having Patrick Stump (from Fall Out Boy) produce it just brought us to another level. We actually wrote the entire record while we were on tour with Fall Out Boy in the spring. On that tour I also did the peta2 interview with FOB's drummer, Andy Hurley, and in honor of Hurley, peta2, and all the veggies and animal lovers out there, we are giving away three signed copies of the record.

In order to win a copy, just jot down a few sentences as to what inspired you to become a vegetarian! Thanks again to everyone who has been supporting Cobras for the past year and allowed us to make another record! And thanks to peta2 and everyone out there who is trying to make a difference for animals everywhere!

Fangs up!
-Gabe

Okay people--be sure to get your comments to us by November 13 and I'll notify the lucky winners by November 20.

Andy Hurley's Chocolate Shake Madness! June 26, 2007

Posted by Lara Sanders at June 26, 2007 2:28 PM | Permalink | Comments ( 3 ) | TrackBack

Check out this pic of Fall Out Boy's Andy Hurley sharing his favorite recipe for a vegan chocolate shake with Rolling Stone.

Andy_Hurley_FOB.bmp

To make the shake, Andy says, "About this much vanilla soy milk, up to here with chocolate soy milk, then a scoop of peanut butter, some liquid amino acids to complete the protein."

I don't really know how liquid amino acids taste, but the rest sounds yum! For more yummy vegan recipes, check out What to Eat on peta2. I highly recommend trying 'Chocolate Chip Paradise'.

xoxo-Lara
