Free Stuff Friday: 'Not a Nugget' Jewelry!

Posted on October 30, 2009 at 9:10 am | Permalink | Comments (179)

Boy, are you in for a treat! This week you have the chance to win some amazing jewelry pieces from Christy Robinson. Christy Robinson creates one of a kind, earth and animal-friendly jewelry. And, because we know how much you love the peta2 nugget (I mean, what's not to love? Is he not the cutest thing ever?!), we're giving away these two pieces from her collection:

The chick and heart pendant is made of Earth-friendly recycled aluminum, so it's super lightweight. The ring (size 6) is made of recycled copper and aluminum. And guess what! The top of the ring SPINS! Um yea … it doesn't get much cooler than that. Since we have two necklaces and two rings to give away, your chances of winning are pretty damn good.

You're all familiar with our McCruelty campaign right? Pretend you're talking to the CEO of McDonald's and comment below with what you'd say to convince him to adopt a more humane method of slaughter. The four people with the most convincing comments will be chosen as our winners and notified on November 9. Two will receive the 'Not a Nugget' necklace and two will receive the 'Not a Nugget' ring.

Just so you know … by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

Also by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

GOOD LUCK!

You know (sir), more and more people are turning towards a vegetarian diet, because they are becoming aware that eating meat is bad for the environment, because of all the health risks linked to non organic food, but also because they get disgusted by the way the animals are treated and abused, something easily prevented. Unhealthy animal living conditions is the main reason people stop eating non organic meat, not just because they can picture themselves suffering like chicks or dogs but because it is unhealthy.
Awareness is changing people, and this is why they urge you to make your move too.

Don't you ever feel like what your doing to animals is wrong? Do you eat your own food, knowing what the animals went through to make your McChicken? When you look at the sick, hurt chickens, do you picture a delicious meal? I know that a delicious meal DOES NOT cross my mind. What does cross my mind is cruelty. These sick, hurt, mistreated chickens are being fed to thousands of people. I bet most the people who eat it, have no idea what happens to these chickens. I bet if they did, they wouldn't eat it.
Why do you mistreat the chickens so badly anyway? What if it was you being mistreated like that? Every living being has feelings. You know, they can feel all the pain they're going through? They can feel fear, and discomfort. No living being wants torture to be a part of their everyday life. Being boiled alive doesn't sound very pleasant. The chickens don't find it very pleasing, I know that.
You could so easily change some of the things your doing to chickens. Why don't you?

Do you have a minute to talk? Thanks.
Im a strong believer of PETA. Yes, I know.
But, I believe we have to be the voice for these poor animals.
    I think its cruel.
Is it right that we take some little chick or chickens life and have them suffer so we can eat? When we can eat veggies and still get the same things we need? Plus, I'd be much heathier.
    It'd help our earth too.
Just think about it. Ay? It means a lot.
    Thanks for your time.

I would probably tell the CEO this:
"Alrighty, bub. (Intimidation stare … ) I probably have no say in this whatsoever. BUUUUT– I CAN say that I love animals, and that you would have to have an icy heart not to understand what I'm about to say.
"Although animals can't talk, don't they scream when you chop them into little nuggets? They hurt too! What if YOU were an animal at your 'farm'? See through their eyes next time you slaughter an animal. Not to mention they're ALIVE when you do this. And try to remember that what you're doing is murder. A brutal, terrifying murder."
    THE END. FIN!!!
Alright. So, maybe I would say 'um…' a couple times…. SO WHAT!!??

i would show them the videos of how suppliers treat the chickens. then i would tell them:
"i know that mcdonalds is one of the biggest fast food joints around the world, but i think that you should reconsider getting your chickens from a different supplier. you see chicks are taken away from their families when they're very young or even when they aren't even born, to be sent off to a factory farm with very unsanitary conditions to be grown then forced to lay eggs then get sent off to a slaughter house where they are made into the meat you serve to your customers.
how would you feel if one day your little boy or girl got taken away to be trafficked? isnt it the same exact thing?
im just asking you to help save animals from all the torture they go through everyday for our own indulgence. it isnt fair for them to suffer and we take in the pleasure. please take this into consideration and stop the cruelty to animals."

    Dear Mr CEO
Anger and abuse personally isn’t my style in approaching people who are morally doing unforgivable things and in your case, turning a blind eye to the pain your inflicting on harmless animals. I am sympathetic to fact that your running as business and its your job, but I have a job amongst the millions of people around the world and they don’t abuse and keep animals in the despicable conditions that you do.. You need to change your company, your policies and yourself. Animals are beautiful creatures and you are far from beautiful. As I said I wouldn’t approach you with anger.
So think about the impact of your actions.
    Get some respect for animals!

"Listen here Mr/Mrs McDonald's CEO animals have lives as do all people on this earth, we have hearts. We are able to feel pain as much as animals do too. Imagine you cant talk and all you can do is cry and plea and feel every single little thing of the worse feeling possible pain!
there helplessly u lay yet still pleading with no one to come to your aid. Its Horrible! Its an outrage to be unconscious but still be able to feel everything these chickens have families have lives to live it may seem silly because of course you probably couldn't understand if it means nothing to you. and you will lose alot of business cause not everyone in this world is cold hearted we have hearts! We feel pain for not only these animals but every animal in this world. Animals Are Gods Creatures he did not put them on this earth to be mistreated I am not asking for much but just that you at least think about these animals as if they were human cause they are really just like us.
    Thank You,

It's sick. It's wrong, and i don't know what good you think it will do to carry on with this senseless cruelty. You have the fame and the power of being world wide now. Use that power now to make a difference for the good. End your cruel methods of killing animals! Thank you

I think killing all these animals for food is wrong. I mean im not going to say i dont eat meat, because i do. I just thik it is important that we don't eat it everyday. McDonald's is a great example. If people stop eating there as much as they do, there will be plenty more animals in the world.

