Could you imagine spending most of every day completely alone? Even on Valentine's Day, Lucy the elephant, who is kept at the Edmonton Valley Zoo in Canada, is denied friendship with other elephants and everything else that is natural and important to her.

We've been asking the Edmonton City Council for years to show some ♥ for Lucy and retire her to a sanctuary, where she could have other ele friends, live in a warmer climate, and not to be forced to stand around and earn money for a zoo. This past weekend, peta2 tabled at a local event here in Los Angeles and asked high school students to sign our Valentine's Day card for Lucy—and who could resist?!

We sent the card to Edmonton's mayor and City Council to show support for letting Lucy be free. Let's hope this is the last Valentine's Day that Lucy has to spend alone. ♥
