I feel like I say this a lot, but I really am stoked on all of the great albums that have come out lately. It's officially fall, my favorite time of year, and my soundtrack to the season is shaping up quite nicely! The new Paramore (which I know you've all entered to win, right?), The Avett Brothers, Frank Turner, and Brand New are all in heavy rotation. One album that I'm particularly in love with and couldn't wait to tell you guys about is Ups and Downsizing by The Swellers! From playing local hardcore shows in their home state of Michigan, to signing to Fueled By Ramen, to opening up for Paramore on their sold-out fall tour, The Swellers have quickly made a name for themselves.
I caught up with singer Nick Diener and drummer Jonathan at the Richmond, VA stop of the Gig Life Tour this summer to talk about why animal rights is important to them and the easy ways you can get involved.

my favorite thing about fall is the leaves and the weather and pumpkin picking and taking the hay ride down to the patches and getting to look at all the different colored leaves on the ground, while there they give you nice warm yummy apple cider, then you take the pumpkins home, carve them and then cook the pumpkin seeds, it's the perfect fall day, it's the best thing ever, seriously, if you've never picked/carved pumpkins and cooked the seeds afterwards it's seriously the best thing about the fall and i suggest you all do it!
[p.s. i love the swellers and so does all of new bedford massachusetts, so you should pick me ;)]

Plus, the mosquitos are going away, so no more Triple E and West Nile! Oh and the orange leaves and free candy at halloween and such are pretty cool too.

I love fall because the weather's cool, not to hot not to cold, and because it's the time when my girlfriend wants to cuddle up most, but most of all, I love fall because it's the time when some of the best animal rights petitions and movements happen, and when I get most protective over the things I believe in

Such as faux leather boots to jump in plies of leaves and PETA1 hoodies.
Homemade Halloween costumes are the best. There's no easier way to make new friends than to make your own vegan Halloween candy to pass out at school.
All the best tours happen during fall. That's why fall = rad.

It feels like a veil, making everything a little harder to see, and people a little harder to read. It takes the pressure off, I guess, with back to school and the terrible weather. At least the sky is sympathetic.