I would convince the CEO of McDonald's about cruel slaughter practices performed by their supliers by bringing a cage of baby chicks to his office and ask him how he perfers to abuse his lunch of Chicken Nuggets. Along with the Baby Chicks I would give him a gift of an engaved slaughter knife with CEO's initials and red paint on the handle with a note that says now his hands are covered with innocent chicken's blood. I would ask him if he would so cruelly kill these chicks and why he has others do his dirty work.

    i love the necklace.
i would tell the guy that you wouldn't want to see your wife and kids get slaughtered like a bunch of animals. most people would choose a nice, easy and painless way if they had to choose how their family would die. and if he would take some chicks and raise them for a week or two he would probably like them and then not want to kill them in a painful way. it's just not right to hurt animals when killing them…

For the animals' sake, if you're going to be killing them, you should at least do it in a way that is as least harmful as possible. I suggest instant death as opposed to slow and excruciating torture. I understand that today's society does still demand meat, but the way that you slaughter the animals that you try to pass off as "good food" is just, in the end, making your sales go lower, whether you realize it or not.

This is plain and simple, there are many other things on the earth to eat than animals and animal products. Our earth grows perfectly good fruits and vegetables for us to eat. Veggie meat is the most delicious thing ever. If you started selling veggie burgers in your restaurant instead of regular animal meat, many more people would come here to have lunch or a snack. Please think of a more humane way to satisfy your customers, don't kill all the animals; don't torture our animals. Just think about this: what would happen if you weren't at the top of the food chain? What would happen to you? What would you want to happen to you? I hope I've given you a lot to think about.

I think it's disgusting how you can serve this food to people who probs have no idea how you kill the poor creatures. Murder is wrong when it's a human, but as soon as it comes to animals, people don't care how horrible or inhumane the animals are killed. Chickens are hung upside down and still consious with there necks slit. How many customers do you think you would have still if they found out that the burgers they are eating and of ill-killed animals who have been confined to a small space and been tourtured. Thats not how you treat fellow creatures, we share the earth and we should all just be friends and no kill.

Remember that part in the movie"I Am Legend" when the dog Sam dies?
Whether you want to admit it or not, that was an emotional scene.
Things like that happen everyday, except to more animals that aren't dogs.
Animals such as chickens & cows suffer & die everyday in inhumane ways.
Whether it be a chicken being stuffed in a cage where it can't even move a wing, or a cow being pulled by the tail to get in a truck/ being crammed into a small space-you may not be able to feel the animal's emotion, but they're in pain & suffering. If you wouldn't perform inhumane actions on your family pet, then why should it be any different if it were performed on a cow, chicken, etc.?

    I would tell them:
How in the word could you really be so heartless to kill, and torture such a cute and innocent animal like that!? They have all the same feelings that we do, and they did nothing to deserve being treated like that. Its really like someone just coming up to you and slicing your neck while you are still awake, and putting you intp a boiling tank like that. You wouldnt want it done to you, so why do it to something that is helpless and cant even control what happens to it. Its not one bit fair, and it only takes a cold, heartless person to kill an animal.

i would try and convince him animals have families and feeling and id ask him if he thinks the workers who slaughter are really happy about theyre jobs…id say that the animals being killed are still alive sometimes. how is it that slaughterhouses are not getting in trouble for murder? otherwise id DEFINETLY convince him that hes losing some busniuess as more people find out about things like unhumane killing and if he made it better hed get more money ;)

Wait! Dont put that nugget in your mouth just yet. Have you ever just taken a second to think…This chicken once had a mom and a dad. Brothers and sisters that could have died by its side. How did they make that nugget? And the final big question,Why am i eating this in the first place. I don't need it and i've contributed in this poor animals death by eating it. So in short terms, Stop and think before you just shove something down your mouth.

I would tell the CEO this: "Are you really that heartless and cruel?! Don't you ever feel bad for having those animals killed and selling it to people just to make money out of it. A lot of meat eaters love eating delicious meat, like Mcdonald that's why they would come back for more. But, if you stop selling meat not only will you help save more animals but can improve people's health too. So, there's really nothing to lose at all. Your doing some good deeds and helping the environment.

I will say to the ceo that, "Do you ever feel cruel and guilty for the animals that got killed and eaten by the customers that your Mcdonald had sold. Think about it, every animals have their families just like humans. What will happen if everything got changed around and were like animals. We probably wouldn't like it at all. No one wants to be killed, eaten, or tortured. Just as the same for the animals. Mcdonald doesn't have to sell meat just to make money. It can make other good vegan foods and customer will still be there, especially for vegans. Not only your helping to save animals but helping others to improve their health condition. So, your doing good thing to help the community and people and serve them healthy!!!"

I will tell the ceo that, "whether you want to hear it or not but I have to say this. "You are so heartless because you don't really care about the animals that got killed. You can improve better for mcdonald if you sell vegan foods. Everything that your selling is really unhealthy. If you try to change mcdonald around, Im pretty sure customers will come and you can still make money. All you need to do is stop killing and selling animals to customers. You can sell them vegan foods. Sounds more healthy and no animals will be harm. It will also do good to mcdonalds, not only vegans will come but probably meat eaters will try your new vegan foods too. To see how delicious they are, and probably will come back for more. So, why don't you just give it a try, nothing to lose."
