Oh, how I love Ryan Gosling. I swear, I will sit and watch his movies over and over. His performance in The Notebook still gets me every time. He's so talented and dreamy and he has a soft spot for animals—that's why he's speaking up for chickens again.
The actor is ruffling feathers over at McDonald's with a letter he wrote to their CEO, Jim Skinner, on behalf of his feathered-friends. Gosling is asking the company to ditch its cruel, outdated slaughter methods and switch to a more humane method of slaughter.
Gosling writes, "Many of McDonald's suppliers in Europe already use a much more humane slaughter method that eliminates the worst cruelty. What's your excuse?"

Chickens who are killed for McDonald's restaurants suffer broken bones after being dumped from their transport crates and hung upside down in metal shackles. And many of these gentle birds are scalded to death when they are dumped into defeathering tanks. Switching to a less-cruel method of slaughter, controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK), would eliminate these abuses, as chickens would remain in their transport crates as the oxygen is removed from the room—a painless process.

Good for him. I mean chickens shouldn't be slaughtered at all, but I guess that's something out of our control. But it's good that he's taking action.
I applaud Mr.Gosling for doing the right thing and helping to get word out about more humane slaughter methods. (if there must be any at all)

its great that he cares. it makes spreading the word much more effective when someone well known is there to help. but i agree, there is no right way in murder.
Not that I agree with the killing of any animal … we all know the whole world will never stop, so good for him =). All it takes is one letter at a time to make some sort of difference.
