YES. It's getting cold and we need to keep our footsies warm and snuggly, but guess what? Our feet can stay just as warm, comfy and cute WITHOUT wearing UGGs! But what's wrong with UGGs you ask? In a word, the truth about UGGs is very UGGLY.
UGGs are made in Australia, where the wool industry is known for forcing lambs to endure "mulesing," in which chunks of skin and flesh (the size of dinner plates) are cut from the animals' backsides using gardening shears, often without any painkillers. Yes, gardening shears. WTF?! Also, wool shearers are paid by volume, not by the hour, which often results in frightened sheep getting kicked and punched with shears to get them to "cooperate".
Like the reality of factory farming, once you see it with your own eyes, you can ignore no longer. So if you need more convincing, watch this.
Buying sheepskin products from Australia directly supports their cruel wool industry. For a pair of boots that can easily be made with alternative, NON-bloody materials? Come on now.

ugh! i hate UGGs! why do people spend their money on the? not only are they bad for animals but there just plain ugly too! people who wear them not only have a lack of style but also lack of knowledge in what they buy!
my feet are always cold in new england, and that pile fur lining is the only thing I have ever tried that keeps them warm doesn't matter if they're ugly to me. but it matters that animals suffered to make them, so I'm here with cold feet looking for something as warm as real sheep wool lined boots. I won't buy another pair of uggs but nothing else warms my toes! I'm moving to somewhere warmer someday, but I'm stuck here for now and COLD! anyone else found an equally warm alternative?????
thank you for this article. I've been confused as to if any wool is produced humanely, so many people say that the sheep are just shaved and there's no harm to the animal, but clearly with many wool clothing items that is not the case. Keep up the great work exposing cruelty!

I saw a pair of UGGS recently and the tag stated: made in China. ??? Even worse, those sheep were eventually hauled across the ocean while alive in extremely horrid conditions from Australia to China.

Egad… every preppy bitch at my school loves their uggs. Uggly uggs. Really, they'll wear 'em with sweatpants, wear 'em with skirts, wear 'em in the middle of freaking summer. I absolutely hate uggs, the sweaty, inhumanely made, clog-ish looking things, converse sneakers for the win.
I seen the ones from Old Navy a while again.There are cute and soft.Only thing is I don't think they'll last in the snow.But great for walking in a mall or something.

I hate ugg so much there ugly even without the sheepskins. I almost dead sure that every girl at my school has or wants a pair of those awful fugly boots. I have a pair of the boots from old navy so warm and much cuter than uggs will ever be. Uggs are Uggly just like fur is dead. : )

I bought some comfy faux fur boots from Fashion Bug for 15 dollars. Cheap, comfy, warm, cute, and cruelty free! They come in gray (which is what I have), tan, dark brown, and black. Check em' out! <3
In Montreal, SOOO many people wear Uggs boots and Canada Goose Coats with a fur trim hood because it is in "style".
If only they knew about the inhumane actions that take place in order to produce such unoriginal choice of fashion, these girls would not be wearing these fuggs! It makes me sick.
