If you're anything like me, lately you've been scouring the internet for the "Best of 2009" lists that are popping up on all the popular blogs and websites. Even better? We here at peta2 have our own "best of" list called the Libby Awards where we ask you to vote on the best animal-friendly categories like food, video games, movies, music, and more. Voting will begin in January after we narrow down the nominees you give us, so don't forget to come back to see if your picks make our final list!
This week, it's all about my favorite topic ... music! This year has been a fantastic year for animal-friendly bands, labels, and peta2 ads starring your favorite musicians, so we're asking you who you'd like to see win this year. Does a band you love have adopted animals? What about vegetarian or vegan members? Do they speak out against fur, animal testing, or dissection? Now's your chance to nominate them for a Libby Award! i don't know about hip-hop artists or record labels but AFI should win for most animal friendly band! The whole band is vegan/vegetarian and speaks out about fur and animal testing!

The Dead Stars on Hollywood! The lead singer, Kneel Cohn, is a long-time vegan and has his own line of vegan shirts, buttons, and bags called VegetableSlut.com Their keyboard player is also vegetarian.

Posted by: crust at December 14, 2009 7:04 PMi don't really know these other bands, but i've been a fall child/big AFI fan for yearsnyearsnyears, before i even cared about animal rights. since i got involved in the AR stuff and being vegan, i love them even more, and give bassist Hunter's outspoken-ness on the subject some credit for my transition.
so, AFI totally has my vote :)
