The fabulous Heidi Minx is at it again. Our good friend has penned herself a fab new book, Home Rockanomics, for all you DIY types out there whose style is a bit edgier than what you might find on one of those oh-so-popular design or home-makeover shows.

The talented mastermind behind Franky & Minx, Built On Respect, and Punk Rock Domestics, Heidi has often been labeled a "poster child for DIY," so who better to write this guide, right? I'm just happy she's sharing her crafty works with the rest of us!

Home Rockanomics is packed full of decorating tips, ideas for revamping your wardrobe, and yummy vegan and vegetarian recipes from Heidi herself, as well as some of her friends like Theo Kogan from Lunachicks/TATS, Sick of It All, Bif Naked, and Flogging Molly to name but a few.

Want to get your hands on your very own copy? Just comment below with your favorite DIY decorating or style tip and 10 lucky winners will be chosen at random by November 17, 2009. Winners will be notified by November 20, 2009.

My two favorite DIY decorations are pillows and blankets.
if your handy at sewing, pillows are awesome. i made 2 pillows in the shape of owls and everyone loves them
also and easy "no sew" blanket is rad. take 2 fabrics, cut 1" into the edges so it looks like fringe then tie it! so easy

Favorite design/decorating tip...hmm tough one for me XP

I like sewing random things onto my backpack and jeans using that really thick thread (I think it's called embroidery floss technically) it's not hard to use and I made awesome spiderwebs on the back pockets of my jeans. It also lasts forever in the wash.

I haven't read the book.
I would love to have it though (: I am beging a club at my school (we just need a sponsor)and we would love to have some crafts to do. My favorite DIY tip not from this book would have to be "Follow the instructions and it will turn out right, if you don't it will be ugly." Thats what my mom always told me when she was teaching me how to sew and crochet. I am a big fan of crafts. . . My current project is a small black pillow with a peta nugget on it.
-xxxx's and oooo's

Well, I had a "Love is the Answer" T-shirt that was way too big for me so I sewed it into a bag!

Um I'd have to say my favorite DIY tip is actually somthing that involves Peta! Project a stencil onto a wall in your room and trace it! Then paint it in and Voila you have a beautiful wall that actually has a purpose besides keeping outside out! :) I plan to do one of Nugget!

My favorite DIY styling is cutting up clothes! Kind of like the punk rock style. This type of styling gives you your own VERY unique style, and it's also fun and creative (two things I love!) =)

A needle and thread is all it takes...you can sew up a too-big tshirt to make it fit tighter, or adjust the flare of your jeans. and also, you can plaster your bag/pants/jacket/etc with patches so it's not so plain and boring.

diy or die.

Because I have little to know money, I have to do everything DIY. Right now, I'm steeping in red food colouring 'hair dye' for my Halloween costume, I've got homemade earrings in, and resized clothes, I've made my own face scrubs, grown my own veg and constantly sew my own clothes. Best part? Everything I make is vegan, and the more I show off what I make in school or at work, the more people ask me how to do things so they can have the same hommeade, vegan goodness.

Hi! I crochet, so my favorite DIY involves that and also PETA. I've nearly stopped getting gifts for my close friends (why buy, when you can DIY? ;)). I recently made a yellow sweater for myself with a chick on it!

The best and simplest way to decorate DIY is by getting peta2 stickers everywhere so that everyone will see them. You can't get more stylish than compassion.

I have soo many :D

Take any old sweater and you can cut and sew it to make book sleeves, laptop cases, and pillows

Also you can gather up old tshirts and even jeans you dont wear anymore and cut them into long 1 inch strips. You then can weave the strips into a large canvas piece to make a thick rug.

sew a bunch of bandanas together and make colorful kid friendly curtains.

I could go on and on for days.... :)
I also knit and crochet and can make any type of curtains, pillows, clothes, blankets.

I really would like to have a craft book in my collection (:
I really enjoy creating crafts, exspecially animal rights ones!
I would like this book because:
It would help me get more creative and this would also be very fun to have. If I had this book my friends and I could have lots of fun! Also I may have a club at my school very soon, and were looking for crafts to do.
My favorite DIY quote woul have came from my mom. "If you concentrate hard enough, and believe in yourself, put everything aside and just empty your mind then you can make the most amazing thing you have ever seen."
My favorite DIY project is my most recent. It is a black head pillow with the Peta2 nugget, and In the corner it says I am not a nugget! I would upload it to this but there is no possiable way.
thanks alot peta (: I

my favorite thing is to recycle old and worn out vegan tees, usually one's i've painted, you cut the sleeves off cut the neck wider and sew the bottom shut, voila! an AR bag. I have a flesh is for zombies one and a compassion is sexy one too!

Reuse old clothing as rags - paper towel use should be kept to a minimum, if not a zero.

And donate your old towels and blankets to an animal shelter!

I love DIY decorating! One good tip is to focus on color schemes. If you have a good color scheme going, you can be as eclectic as you like and still tie everything together without looking random.

Lately I've been keeping pieces of cardboard and other pieces of paper (they don't have to be the same kind) to make sketchbooks/journals with. I use hole punchers and thick string to bind it together.

I live with 3 amazing cats and to keep the swarms of ants out of their food in the summer, I put their food bowl into a pan of shallow water.
