You, a Camera, and Ronald McDonald? June 1, 2009

Ape
So you don't eat McDonald's, you've already told everyone you know to boycott McCruelty, and you've signed our petition because of the way McDonald's suppliers break bird's legs and wings, sometimes scald chickens alive, and cut their throats while they're fully conscious and able to feel pain. What more can you do? Don't worry—we've got you covered!

We want the whole world to know just how horrible McDonald's is to animals, because McDonald's sure isn't going to tell anyone the truth about how unhappy their meals really are. We need your help to let the world know about McCruelty!

Since we know how much you love taking pictures and standing up for animals, this one will be easy!

Step 1: Print out our new "I'm Hatin' It" sign (or make your own if you can't find a printer!).

Step 2: Find your local McDonald's and take a picture of yourself in front of the store—holding the sign of course! (If you're unlucky enough to have one of those Ronald McDonald statues at the McDonald's near you, take the picture in front of it!)

Step 3: Upload your picture to your Facebook or MySpace (and tag your friends so that they can see it)! Make sure you also send it to StreetTeam@peta2.com so we can give you points and put it on our Flickr! You'll get 1,000 points for sending it in.

Want even more points? Set the picture as your default on your MySpace or Facebook and take a screenshot. Send it to StreetTeam@peta2.com and you'll get an extra 1,000 points!

If you're not sure what all of this "points" business is about, check out the peta2 Street Team!

Stay loud!
-Rachel

hm... well, while this seems like a decent way to make a point, what exactly is it accomplishing? If you really want to do something about the way McDonald's treats chickens, why not go to the source, where the chickens are being harmed, and protest there?

Okay i've been a vegetarian for 9 years and all and i'm completly against animal cruelty . Like when KFC cruelty was being protested and everything i was all against it to protesting it . But then I see the McCruetly and i'm reading everything there saying how they torture the animals , and it's exactly the same thing they wrote for KFC cruelty about how they scold them alive and slit there throats and put them threw boiling water alive . I'm just woundering if KFC and McDonalds where doing the same wrong things why they wouldn't have gotten protested at the same time ?

Hey Kelsey!

McDonald's actually kills more chickens than KFC now, and is now the leader as far as killing chickens for fast food. We've re-launched our McCruelty campaign because McDonald's did once agree to make changes for the animals, but has since done nothing. Thee company has refused to eliminate the worst abuses that its chickens suffer in the U.S., including abuses during slaughter. This cruelty would be illegal if dogs or cats—or even pigs or cows—were the victims.

Both KFC and McDonald's are horrible to animals, but we're hoping McDonald's, as a leader in the industry, will adopt changes as they once agreed to, so that other companies like KFC will have to follow.

Hope this helps explain things!

Hey all --

Our McCruelty campaign is focused in mostly in the U.S and Canada because of certain laws.

We'd love for everyone in the U.K and Europe to focus on our KFC campaign at www.KFCCruelty.com.

I have a question... Why won't McDonalds and KFC change their ways? Is i because it might cost more or because it sould contaminate(spelling) the food or what? I just don't see what would be so hard about treating animals the way they should be treated.

I believe in animal rights and i am against testing on animals and of course abuse but however i do not believe that giving young kids "unhappy meals" with fake blood stains in the boxes is right. The majority of 5 and 6 year olds just want their happy meals, they dont understand what happens behind closed doors and they are to young to be exposed to that kind of thing. this kind of "protest" can scar young children and I dont see how targeting children is going to change the way Mc Donalds treats the animals. If you really want to change this then i suggest Peta goes to the people in charge of these kinds of things, not 5 year olds and their mothers. Peta is fighting for a good cause but can have extreme ways of doing so which makes Peta look like a bunch of loons. The O'Reilly Factor had a segment about this today and I suggest some of the people on this board watch it.

I don't believe in cruety to animals but cutting the chicken throat is how you kill a chicken, the breaking of legs and scalding alive is not right! I will definitely think before I go to McDonald again. How about a fetus being cut up alive to be aborted? Seems much more important then chickens.
