The day has finally arrived ... AFI's brand new album, Crash Love, has officially been released!
I am so happy, I can't stand it. I've listened to it about 50 times today. So far "Darling, I Want to Destroy You" is my favorite track.
With each album I always think that I couldn't possibly love it more than the last and then I do, and Crash Love is no exception. My Davey Havok sounds better than ever, sigh. And have you seen the promo pix? Wow. Perfection. And speaking of perfection, check out Davey's vegan testimonial video to find out why he doesn't eat animals ... or wear them for that matter.
Oh, Davey. Like I said, perfection.
Thanks, AFI. I desperately needed this.

Usually most of us dream about traveling in/with a band sometime in our life, right? Since I've been involved with peta2 I've had the opportunity to do just that (check out the different jobs available here at PETA)! I've been on tours that featured artists/bands Bayside, Chiodos, The Cool Kids, Comeback Kid, hellogoodbye, Silverstein, and many more (not to brag). Along with touring you get to meet some awesome people and stop at some awesome venues. One of my personal favorite venues happens to be in St. Louis, The Pageant.
The Pageant has an amazing set up, is in a great area, there are always awesome bands playing, and I can't forget about the amazing staff! The venue has hosted quite a few non-profit organizations in the past and peta2 is happy to be one of them. The last time I was in St. Louis I popped by a show that peta2's friends in Never Shout Never were playing at The Pageant and I had the chance to spread the word about how Meat's Not Green—remember, eating meat is like driving a whole fleet of SUVs around the block every time you sit down for dinner.
If you're on the Street Team and live in/near St. Louis and would like to help in the future drop us a line at peta2@peta2.com! Also, The Pageant will be hosting the upcoming Hanson and hellogoodbye, Brand New, The Used, Ludo, Cobra Starship, AFI, and many more shows, so make sure you check them out if you're around!

Vegan AFI peta2 Alkaline Trio Vegan Treats
Fact—I love treats. Cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, doughnuts—all kinds of delicious baked goods really. So you can imagine my excitement when I find out about yummy vegan bakeries! In my opinion, the only thing better than cupcakes, is vegan cupcakes.
One such bakery, Vegan Treats, in Bethlehem, PA, was recently spotlighted by Alternative Press magazine. As you can see from the picture below, not only is Vegan Treats home to such mouth-watering delights as Peanut Butter Cup Brownies, Cake Batter softserve, Triple Berry Cheesecake, and a plethora of other vegan goodies, it's also a favorite stop of legendary bands like Alkaline Trio and AFI.

Danielle Konya, the owner of Vegan Treats, told AP that she decided she "could never eat meat again" after seeing a lobster "scratching to get out of the pot" in a restaurant, and she's proud that her bakery is "changing people's minds" about eating animals. With her version of vegan candy bars she's already won over Conor Oberst, Matt Skiba, and Davey Havok among others! I don't know about you, but I think a road trip to PA is in order!
You can read the full interview here. I'm not gonna lie, I'm slightly jealous of Bethlehem! Does your town have a sweet vegan bakery or restaurant with great desserts?

AFI vegetarian celebs gossip Davey Havok Carrie Underwood American Idol Kelly Clarkson Sexiest Vegetarian Alive

RealityTVMagazine.com / CC
Yep, that's right ... Kelly Clarkson has gone vegetarian and you heard it here first. OK, well, second if you read her blog, and third if you heard a recent interview she did with a UK radio station but no need to get technical.
When the DJ talks about eating a huge steak while visiting Amarillo, Texas, Kelly says she's been a vegetarian for over a year: " ... I tried it and it's been great so a 72 oz. steak in front of me right now might make me barf at this point."
The DJ teases her throughout the rest of the interview saying she can't be a vegetarian in Texas, but she holds her own telling him, "It's so much better though, man, I feel better ... " Go Kelly!
I'd like to think my Davey Havok and the rest of the AFI boys had something to do with this, I mean after all, it was at Live Earth where she said she first heard about the devastating effects the meat industry had on the environment.
And maybe fellow American Idol winner and former Sexiest Vegetarian Alive Carrie Underwood was a bit of an influence, too. I mean she always talks about being veg and helping animals, so you never know.
P.S. I love Kelly's new song, "My Life Would Suck Without You" but "The Trouble with Love Is" from Love Actually will always be my fave. What's your favorite Kelly Clarkson song?

Remember our feature on ZuBoutique, Davey Havok's animal-friendly clothing company of limited edition T-Shirts? He's at it again, and this time, with what I am going to consider his best design yet, appropriately titled "Got Pus?"

Check out the shirt description from the website:
"We promise that the somatic cell count of this t-shirt is zero, which can not be said for any dairy products. Help spread the truth on the contents of milk while denouncing the innate cruelty of the milk production industry. GOT PUS?"
I couldn't have said it better! Not only do I love ZuBoutique for the heavy Animal Rights message, but also because each shirt is numbered and limited to 100 pieces, and once the shirt is sold out, it's gone forever. It's like owning a limited piece of artwork!
Be sure to check out the rest of Davey's shirts, and be sure to keep an eye out for more designs!

Music AFI Live Earth,
I'm not ashamed to admit that I was glued to the TV set this weekend. Rarely do I get to see so many bands I love performing together but that was the case this weekend when AFI, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, the Chili Peppers, and two of my all-time faves, The Police and Duran Duran performed at Live Earth. Frankly any time there's even the slightest chance that I'll get to see my Davey Havok—a.k.a. the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian for 2007"—people know not to expect me to leave the house.
The beautiful Mr. Havok took the stage in a striped light colored suit and launched into my fave song from Decemberunderground, "The Missing Frame". His newly colored and cut locks looked divine...sigh. Earlier in the day Davey and Jade spoke to Aamer from VH1 about how living a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle aids the environment. And during their set, Davey told the estimated 2 billion viewers that going vegan is one way they could help the planet. "We in AFI are all vegetarians. I've been vegan for almost 10 years now and it's those types of personal changes that you can make, going vegan, recycling, using automobiles that use less gas, or using no automobile at all that will make changes now that will affect us for years to come in the future in a positive way..." He's a good Davey, in fact, he's the only performer that spoke about the negative impact that eating meat has on the planet.
Say what you will about Live Earth, but some people really did learn from the experience, like Kelly Clarkson for instance. She had no idea that being vegan helped the planet, that is until she heard about AFI...
The band sounded great but I'll let you be the judge. Enjoy "The Missing Frame"!
