Supermodel and former Leonardo DiCaprio flame Bar Refaeli is catching heat for posing in fur for clothing company Bel Air, especially in light of the proposed fur ban in Israel.

Honorary PETA Director Pamela Anderson sent Refaeli a letter explaining, "You probably weren't aware that numerous undercover investigations have revealed that foxes, minks, coyotes, and rabbits—and even cats and dogs—are bludgeoned, genitally electrocuted, and often skinned alive for their pelts." Pam asked Refaeli, model to model, to raise the bar on ethical fashion and dump fur.

But Refaeli insisted that there had been a titanic mistake, telling an Israeli publication that Bel Air had lied to her and said the fur was fake. Then she took to Twitter, posting, "I think its time 2 get it straight! i'm against fur! the truth of the matter is that on the shoot day i was told the fur is FAKE!"

Considering the lies that the fur industry tells about how animals are killed, it's not surprising that fur-mongers would finagle Refaeli into donning pelts.

Be a model of compassion and bar fur from your closet. Lookin' at you, Blake Lively

I'm glad pamela Said something to him. I can always tell when fur is fake and when it isn't, he's really go no excuse. Fur is just wrong! I hope he takes a minute to think about the animals on the fur farms and decides not to ever wear fur again!

I don't think it's a good idea to even wear FAKE fur, people are stupid, if they see you wearing fake, they're bound to think you like real fur too, but are "too poor" or something to wear it. Fake fur is just as tacky as real, albeit FAR FAR FAR less cruel.

Ancient people started wearing animal pelts because it kept them warm in cold winter months. We have heating and plenty of man-made and animal friendly materials nowadays. I can't see how fur changed into a fashion statement – If I wore another human's skin, people would be disgusted and call me a murderer. I don't see a difference between the two.

This is the second time recently I've seen somebody who posed with fur (the other was Kate Winslet) claim they were told it's fake and "didn't know". I'm starting to wonder if they are trying to save their reputation or if they're really that naive? If it mattered I would think in their contract they could put a clause and if actually lied to, could sue. This is a serious business, promoting and endorsing killing. I think fake is a no go because if it looks real it still allows the endorsement of the real thing. Once I see ANYBODY in fur I automatically make a mental note that that person is not worthy of respect and goes on the shit list (an awful lot of celebrities belong to this list, go figure; celebrities really provide little of value to a healthy and compassionate society).

She should have checked to make sure it was faux! I personally don't even go near faux unless it's obviously fake, hence my Teddy Bear coat.
