Victory! Dogs and Cats at PLRS to be FREED!

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 11:49 am | Permalink | Comments (80)

Remember the animals—the dogs, cats, and rabbits at Professional Laboratory and Research Services, Inc. (PLRS)—who were the faces of our recent undercover investigation? An investigation that showed systematic and shocking cruelty—including rabbits being purposely infested with ticks, dogs being hosed down with a mixture of bleach and water, and animals being called "bitch," "motherfucker," and "asshole."

YOU TOOK ACTION and today you have the rare chance to see some of the lives that you helped free from suffering. By the end of this week, at PLRS, there will be empty cages.

Just one week after PETA released the results of our undercover investigation at PLRS which uncovered appalling abuse and neglect of dogs, cats, and rabbits tormented in tests for flea and tick products —and filed a 70-page formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) alleging violations of the Animal Welfare Act—PLRS is shutting its doors for good and surrendering more than 200 dogs and cats left at the facility to animal shelters.

PETA's investigator documented PLRS employees kicking, throwing, grabbing, dropping, and dragging dogs; roughly grabbing and lifting rabbits by their ears; violently throwing and slamming cats into cages; and viciously cursing at animals. This HUGE victory means that these mistreated animals will now finally get the veterinary care and loving homes they deserve.

Please take another step for animals who are suffering and tell the North Utah Valley Animal Shelter to stop betraying animals and selling them to laboratories!

Thank you for making history!

This is awesome for all of those unfortunate animals! Hopefully now they will have a real chance at life and have an opportunity to understand what it is really like to be loved. I hope that they are all adopted by great families. They all deserve it!

A great victory – because it also prompted a very swift closure. I have seen laboratories of this nature before and somehow they have got away with it. It gives me great pleasure to know the numbskulls working in the place are now unemployed. I just hope life serves them up some sweet revenge for what they have done to those poor animals in their so called care. A trades description act is always flawed when it comes to Laboratories using terms like "animals in our care are treated with the highest regard and respect and are cared for by trained professionals" I mean this quote does not relate to this lab – but the laugh was that they had the nerve to call themselves Professional Laboratory and Research Services. Well this is about as good as it ever gets in labs – so glad these animals have a chance of real love and well done and huge respect to the investigator for having the nerve and stamina to stick it out in that hellhole with the scum of the earth working there!!!!

I literally screamed for joy when I read this. Tears came to my eyes and my mom came up to see what was wrong, and although she couldnt understand why I was so happy (because I'm all for the animals, she is ehh who cares type person) she was happy that it made me so happy. :)
